Healthy homemade pet treats are always something we are looking for! Last weekend at our barn hunt trial, there was a stand with some mighty tasty smelling treats not far from our kennels. Mom had to check them out, and of course, she ended up buying some for us! I don’t care much for barn hunt but if they sell treats at the event, count me in!
My GBGV Life purchased the products in this review for our own use. My GBGV Life receives no benefits for barking about Rustic Acres products. The opinions in this review are the honest opinion of My GBGV Life. Rustic Acres is not responsible for the contents of this post.
The treat lady brought mostly chicken and beef treats. Some are dehydrated, some freeze dried. Did you know you can actually keep freeze dried treats for up to twenty five years? They would never last nearly that long at our house, so we are not worried about their shelf life. Freeze dried treats also keep ninety seven percent of their nutrientsย Dehydrated foods can only be kept for up to four years, but that is also too long for our house. We like to eat our treats in a timely manner.
Mom grabbed a flyer so we would have the information we need to order more treats in the future. Lately we have had a lot of chicken, so we chose beef products. Normally the treat lady has some rabbit products, but they sold out right away. How that could happen we don’t know! She makes all the products on her farm with no additives.
After thinking over the choices for a whole day, we opted to purchase some beef heart and beef tripe snacks. Lately we get some beef heart in our dinners once a week and we love it. This is a great way to get that yummy flavor in not so messy, treat form. We all love tripe, so anything in a tripe treat is also pawsome!
I eat the beef heart so fast, Mom can’t get a photo of me, but I think my “after tongue” tells it all. They are super yummy and really good for us too. Beef heart is an organ meat. Organ meats are packed with heavy doses of B vitamins such as: B1, B2, B6, folic acid and vitamin B12. They are also loaded with minerals like phosphorus, iron, copper, magnesium and iodine, and provide the important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Beef heart is a good that is super healthy, but needs to be eaten in moderation because of the high fat content.
We also have the freeze dried beef tripe, yum! Both the heart and tripe are things that humans throw out but we are happy to eat them instead! Tripe is the stomach lining, in this case, of cows. It is super tasty but humans find it rather disgusting and smelly. Tripe is really good for us dogs. It is full of protein for strong muscles and bones. Protein also helps provide pups with the energy we need for the day and it helps us grow thick, healthy furs.
It is no trouble at all for me to snarf these yummy homemade pet treats down in a nano second! They are really delicious, and so good for us pups! These yummy treats are made here in Minnesota. If you want to order some, you can do so on the Rustic Acres website. Their site doesn’t have a lot of photos and stuff, but if you know what you are interested in, it still works to order. We always like to support small businesses and ones close to home are even better!

The treats look sooooo yummy! We’re off to check out their website, Bailie!
These treats are super yummy. Mom is being stingy, saving them for our next trials because we love them so much.
Lovely treats and as for that tongue – i wish I had one like that!
Hmmm, that would really be something to see on a human!
We love treats like those too! Bailie, you look super happy with those, we may need to get some even though that is not local for us in California!
Since they would last for 25 years, shipping for a few days should not be a problem, LOL! They are real tasty!
Sounds like some great treats. It is hard to find tripe. Beef hearts, rabbit, and tripe are my girls’ favorites. They love the freeze dried.
We’ve had turkey and chicken heart freeze dried but beef only raw and we love it that way too. Good stuff. Tripe is disgusting for people, but Mom gets it anyway since we love it so much.
Oh, YUM! Bailie, you are such a fantastic saleswoman for those treats. XOXO Sparkle
I’m the family foodie I think. Madison is still rather picky, but not as bad as she used to be and Olivia just snarfs stuff down without even tasting it I think. I really enjoy what I am eating.
Iโm glad someone eats tripe and hearts. Not me
It’s awesome because most humans don’t want those things. Instead of tossing out the good stuff, we are happy to take it.
Having healthy treats is essential. Many treats are just not good for our babies. I’m not surprised that your mom goes the extra mile to make sure you’re getting healthy treats. You’ve a wonderful mom.
Have a woof woof Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. โฅ
She is always looking for more good and healthy stuff for us to eat, but now she is also working on making her own diet even better.
These treats look really delicious. We hope you enjoyed them and thanks for sharing the information on the shelf life of certain treats. But we know that treats do not last long in any pet parents house. Have a great rest of your day
If treats stay on a shelf that long, something would be terribly wrong with that home! We want to eat them all as soon as possible.
those look really good and I may have to give them a try! I was looking for some new treats yesterday for Levi and was so discouraged, I came home with nothing!
Mom went to PetSmart for something the other day and wanted to bring us back a treat but there wasn’t anything for her to get. Everything was more junk food for dogs which we don’t even really like to eat these days. Almost everything we have for snacks is ordered online from great places with healthy options.
We ran right over to their site and are ordering rabbit braids and tripe. Now we need to go back and hearts! How could we forget them???
Don’t forget the hearts, they are amazing! Enjoy when that package arrives!
How wonderful you got some nice yummy treats and we can tell that they sure were a hit! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Super good stuff and good for our health too.
Local farms that provide real food are a blessing!
We only get real food these days and local is always the best.
Oh WOW! Those look totally yummy (even to us cats) we LOVE Freeze Dried treats! Mom can buy a bag and us cats and Cinnamon can have them. Those tripe ones look mighty tasty, and the rabbit ones sound wonderful! Mom says she is going to keep an eye out for some up here. We hope you guys and your peep have a marveoously happy week!
The cats can have a lot of our treats too, but Mom gets them their own so we don’t have to share with them. These are super yummy!
