We went bobbing in Omaha last week. The Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge is named Bob for short and bobbing is when you are on this bridge. Omaha tourist information seems to have a good sense of fun.
Mom checked out what there would be for us to see and do in Omaha. For Olivia and me, it is our first time visiting Nebraska, so we are adding a new state to our list of states visited. This bridge popped up all over the place, so we decided it was a place we needed to see when we got to our destination.
The bridge crossing the Missouri River is three thousand feet long, fifteen feet wide, and held up by two, two hundred ten foot tall towers and lots of cables. To make it more fun it calls itself Bob.
Mom was surprised because Olivia and I were not at all afraid to be on the bridge. It is about sixty feet high and it was a windy day but we went right to the edges without any hesitation. The view is pretty nice from up on the bridge.
We visited the bridge on a Thursday and there were hardly any people around. It actually makes for better photos that way.
The main reason we wanted to go to this bridge is that it is actually in two states, Nebraska and Iowa. There is a line on the bridge showing the state lines.
We took this photo of us each in a different state for fun. It is fun because it is on this bridge and it is what they call bobbing in Omaha.
On the way back off the bridge, we saw this mural in the city. We don’t know what it is about and we could not get close to it because of train tracks and fences but we find it interesting nevertheless.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
oh man what a giant bridge… over two states!!! we love that so you can be here and there at the same time…
We each could have our own state and tell the other to stay in her own state.
you girls are brave! I am (usually, it’s been a while) afraid of bridges. One time — with my brother Dash, I did the army dog crawl the entire length of a bridge. Mom and Dash just kept calling me. It was the only way I could get across it!! These are cool pictures and you were in two states!! That’s awesome. Have a great day. your friend Lilly
Mom was worried we would not want to cross this bridge because it was really windy too, but we went right up to the edge with no problem. Mom was the worried one! It is a very nice bridge and a fun experience. Have a fun weekend!
That is pretty neat, being on a state line! Sounds like folks in Omaha like to have some fun with things like that. Good for them! And good that you were able to check it out! That mural is cool! Too bad you couldn’t get closer to it! I wonder why they made it so INaccessible?
We like Omaha and would like to go to old town next time. We didn’t have the time this trip, but it looks really fun too.
OMDs what a wonderful pedestrian bridge. Bob is gorgeous.
You two ladies are so kind to take us with you on your fine adventures. I have never been to Iowa or Nebraska.
Happy Friday
Hugs Cecilia
They are states people tend to overlook and write off as boring, but if you look, you can find some fun and interesting things in both states.
So how many states have you each been in? Will you ever come to New York
We keep our titles and states visited updated on our staff page. Emma had 5 countries and 18 states, Bailie has 21 states, I have 10 states, and Olivia has 8 so far. New York is far away, but we have relatives in Upstate NY we may visit some day. In September, barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will be in Pennsylvania which is fairly close to New York relative to where we usually go.
That’s a pretty impressive bridge and that mural does look very pretty. I’m glad you had a fun visit!
Omaha seems like a real fun city and it is fairly dog friendly too.
That is a great bridge. I googled the mural (I love murals and I live near Philadelphia which has great murals) and it is called the Fertile Ground Mural and is one of the largest in the country. I learn so much from you ladies! Have a great weekend!
We love discovering things most people don’t experience when they travel since we can’t go to museums, churches, etc. We hope to be in the Pittsburgh area later in September. Who knows what we might find there. Our blog is a happy place to be and we like to provide information others might be able to use as well π Happy Friday!
I’m not really a fan of bridges but that one looks fun and interesting!
It’s only bikes and pedestrians and there was hardly anyone around when we were there. We had hoped to see more people so someone could take a pic of the three of us, but it didn’t happen.
What a fun fun trip! We need to get out more and see things!
Mom loves traveling with us. She has seen so much of the world and done all the tourist stuff. Now she loves to drive with us and see simple things. We always have fun.
Love the fun photo of you two guys, each in a different state!
Thankfully we all agreed to be in the same state again after the photo, LOL!
Oh how fun. I would have loved to come along and strike a pose in two states. Such fun and I love that mural.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
It is a fun spot and they make the bridge feel really welcoming to us tourist hounds.
That is one good sized bridge and we love that you girls are sitting in different states side by side! The mural looks very interesting.
Omaha has a lot of fun stuff we never knew about.
that is so cool! You could have one foot in each state!! BOL!!
That is right but we chose to have one dog in each state instead.
Wow, Bob sure is a cool bridge…we especially liked seeing both of you in different states!
Mama says she was in Omaha about 15 years ago and she can’t believe how much it has changed!!
xoxo,
Rosy and the Gang
It feels really modern and there are so many things to see. We will stop there again some day I’m sure.
WOW! You were each in a different state in the same picture!! That’s way too cool! Have a great weekend. XOXO, Sparkle
The bridge is beautiful and really set up for visitors to have some fun.
What a fun trip!
We had a real nice weekend and Omaha has a lot of fun stuff to see.
Now i need to put Omaha on my bucket list (although, as my friend Ms. GF says, the older i get, my bucket list is becoming more of a teacup list).
LOL! Good one. It is a pretty nice city. We had no idea we would like it so much.
