Mom and I went to Schulze Lake in the Lebanon Hills Regional Park on Labor Day for a mommy and me walk. Usually if she travels with my sisters, she makes a point to spend some special time with me when she is back home. I always love time alone with my mom.
Lebanon Hills is a huge park area in Eagan. Mom started going there some 30+ years ago with a friend to float on air mattresses on Lake Holland. We’ve been walking around Jensen Lake for years, and now I got to see Schulze Lake. Aside from the beach area, it is a dog friendly place.
Plants And Flowers
Our intention was to find some late summer, early fall flowers. We did find these orange berries that are just beautiful and look exactly like fall, don’t they? Remember, Mom never knows the names of plants so we can’t tell you what they are.
She had me walk in the floating dock and I did it with almost no fear. I think it was impressive. The water is real clear and we saw a lot of little fish in the water. The photo is ugly, but what do you expect from small dark fish in September?
Back to flowers, we found these pretty purple ones just for me, Purple Girl.
Further down the path there were a lot of these mini purple daisy looking things.
The poor yellow flowers look tired. I think their lives are about done for the year.
Tiny, white mini, daisy plants are found all over the trails. They look quite nice still.
A Dog On Logs
It seems like a lot of trees have fallen along the paths, so Mom had me do some log and stump photos for fun.
Here I am balancing on a round log, it isn’t hard at all. I call this photo dog on a log.
Look at my muscles and watch out, timber! I am going to push thing thing over even if it takes me all day.
Our walk was only about forty five minutes, but we had a lot of fun and found some new trails we can visit again another day. Checking out new walking trails is always fun and walking is good for dogs and their humans!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
the fishies are great… we would love to catch them ;O) that is a wonderful place for dogs… we bet the smells in the air were fantabulous…
Lots of squirrel smell. I would not know how to catch the fish.
It’s fun being an only furChild even if it’s just for a short bit, isn’t it, Bailie. We love the orange mountain ash berries!
I always love the one on one time π The orange berries are super pretty.
How nice for a “happy day” after all the mishaps “on the road” … and we love all the nature photos, even the fishies! But especially all the dog-on-the-logs on the blog!
I think I make a good dog on a log.
Looks like it was great Mommy and me time!
It was. We both love to walk and explore new places.
Nice walk! Beautiful flowers!!
We love your ‘Mom and me time’ walk. Great balancing skills and muscle strength on display too! The berries are surely rowan aka mountain ash. We have lots of it here in Scotland too.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
It seems everyone knows about the pretty berries except for us, but now we too know. Our walk was quite nice.
OMDs what a fun fun fun Nature Friday walk about you have. The blooms are gorgeous. Thank you and mom for sharing the fun Nature on Friday
Hugs Cecilia
It was a lot of fun and amazingly, not many people walking, they were all there for the beach where I wasn’t allowed anyway.
What a nice walk. It does look a little warm for you still.
It was a bit on the warm side, but not as bad as earlier this summer.
You sure do look happy with your out n’ about Mom time. Lovely photos!!!
I’m always happy when I get to be with my mom.
I am happy that your mom makes mommy and me time just for you, Bailie. That looks like a very nice park. I’m not very good at spelling, but was the lake named after your very famous cartoonist? Happy nature Friday β£β€π₯°πXOXO Sparkle
I don’t know what the lake was named after. We have so many lakes and some have the same name, so it could be the Peanuts guy or maybe not π Nice thought, though.
Looks like a great mommy-and-me walk, Bailie! I’m glad you got to enjoy it!
Me too. I’m lucky she makes extra time for just me.
You sure look like you had fun! The fish are mostly various tyoes of sunfish/bluegill. the orange fruits are fragarant Summac (makes lovely drinks and frothy toppings for sundaes, pudding, muffins, etc). The pink and purple flowers are various Asters, Mom says she would need to key them out to be exact. The white ones look to be Shasta daisies. The yellow are true sunflowers, but again, Mom is not going to stake her reputation on which one without a botanical key. Mom used to know all these flowers, but mostly now she reverts back to her first taxonomy class and calls them “G.D.C.s” (God D—Composites) a botanical term used to say – ” the members of the Compositidae are tough to key out!”
But mom thanks you for the beauty you share and for photos os Bailie on all those logs. She is a sweet heart!
your G.B.G.V. friend, (lol) Chablis
Thank you for some lessons on the things we found. We enjoy the beauty so much we don’t always need to know what it is we are looking at.
what a lovely walk you and Mom had!! Love those photos of you by the log, sooo adorable!
Thank you. It was fun.
Wow, you found lots of flowers, we have those purple ones all over here right now too! We have to say though, we really enjoyed your “dog on a Log” series Bailie…and think you could be a cover girl for a lumberjack magazine for sure!!
Have a pawesome weekend!
Rosy and the Gang
It is kind of fun doing dog on a log stuff and Mom trusts me enough to drop my leash. I’m finally growing up some of the time I guess.
Wonderful nature and I love the fishes too. Adorable. I would have been there for a long time.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We wanted to walk and Mom doesn’t like to be in the woods for too long yet, she starts to get scared so we just walked, did photos which relaxes both of us and enjoyed being together in a pretty place.
It looks like a wonderful place to explore, i hope you get to go again soon.
I’m sure we will go there many times in the future. It’s time to find more of the trails there and check them out.
What a fun walk, and so many pretty flowers!
It was a gorgeous day with all the pretty flowers.
