A woods walk on a blustery, yet sunny winter day is a lot of fun. Since we are in a cold spell, not too many people have been out walking about, so most of the snow was still pristine.
The main trail is really wide and has been pretty well traveled. Mom and I enjoy going more off road on side trails deeper into the woods. Still, sometimes it is nice to be on the packed down snow. The temperature barely got into the single digits Saturday which means, my head furs like to stand on end.
Cold days after some fresh snow are always the most beautiful. The sun shines and the sky is such a pretty shade of blue. It is a great time to take outdoor photos. I don’t mind being the subject of the photos either. Do you think this photo makes me look puffy? I feel like I look a lot bigger and heavier in the shoulders with the angle.
Naturally, with beautiful weather, the squirrels are all out and about, teasing dogs and things like that. I could not focus on the camera when squirrels were in the trees right off the side of the main path!
Mom and I saw a lot of downed trees on our woods walk. When we wade into the deeper parts of the forest, I pose on the fallen trunks or stumps we find. Our walk was only about half an hour as we needed to get to Gramma’s house, and it was cold out. Mom didn’t take many photos because she didn’t want to take her gloves off. Her hands are always too cold, even with gloves on. Still we had a real fun walk out in the brisk, fresh air. It’s healthy to be out and about rather than cooped up inside the house.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
that is a super winter day… and we hope you can get some of the squirrels…
One day I will get one, I just know it!
Each of your photos are lovely…and might I add you are quite the poser…my favorite is #4…you are truly stopping to sniff all the wonderful fresh scents surrounding you. We humans need to learn to embrace all around us like you are doing.
Hugs cecilia
Thank you. I was very distracted by the squirrel in photo #4, but I stayed put at least. Mom is trying to learn to slow down and smell the roses along our walks but it isn’t easy training her.
Gail is super impressed that your mom took any photos at all given the temperatures. She says her mittens would have remained firmly in place on her hands. But oh how lovely to see all that pristine snow, and you looking so splendid too. (Does it ever get so cold that you need to wear a coat, or are your thick furs always sufficient, we are wondering?)
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
None of us ever wear a coat, just boots if it is more than -10 Fahrenheit because our paws hurt on the snow in that cold of weather. Mom says when we get old we may need a coat, but for now we are all warm enough. Mom is the one who gets cold sometimes.
My mom says there is a beautiful hush with the winter snows. I never heard it as I was having way too much fun playing in the snow back when I was a baby. XOXO Sparkle
We all love going out super early in the morning when it is still dark out, streets are not plowed, and no one is out. It is so quiet and beautiful, truly amazing and peaceful.
I know you all love the snow and we always enjoy your moms photography. Downed trees are scary when they are near our homes though. Our neighbor lost one this year. Scary.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your wonderful mom. β₯
No one heard these downed trees because they fell in the forest. We don’t want any falling on houses but the ones in the woods can be fun to play on.
Pristine snow, fallen trees and wide paths make for warm memories – in spite of BRRRRing temperatures! Over the river and THOUGH the woods to Grandmother’s house we go!
It was super pretty and fresh out there. We had a good time.
We applaud you and your mom for being out in those SuperCold temps, Bailie! Beautiful photos!
Mom always wants to go out no matter what the weather. We go along to keep an eye on her.
What a beautiful winter wonderland you got to walk in!! We get snow just north of our new city and hope Mama and Daddy will take us up to at least see it!!
xoxo,
Rosy
What a lovely day for a short walk!
Cold weather always brings sunshine and we love that!
That looks like some “cool” place to walk and you sure look pretty out there!
It was cool in more ways than just one!
Pups always seem to hold up to the cold better than we do. You look beautiful out in the snow!
Thank you. Mom is good in the cold. She loves to be out in it but her hands to get cold sometimes.
It even looks cold! What a wonderful walk!
It was cold, but beautiful and we had a nice time together.
That was nice walk and you look adorable!
Thank you.
Wow, we love these pictures of you in the snow. Your mom did an amazing job capturing the fun outing the two of you had!
Thank you. We had a fun little walk. Winter is a wonderful time of the year.
