Olivia and I are working hard on our squirrel resolution. We all decided 2022 is going to be the year we capture one of those nasty tree rats. Believe me, we are mighty determined. Madison enjoys chasing them, but Olivia and I are very serious about it. We spent ten dollars of our own money to buy a bag of squirrel food. Hopefully with better food we will find more squirrels in our yard. It seems to be working better than the cracked corn and bird food we had before.
The problem is they hang out on the ground and other low places but when they see us, they scram. Squirrels climb trees and then hop onto another tree, or run along top of the fence. We can’t catch them. It is simply not fair!
Olivia enjoys sniffing the squirrel smell on the tree trunk. It is super fresh, so the squirrel cannot be too far away!
I can smell it too. The squirrel is not up in the tree, so he must have left the yard…again!
Darn you, tree rat! Where in the world did you go? Come back and tease us so we have a change to grab you by the tail! They are making me a bit cranky.
Olivia is checking the top of the fence. It appears the guy jumped from the tree to the fence and ran along the top of the fence for a distance.
The squirrel resolution we have is not going to be easy to accomplish but Olivia and I will do our best. She has a super nose and is very thorough. Rechecking the tree scent to make sure which direction the guy went is a great idea.
There’s nothing else we can do except track around and try to find a way to ambush the squirrels when they are not expecting us. The new food is a good investment as they love it and are coming by with friends. Now to set up a capture somehow.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
that is a super plan! we hope it will work…. da nelly bought sardine in oil from all our pocket money so we have to wait till next week… do you think it works with berds too?
I don’t know what birds eat as we are not interested in birds, just furry critters. Last night Olivia was inches away from killing a rabbit when it made it through the fence and escaped. So much excitement!
You girls keep at it and maybe your luck will take a turn for the better!!!
We need help learning how to climb trees I think.
We hope the new food works and you girls catch these pesky squirrels!
We are really working hard but we still can’t climb trees and that is a big disadvantage.
LOL! Those squirrels are real sneaky. We have a couple that come in the yard and when we chase them they go into the tree in the neighboring yard and tease us!
Ours do the same thing. They are extremely rude!
Go get those squirrels, girls!! We have a squirrel feeder on the tree but it’s empty. The squirrels just kept throwing the food on the ground, making a big mess. And these two hooligans would eat it and end up with upset tummies.
Olivia sometimes eats the food on the ground, but not enough to bother her. We just need to get more squirrels here so they forget about us dogs and we can sneak up on them.
Good luck! I know you will keep us up to date. XOXO Sparkle
Last night, Olivia almost caught her second rabbit, it was just inches from happening. Now we need to get inches from the squirrels.
Do you really want to catch one? What will you do with it once you get it?
Mom calls us serial killers. We capture rabbits, break their neck, drop them and move on. I think we will do the same with a squirrel. Mom did find Olivia and Madison playing tug a war with a rabbit they killed, but the dropped it when she asked them to. Critters are no fun when they stop moving.
Well it will be grand fun trying, but we all know your mom isn’t going to let you hurt a tree rat. Our angel Little Bit loved chasing them too. She never caught any though.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
Mom will let it happen. It has been happening to rabbits for 14 years now. It is our instinct and she isn’t outside to stop us all the time. We really want a squirrel, it would be a huge accomplishment. Hunting is what we do and we are good at it.
Sweet photos of you dear doggies ~ think you might enjoy the ‘chase’ more than actually catching one of those ‘tree rats’ ~ they are nasty critters ~ be safe ~ Xo
Wishing you a happy day,

We enjoy the chase for sure, as chase is one of our favorite games!
You guys are terrific squirrel hunters! We love the photos of you around your yard in the snow. Cinnamon loves to chase them but has never caught any…Mr Kozmo is pretty good at catching them so not too many of them visit our yard any more.
Would Kozmo like to come and stay with us for a while? We need some help with the climbing part of catching squirrels.
Does your mom know what you two are up to??? I think she would be better off buying you an automated fastcat line with a squirrel tail attached, and some critter repellant to keep the live squirrels out. That way you could chase/practice your runs all day/anytime and still have squirrel smell. We used to have rabbits in our yard, but Mr. Peabody (our PBGV predecessor) killed enough of them that they left. Our yard is Squirrel paradise…loaded with them, but I haven’t managed to catch any either.
Chablis
We still have rabbits and we kill them regularly but their friends and families keep coming back. It would really be cool to finally get a squirrel!
Oh my squirrels are clever little irritaters! I thought the bag first said Squirrel Quitters! Obviously NOT! Cheers!
It is squirrel and critter food. The squirrels seem to really like it, so now we need to sneak up on them.
Please be nice to the squirrels. They have families, too!
They should also be nice to us. The tease us and throw things out of the trees at us.
It seems like you have a wonderful plan all set up for these squirrels. But they are very sneaky and quick as well. We know that you will come out on top. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post. Have a great time with the hunt.
We have a big goal, but hopefully with perseverance we will be able to reach it.
We hope you catch a rascally squirrel or two. They bug us all the time from high up in the trees. We’re not fans of them-they do so much damage to trees and have chewed through a couple of window screens trying to get inside our house-can you believe it? Doggone tree rats!!
Your fur-iends,
Norman & Elsa πΎ
Now getting a squirrel in the house would sure be something. If that happened, cat bro Bert would be hunting on our team as he is big on hunting.
