Happy National Dog Day to you and your dog! This day is celebrated yearly on August 26. All dogs are celebrated no matter what their size, breed, fur color, or any other difference. At our house we celebrate every day, but we might celebrate a bit more today. I’ve got some great tips if you are looking for ideas.
7 Ways To Celebrate National Dog Day
1. Start The Day With A Walk
At our house we start every day with a walk but on special days, we often take a longer walk. You can also drive to a new spot or park and take a walk there. Your pup would love to take a special walk with you to honor her day.
2. Make Your Dogs Meal Extra Special
After walking, a dog will be ready for a nice meal. We love our raw food, but it is always a welcome surprise when Mom adds in something special like a green tripe patty. They are so yummy! You can also add in some fruits, veggies, or anything your pup loves to eat but doesn’t get very often..
3. Playtime Is Bonding Time
Do you play regularly with your dog? We play with our toys a lot, but usually just us dogs. It is extra fun when Mom joins in our games. She becomes one of the pack and we just love it!
4. Snacks Are Always A Good Idea
Unless a dog is super picky like Madison, treats are always welcome. We have our treat drawer full of healthy treats. Mom keeps two or three bags open so we have a variety of treats. On National Dog Day, why not give out some extra treats, or buy some special, extra tasty new treats to celebrate?
5. Dogs Love A Good Belly Rub
Spoil your pup a bit with a real nice, long belly rub. I know I feel a belly rub always ends way too soon. Belly rubs are a simple and free way to bring joy to your pup.
6. An Ear Massage Is A Real Winner
Our long ears love a good massage, but I think any dog even with stand up ears would love some ear rub time. Ears itch and are hard for us to really get to. We always love it when Mom uses one hand on each ear and gives them a real good rub. It feels so good we often make silly noises to let Mom know it is good.
7. Have Plenty Of Cuddle And Snuggle Time
Our family is a super snuggle family and today is no different! Hugs, cuddles, and pets are the name of the game. Set aside some extra time to cuddle and snuggle with your dog in a way they love. Happy National Dog Day! Enjoy the day with your dog!
My GBGV Life is joining Brianβs Home Blog in the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
happy dog day to youuuu! we made cupcakes for today , we hope we will get them soon…
Oh yum, I hope they are a good flavor like liver or something.
That’s a wonderful list and I know that every day is Dog Day at your place! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We figure every day is cat day at your house. Every pet needs their day!
Happy National Dog Day to you as well! Bogie LOVES his morning cuddle/snuggle time with me – so do I! – and Ducky loves just being alone with me for Mom and Me time. Today she’ll be going to daycare for a break from Bogie and Daddy. Our alone time will be spent on the drives there and back.
I love my mommy and me time the best of anything. She makes sure to give me plenty of it too.
Excellent ideas! I printed out the post and handed it to mom and said, “here’s your to do list, lady!” Hahaha! We love her and she does everything on this list! We love all of them! We hope you all have a super National Dog Day! your friend Lilly
We think you and your brother are as spoiled as we are here and that is pawsome! Enjoy your day!
Thanks for the list. I now discovered that every day is national dog day here! My Alex sure is a lucky fella – he is a rescue and was roaming the streets of Trenton, NJ until he was caught by Animal rescue. He was then rescued by a man and his wife (they do rescues and find homes for the dogs) and then he joined me in his forever home. We’ve been together for 10 years.
That is so awesome. You are both really lucky to have each other and I bet he spoils you with love every day too.
Great ideas and that works for kitties too, hint, hint parents
We don’t know when National Cat Day is, though.
Yep, I think we’ll check most of these off the list today(and most everyday BOL!).
Happy Dog Day!
xoxo,
Arty and the Gang
Every day is honor the dogs around here and Mom likes it that way.
All great things to celebrate National Dog Day. Your mom is the best.
Have a fabulous day. Scritches all around and my best to your wonderful mom. β₯
She enjoys spoiling us and we enjoy it as well.
Yup, this is a perfect list for today…and pretty much everyday!
Pretty much every day but today a bit more of each is good.
Wonderful ideas, girls! Happy National Dog day to the three of you!
Happy National Dog Day to you too!
So far it has been a good day here. Mom had to go and have a mammogram or something like that this morning. I hope I never have to have that done! Puffin says she wants a T-bone steak for dinner, but mom says good luck with that! Have a happy, happy day! XOXO, Sparkle
Hope you get something special in your dinner bowls! We are now napping as it is raining like crazy but Olivia and Madison have sniff class tonight. They will have fun I’m sure and I get some peace and quiet at home alone.
Ok, we got a late start on the day, it is pouring rain and thundering a lightening, but Mom did give me extra snacks.
It is heavy rain and winds here now but earlier it was nice out. We need the rain so badly, we don’t mind.
Those are great ideas. Next time my “granddog” Coda is here, i’m going to do some of those to celebrate, even if it’s not on the exact day.
We celebrate dogs every day around here and we know Coda wouldn’t mind celebrating any day too!
WoW! You have great tips for Dog Day! Cinnamon enjoyed her special day too. She got an added treat of ice cream with yogourt and frozen blueberries!
Olivia had some blueberries and we got some green tripe with dinner. It was a stormy day so we didn’t do much outside. Glad Cinnamon had something special to celebrate.
Somehow I missed this day until I saw it all over social media! Luckily Luke gets treated like it’s his day every day! π
It’s dog day every day here too, but sometimes it is fun to celebrate a bit more than usual.
Levi is a HUGE fan of the chest rub instead of a belly rub! Happy Belated National Dog Day!!
We are simply fans of rubs anywhere we can get them, LOL!
