Have you made heart cookies for your pup yet? Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, so you really need to get baking for your dog. I made these honey, peanut butter, oat cookies and they are super delicious! Even our own Madison loves them and we all know she can be a super picky hound!
Baking The Cookies
You know I love to bake, but I am not good at complicated recipes, so this is another easy one anybody can make! Only five ingredients are needed for these cookies, six if you want to do some fancy decorating with carob after they bake and cool. Grab my recipe at the end of this post and start baking!
We got a new food processor and it works perfectly for me and my baking endeavors. I start by grinding up the oats into an oat flour. Next I add in the rest of the ingredients. Pawing at the pulse button with my paw, the ingredients slowly form a nice dough consistency. I flour the counter and roll out the dough. Using my Valentine cookie cutter I cut out my heart cookies. I should end up with around three dozen delightfully tasty cookies.
Since I’m all about the taste, I have to always sample my work. My tongue reaches out and grabs some of my dough. Yes, I can say with 100% certainty, these cookies are going to make dogs drool. Yummy!
It takes a lot of time to cut out all the hearts, but finally I am finished and ready to stick my cookie sheet into the oven. Thankfully they only need to bake about ten minutes. Before we can try them, or decorate them they will need to cool completely. It is below freezing here in Minnesota, so I will put them outside for about five minutes and they will be cooled off.
Decorating Your Heart Cookies
Valentines cookies should be fancy, so I melt some of my carob chips for decorating. I dip some of the hearts in the carob, and I drizzle some carob on the others. Don’t they look nice and fancy?
For serving, load your cookies onto a plate. Be careful not to leave them unattended as you dog will try to steal some. Yes, they are really that tasty!
I am really proud of my Valentines heart cookies as you can see in my smile. Would you like to bake some for your pup? Give my recipe a try. I am certain your furry pup will love these cookies as much as we do. She will be super thankful that you bake for her too!

guess what? we made heart cookies too… but they look not as good as yours… do you think our paws are way to clumsy to make pawfect hearts?
You should be French bakers, so I don’t know how you could go wrong?
We love your smile, Bailie! And we love that you cook; we will get our Mom to help up make these cookies. Oatmeal is good for all of us!
Oatmeal is very good for us and these cookies taste delicious.
oh our goodness! That last photo of you smiling made mom and me giggle this morning!! Mom doesn’t bake for us, but for some reason she said she just might give this recipe a try! Thanks Bailie! have a good day your friend Lilly
These cookies have had me smiling a lot. They are so good and we all just love them. Your mom should give baking these a try.
Your smile says it all,Bailie! Those look both beautiful and yummy. Bone Apetit! XOXO Sparkle
They are very good and even though I made 3 dozen, they are not lasting very long. Somehow they just disappear.
I will be baking these cookies on Saturday and some people cookies too! Thank you Bailie for another great recipe! Sending you girls Valentine kisses. Love your smile Bailie!
I enjoy smiling when I’m baking. It is a good hobby that rewards me instantly! I know your pup will love these cookies as much as we do and they are easy to make as are all the things I bake.
Making your own treats is a good thing because you can control what goes in them. Far more healthy. Your mom rocks and so do you.
Have a woof woof day and rest of the week. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We have mostly single ingredient stuff like lungs or other parts of animals but baking is fun too when we get to choose what we put in our cookies.
