Last weekend I was at Sam’s Christmas Village. Mom and a friend took me along with them to check out this dog friendly holiday lights display. It was super amazing and even we dogs had a great time.
The parking lot is absolutely huge and then we walked down a pretty snowy walking path to the main entrance. This place is huge – over eight million lights and over a mile of walking trails through the displays.
To get to the lights, you pass through the light tunnel which goes down a hill, and the lights overhead change in color and patterns all the time. At first it was confusing for me, but I realized it is nothing to worry about.
Right out of the tunnel this train is waiting for the guests. Mom learned right away that taking photos of lights in the dark, and sometimes with me, is not easy. We did the best we could, but sometimes I may be a bit dark or things don’t seem correctly balanced.
The entire park is nestled into a forest of light. How would you like to put all these lights on the trees? It would be quite a job!
You will see the world as you walk around the trails. Peace is the word that we could not get into the photo. We think this globe is pretty. It can be seen in the light forest in the previous photo.
Don’t worry if you are lost in the forest of lights, somewhere in the world. This sign will help you to find your way to your destination.
Our weather friends are also here at Sam’s Christmas Village if you need a quick forecast. This photo frame opp is really high up. I stretched as long as I could to get my eyes and nose into the frame. Do you see me in there on the bottom right side?
At one point some camels were walking along side of the walking path.
It turns out they are headed to the manger straight ahead!
Thankfully they have the jumbo Adirondack chairs all over the place. Sometimes a girl needs to just put her paws up for a while. You know my sisters and I love to find these big chairs.
Santa is also hanging out at Sam’s Christmas Village. This guy is absolutely huge, but I was not at all afraid of him.
Real Santa is also here, but I didn’t want to wait in line to see him. Instead, I found the other side of the truck he was at to take a cute old truck photo.
The night we went was military night. There is an entire area with all military items in lights. We like the bright green tank the best.
As I said, Sam’s is a huge place, so rather than show you way too many photos, I am saving some for next Friday. Stop back next week to see what else we found!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Those lights are amazing and how very cool you got to go check it out!
We love it when things like this are dog friendly. It was cold but freezing a bit was well worth it.
I would love going there with Bogie, just to see his reaction to everything! Poor Ducky would just be overwhelmed by it all.
Great photos considering the darkness obstacle!
The lighting for Mom was something new and it took her a long time to start figuring out the right settings. It was a lot of fun, and so much to see.
Oh my Dogs and OM STARS
WOW I’m nearly speechless (that rarely happens). What an absolutely gorgeous post. I’ll be coming back here to show my husband. WOW
Thank you for the tour and thank you for taking the beautiful photos
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you! It is so much better when you see it in the furs but photos give you an idea. Come back next Friday for my part two. I didn’t want to post a bizillion photos all at once today. Next week has some fun stuff and gorgeous ornaments, plus Mom started figuring out the lighting with her camera settings π
Holiday lights are so beautiful and people do such amazing things with them. Your light adventure was a lot like the place my mom went also on Sunday night. Big difference is she did not take me! Humbug! XOXO Sparkle
Mom and I were chuckling when we heard your mom went without you. This place is also drive through on Mondays and Tuesdays but we wanted to take it in at our speed and take photos, so walking was the better option. Thankfully it was pretty cold with heavy winds and a Sunday night so it wasn’t really crowded.
we love love love that place…. we have no christmas events here this year… but we can watch it via your blog… btw: da nelly wants that tank… is that possible ? ;O)))
Sure, you can have the tank! Merry Christmas to you π The US is doing everything like it used to be pretty much and we are super thankful. Mom is very thankful she moved back from Germany in 2007. She had planned to stay there forever, but she would be very unhappy there since COVID happened.
Wow! What a fabulous place to visit. I canβt imagine the electricity bill
It is probably not as bad as before the new kinds of bulbs but I’m sure it is big. They have lots of visitors, so I think they do alright, and if you order food or drink, it is not cheap either.
What a lot of lights!
You could say we were definitely lit that night!
What a cool spot to visit! We love all the lights!!!
It was really fun and I liked looking around and seeing some other dogs too. People loved me as I was on my best behavior and no one could believe how well I pose. Some young guy even came over and took a selfie with me, so I kissed him for the selfie for laughs. All his college friends loved it π
Wow! you sure brightened MY day!
How fun. I would have loved to go along with you. Beautiful.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches all around and a hug to your mom. β₯
We recommend it to anyone in the area. It is very well done.
Wow, just wow! What an amazing place to visit. That Santa Claus must be the biggest ever!
I’m just thankful he didn’t step on me, LOL!
WOW! This is so terrific! We are impressed with the beautiful light display and the fact that they allow dogs is AWESOME! Mom has found (up here in the great white North), that lots of places that used to allow dogs no longer do. We hope you guys have a marvellously HAPPY weekend.
We always think our state isn’t very dog friendly but Mom compares it to Germany which is way over the top dog friendly. So many places really are not dog friendly at all. We are lucky.
What fun! We have Christmas in the Oaks in NOLA, but nothing like that here, and i don’t even know if they’re doing th Oaks this year with the restrictions.
Thanks for the fun tour, i’m looking forward to next week!
This place was great and it was the first time to go to such a thing for all of us. We just loved it. Thankfully there aren’t really any restrictions around here.
Wow – everything is so beautiful and you are so lucky to be the chosen one, Bailie! That Santa is HUGE!
I am lucky as we had a really fun time and it was great to see such wonderful displays.
Oh my goodness, what a pawsome light display!!!
xoxo,
Rosy, Sunny & Jakey
It is amazing and just goes on and on. I had a fun time.
What a wonderful and festive display (8 million lights? WOW!), and how awesome that dogs are welcome!
It was fantastic and so much fun!
Wow, that’s one impressive light show!
It was amazing and so fun to get to go along.
