We sure had some road trip fun on the first day of our trip to the AKC Invitational in Florida. We went from a huge snowstorm to a touch of Sweden, to a great hotel!
The day before we left, we got hit hard with a snowstorm that started around noon Friday and lasted about fourteen hours dumping some fifteen inches of snow in our area! We adore snow and nothing beats a good snowstorm, but we were leaving town at seven in the morning. Thankfully, Minnesota is good about clearing roads. We left a little after seven, and the roads were not too bad. After two hours of driving, we could travel the speed limit and the roads started to be dry.
We traveled south to Iowa, and then on to Missouri the first day. Swedesburg was our one main touristy stop of the day. The day we drove to our breeder to pick up Olivia we stopped in this town. Olivia said she would like to stop and see it for herself. She can be as stubborn as a Yule goat sometimes, so we stopped to check it out again.
Of course, one has to take a photo with the fourteen foot Dala Horse too. It’s a shame there was no snow in the area, but the dry pavement let us travel faster. The Dala Horse is really friendly.
There is an old church in Swedesburg, and they happen to have a huge manger scene for Christmas. Being real people dogs, we stopped by to say, “hi”, and to snap a photo with all the folks at the manger.
After Swedesburg it was off to our hotel in the St. Louis area. Our day one road trip fun ended with a photo by the pretty Christmas tree in the lobby. The trip could have been a disaster, but we were lucky to get out of town despite the snow, and we missed the tornadoes in Missouri. Hopefully the rest of our trip will be as lucky as this day was!
My GBGV Life is joining Comedy Plus for some Wordless Wednesday fun.
it was a great idea to stop there… it is a nice place… please be careful and we hope the weather is with da traveling hounds and their mama…
We missed all the storms by a day. Yesterday we saw some of the terrible destruction in Kentucky. Really sad, but we are having fun on our trip.
Frosty paws to Sandy Paws.
I heard there was a ton of snow coming you way…
Hugs Cecilia
It was a wonderful snowstorm but we are kind of bummed we didn’t get to stay and play in it.
Great photos! I’m glad the weather was with you girls for the first day of of your road trip! Be careful out there!! Those tornadoes were horrific. I feel and pray for all affected by them. Enjoy the trip!!
We only saw a small amount of the destruction and it looked really bad.
Great pictures! Glad you missed those horrible storms.
We are super glad too!
Bummer that you had to leave all of that snow behind but thank goodness you’re able to travel on the snow-free roads ……..and thank goodness you missed all of the tragic tornado stuffs! The hotel Christmas tree is so pretty! Travel safe, girls!
We really got lucky with the weather. Our trip has been great so far!
How fun and you’re taking us along too. Even better. You’re all so cute and I love that lobby Christmas tree.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
Yes, there will be some Christmas this week but some travel as well.
You two are just so adorable and cute ~ glad you had a good trip and safe ~ Wonderful photos ~ and love the Swedish theme ~ I used to decorate with the horses and other items too ~ You two fur babies are the best decoration for the tree ~ Xo

Oh, thank you. We finally got to Florida, but we had a great time on the way down and did lots of fun stuff.
Sounds like you off today winning start.
So far everything has been going really well.
You girls sure planned that trip right. Glad you were not caught up in the tornadoes! I had to go into the basement to hide and my old legs, and reduced eyesite do NOT do steps in either direction. Mom says next time we will all hide in the hall bathroom. I was really a sore guy after that ordeal!

We heard how scary it was. We would be in our basement if we had tornadoes in the area. Glad you all are safe.
Thankful you missed those horrible, deadly storms! I am getting excited about seeing youuuuuuuuuuuuuu! XOXO, Sparkle
We are here and Mom is working on setting something up. Tonight we are just happy to be done driving for a while.
Oh Our Goodness! What an adventure you are having. Be safe and enjoy!!! We love the pictures. your friend Lilly
Thank you. We had three full days of sightseeing and driving but are now happy to be in Florida.
Looks like things are off to a great start!

So far so good. Tomorrow we get to practice FastCAT for the first time down here.
WOW, such wonderful photos and I’m so glad you didn’t get snowed in!
We were worried the snow might throw a wrench in our plans but we lucked out.
Hooray for adventures!
We have had three days of adventures and now the biggest one begins tomorrow. It is a lot of fun.
We are glad that you drove out of the snow and missed the tornadoes. We are purraying that the rest of your voyage is calm too. The weather guessers are telling us we are to have blizzards all week! But they said we would have them all Caturday and Sunday and it was actually wonderful weather all weekend!
Right now it is all blue skies and sunshine. Tomorrow we get to do our first runs down here and we can’t wait!
If I hadn’t grown up with Cocker Spaniels, I might be persuaded to have a GBGV, They are awesome looking canines.
Thank you. We always feel we are a bit like Cocker Spaniels with our size and long ears π
Glad y’all missed da storms.
We were really lucky!
My initial reaction was maybe you went to an IKEA store. LOL Great photos. Love all the snow you guys received.
LOL, I don’t think we are allowed to go there.
OMG I cannot get over all of the snow you have had already! We have barely had anything! It even got up to 61 degrees today! (freaky!)
Sadly, it was in the 50’s Wednesday at home and then it rained and it all has turned to ice and most of the snow is gone. We hope they get more before we are back home.
