Our six day road trip ended late on Tuesday night. We traveled through eight states and about two thousand nine hundred miles. Despite lots and lots of hours in the car, we had fun every day, and each day was different. Olivia and I now have traveled through thirteen of the same states. I added three new ones this trip, Olivia added five.
The first day was Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinios, and then part way through Indiana. We stopped to see the bronze statue of a boy with his tongue stuck to a real flagpole which pays tribute to the famous “pole licker” scene in the movie, A Christmas Story. Mom demonstrated how it goes, but didn’t put her tongue on the pole. See me in the background laughing?
Day two took us to Ohio and then Pennsylvania. Ohio has so much to see and do, we have to go back there one day! Among other things like the murals, we found the National Museum of the Great Lakes.
A big ship is docked there but dogs are not allowed on board. No problem, we will take a photo next to it instead. See Mom trying to get a good shot of us?
Me, I want to steer the ship. The steering wheel is big, but not any too big for little me. I may be small, but I am the leader in our pack.
We also found the giant propeller. Can you imagine how big the boat is that uses a propeller this size? I’m like an ant in comparison. Personally, I prefer to think of it as a giant flower.
The third day Olivia had her nose work trial all day. On day four we visited Mom’s family in Rochester, NY. Day five took us to the Detroit area of Michigan to see some of Laura’s family. Laura is Mom’s cousin and she came along with us but had other plans for the middle days of the trip. Day six, was the very long, eleven hour drive home. We had breakfast with some of Laura’s family, and went to see where Mom used to live when she was a flight attendant. Sadly that apartment complex is now in shambles but it was still fun to see it after so many years.
A six day road trip wears a girl out and we are no exception. Mom said maybe we should ride from the room to the car on the luggage cart to save some of our energy! We all had a great six days on the road and are looking forward to our next road trips, one starts tomorrow. Right now we have small ones planned, but there may be another big one in a few months.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Wow – you girls are very seasoned travelers! We love the photo of your mom and Flick sticking their tongues to the flagpole βΊ
Our mom can be so silly. She said she had to see that statue.
BOL BOL I love how much fun you mom is having with Ralphie and the flag pole scene.
Congrats on all the trekking around our beautiful country..
Well I’ll be the most adorable photo is of you 2 on the luggage caddy.
Too cute I smiled
Hugs Cecilia
It was a lot of fun and our longest trip yet. Glad you enjoyed our vacation report.
Wow! I donβt drive that much in a year. Sounds fantastic
It was a lot of car time, but we still had plenty of fun time.
Road trips can be a lot of fun, especially finding all the new smells!
Oh yes! Every place smells different and we were busy sniffers.
WOW! That’s some road trip!! Glad you all enjoyed it!
We did all have a Grand time.
You had a BIG bye bye in car! I just love hearing about your journeys and seeing your pictures. Have a successful weekend! XOXO Sparkle
We are hoping to bring home more pretty ribbons but who knows how it will go. I know we will have fun.
oh my that is amazing… and the first photo is just toooo cute words!
Thank you. It was a fun six days.
WOW!!! Your mom’s probably worn out from all that driving, but she still managed to have fun with you two and her cousin. Today my favorite pictures is you steering the boat. “Paws UP!”
Mom said it was a pretty relaxing trip. She doesn’t really enjoy driving, but we broke it up with fun stuff so it wasn’t so bad.
What a wonderful road trip you ladies went on with your Peep! Cinnamon would love to take a road trip. She used to travel quite a bit, but since we moved back to Midway, not so much. (She did get to go to the big city yesterday). We LOVE your photos and that propeller does look like a giant flower! And you look like a wonderful butterfly! But like any trips, I bet you all were happy to get back home and sleep in your own beds! Thank you for sharing you trip with us! We enjoyed seeing all these marvellous places.
We had a ton of fun but there is no better place for a good snooze than home. The next day we were ready to get in the car again but Mom left us behind. She was shocked we wanted to get back in the car. We’ll be heading out again tomorrow for a two day trip.
I’m glad you had such a fun time, you sure saw lots of pretty places!
Lots of interesting sites and smells plus new people with hands for petting us.
What a fun week you’ve had and I love all the photographs. I really like the first one. Your mom has a wonderful sense of humor.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
I think she loves our breed so much because we are goofy and she too enjoys being goofy. It’s all about having some fun!
WAIT A MINUTE!! You were in the DETROIT AREA and never told me!??????? WHAT!!?? I would have LOVED to have seen you and the dogs and you could have met Levi!! OMG!!! Also, next time you are back in Cleveland you can see the ACTUAL HOUSE from A Christmas Story because most of the movie was filmed in the Cleveland area.
I did mention we would be in the Detroit area, but it was very short. Got in at about 6pm and left in the morning. We had plans to meet Mom’s cousins relatives that night. The drive from Rochester that morning was over ten hours, so we were rather tired too. I’m sure we will be back in the area and will let you know. Our trip was really packed with so many hours of driving every day, we had only a few stops we could make each day.
We’re so glad you had such a fun and safe trip!!
It was a lot of fun but it sure was exhausting being on the road and or on the go for that many days.
It sounds like you had a good time! I enjoyed all your trip photos.
It was a really fun trip. We have never taken a longer trip like that before.
What a grand adventure!
It was a lot of fun and we hope we got to do a big adventure again one day.
Wow, you guys covered a whole lotta miles. Looks like everyone had a fun time on your trip.
We all had a blast and everything went even better than we had planned for. Hopefully we will do another big trip one day.
Wow you certainly packed a lot in on your 6 day adventure and had lots of fun, can’t even comprehend the distances you’ve travelled as the UK is tiny in comparison xxxx
The USA is huge and we still have a lot more area to cover!
You sure got to experience a lot on your road trip. We just returned from ours (also 6 days) but we didn’t leave the state of Texas! Your trip looks like fun!
All road trips are fun. One doesn’t have to always go far but going way east was fun for us.
