The Windy 500 Race is on! Olivia and I have an odd relationship. We get along, have similar personalities, we hunt together, but are not really best friends. The high winds and cool weather have put us both in the mood to get wild and race around the yard. We are having a standoff/challenge to decide what we want to do before our race begins.
I may be eight years old, but I still have lots of puppy in my furs. It doesn’t happen often but I’m not afraid to pull out my play bow to let others know I’m ready to get my wild pants on.
And, we are off to the races! We love being chased, so we switch the chaser and chased positions up all the time.
The two of us run at a similar speed when we play our racing games. After seeing the photos, Mom is wondering why if we run at the same speed, I am almost five seconds slower in FastCAT than Olivia? This is a secret I am not going to tell anyone.
Now Olivia is after me. Just so you know, the wind gusts are twenty to thirty miles an hour, so there are flying leaves, a plastic bag flying about in our yard, and occasional snow flurries. Some of these things may be seen in the photos.
And another switch. I’m after Olivia with crazed eyes!
Someone applied the breaks and we almost had a collision! Look at the flying ears with the quick stops!
Can you tell how much fun I am having racing around at top speeds?
Now I am catching up to Olivia. I may just grab her in the heels of those big back paws.
It’s always a back and forth. Now Olivia is right on my heels. Good thing we are not really dogs who nip at others. She sure looks determined to catch me!
We will leave our Windy 500 Race with the final photo where we are each looking at each other, wondering if we should take a quick break or not. Racing around in the cool air with lots of wind sure make us winded, but it is a lot of fun!

We really out ran ourselves and we had some nice napping afterwards.

We just love chasing so we switch off who gets to be the chaser sometimes.
