Sometimes a fun walk can go soggy and that is exactly what happened to Mom and me the other day. I had a vet appointment in the afternoon. Mom suggested we go for a nice walk first to make the vet thing seem less bad. The weather peeps told us it would not rain until at least three and we would be done walking by two, so no problem, right? Wrong.
The first half of our walk was great. Sure it was cloudy, but we prefer walking in cooler weather and it was dry. I found this big, downed tree to jump up on and pose with. Actually, I take that all back. This is where things started to go bad. Mom took my sisters walking here at Cleary Lake Regional Park earlier this year. The plan was to take that same path but after this photo, we realized we were not on the right trail.
We did some back and forth and Mom did some thinking, finally getting us back on the right track. Everything looks different now without leaves and we were almost the only ones out walking. Mom is directionally challenged, and can get lost walking around the block, so being on the wrong trail is nothing new, but we needed to get to my appointment on time.
The trail is 3.3 miles long with areas in the woods, some off trail paths, and an asphalt walkway. They have trash cans out all along the way to which makes humans happy. Once my business was completed, we didn’t have to carry it too far before we found a trash can.
Look at these giant rocks! Boy do they look fun. I decided to climb up on top of the biggest one for a photo. This is also the point in our walk where we started to feel rain drops which quickly turned into rain showers.
There are lots of fun spots for photos but the soggy weather put a damper on the photography. Mom doesn’t want her camera to get drenched. This spot by the lake is a bit sheltered with the trees, so we could take a photo here.
The rain did not give up and actually got heavier as we approached the parking lot. Both Mom and I were pretty wet but we decided to take one last photo on the dock. Thankfully, we have towels in the car so I could get myself dried off a bit and cleaned up as well. We rolled into my appointment a bit soggy, but right on time. Despite the water, we still had a fun walk.

at least you came in time and you got good news ;O) we love the sign what says no retractable leashes… oh how we wish we had such signs here too….
We used to use them a lot because we walk when we don’t see many other people or dogs but Mom’s thumb started having issue from pushing the button, so we quit.
HA!! The rain!! It happens… mom has learned not to get upset with it — just like you said, she towels us off and that’s all we can do! We enjoy being out on a walk no matter what so that is what makes mom happy. Glad (?) you made your appointment. Hope all went well. have a good day. your friend Lilly
It had the makings of a problem walk, but we worked through it all and all ended well!
Oh ~ you are adorable ~ even ‘soggy’ ~ great photos of your lovely walk ~ glad you took care of Mom ~ Xo ~ Happy Monday ~

I look better dry, but when it rains I get wet and there is nothing to do about it.
Your mom loves you so very much. She may be feeling about her trip away from you in December when I get the joy of meeting your mom, Madison, and Olivia! XOXO Sparkle
She enjoys being with me because I’m much easier to handle than the two peas in a pod. I wasn’t always easy but it comes with age I guess. Sometimes I can still be a bit wild. I’m just glad I don’t have to go to Florida. I’ve been a few times and it is way too much car time for me.
Your mom is so good to all of you. Taking you on a walk before a vet visit is a brilliant idea. Alone time with mom is always a treat.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and a hug to mom. β₯
I just needed a quick blood test to get my prescription renewed but she knows the vet stresses me out, so why not have some fun first to make it all seem not so bad.
Nothing is worse than getting wet on a fun walk. Bummer.
It was a bummer. Luckily it was cold out so Mom was wearing a coat and she could tuck her big camera under the coat to keep it dry.
Well at least you and Mom finished your walk, even with that pesky rain!
The weather guessers guess, and sometimes they guess wrong!
They do guess and are very often wrong as was the case on this day. Water doesn’t hurt us at least.
Well we think that any walk is wonderful even if it does rain….we won’t melt!
No, we walk in all weather, but it does make a mess and Mom doesn’t like us to go places soaking wet if we can help it.
There is nothing like a good walk in the rain!!!
If you are prepared for it, it isn’t so bad.
You two certainly made the most of your trip to the vet! I’m glad that you found your way and didn’t get so drenched that the vet threw you out π Great photos!
We did apologize as soon as we got there, but they said it didn’t matter since it is raining out. My furs were wet, but most of the dirt was wiped off by then.
We love you walks and Cleary Lake Park sure looks like fun. We are glad that your Mom found the right path. And about rain, Cinnamon loves to go for walks in it, she absolutely loves to be towelled! She says if feels fabulishious! We bet you and your Peep had a terrific time together (We love your wet dog photo on the dock).
Olivia has no time for toweling off, I enjoy it and am good about even holding up my paws so they can get wiped. Bailie is good about getting toweled off too. We had a nice time despite the rain.
