Lots of folks have been asking us how cat bro Bert’s fur troubles are doing. Well, as you can see, I am not particularly concerned. As long as he leaves me and my bed alone, everything is fine.
What have we seen since his vet visit? Just a day or two after getting some medications he started eating all his food again and demanding more food than Mom will give him. Whenever he stops eating it always means something is really wrong. After five days we removed his cone which makes him very happy.
He also stopped throwing up all over the place, thank dog for that. Having two cats we don’t know who is the cause of the troubles, but the throwing up was definitely Bert. He had also been going the the bathroom outside the litter box and that too has stopped.
Bert is back to being a cranky old man cat, yelling at us and Mom all the time. These are all signs that he feels better. We have also noticed he has not lost any more furs but that doesn’t mean his fur troubles are gone. He has not grown new furs yet. The furs he does have look more like they used to, not so weird.
His belly is still a concern. It isn’t bright red anymore, but it is still furless and not entirely free of being red. He is still taking pills for another two weeks. They are slowly being tapered off. We are giving it some time and if it seems to not get better, he will have to see the vet again.
On another more happy note, we have this bird. Isn’t it adorable? The guy flew into the window and knocked himself silly the other night. Mom carefully moved him outside our fenced yard so he would have a chance to safely recover. The next morning he was gone. We have never seen such a bird before, but he sure is cute and we are happy he survived.

we send lots of potp to cat bro Bert… and we hope da furs will grow back…. a big hug to your mama for helping that little guy …
She adopted him, she needs to care for him even if he is a grumpy old man these days.
We send Bert lots of AireZen and healing vibes and we hope that he’s back to 100% soon. That looks like a baby cardinal to us. What a cutie!
The bird is so pretty! Bert seems to be doing well, hopefully it will continue.
Dear Bert ~ such a handsome boy (this is me, June here) shouldn’t lose your purrty furs, hope you get better soon … BTW, I always want more food than I receive, too. It’s hard when the hu-moms are stingy that way …
Bye Bye Birdie, fly high now!
All the girls, including Mom, in our house are thin and athletic but they tease me because I’m chubby. Oh well. Hopefully my belly furs will come back again soon.
Yes I agree a baby male cardinal probably.
Bert I’m so happy you feel better and are back to being Boss Man of the house hold (as is should be). You are a very very handsome mancat
Hugs Cecilia
My sisters won’t listen to me but I keep fighting for my position. The bird is so cute.
Dear Bert, I hope you are feeling better. I am so sorry your siblings are not treating you better. After all, you are part of the family. I hope that your hair will grow back and your belly gets better.
Growing up our house had huge floor to ceiling, entire wall windows. We had tons of birds fly into the windows all the time. My mother started closing the drapes to help. Some died, some we rescued, others were just stunned.
This guy was just stunned we think but Mom had to move him out of our yard. She was afraid she might forget about it and let us out. Bert is old and cranky, but we still hang out with him sometimes. He always wants to be with us.
We sure hope Bert continues to feel better!
That bird looks like a baby male cardinal…so cute!

It is a super cute bird. Normally we are not much into birds but this one made us sad. He left, though, so he must be alright.
I know he is a pain, but happy that Bert is feeling better. I sure hope that baby cardinal is okay. Mom caught me once with a baby birdie in my mouth. I was holding it very gently, but it was not alive. XOXO Sparkle
We have never caught a bird. Sometimes we do chase them. This guy left on his own power, so he must be alright. As for Bert, he is doing better and still wants to hang out with us.
I am so happy that Bert is doing better! He looks sooo good! Nice and alert and much younger than his years. Thank you for your kind words on my blog today (((hugs))). Also I echo, thank you for saving that little guy and I agree that he looks like a baby cardinal for sure!
The birdee is so adorable! No one ever believes us when we tell them how old he is, not even the vet. Mom says he will live forever. Who knows. He is a crabby old man cat, that much we do know.
I’m happy Bert is feeling better. He’s most handsome and I’m sure he knows that.
Aw on the bird. Mom did very well.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches all around and a hug to mom. β₯
Bert thinks he is a handsome dog, but not a cat. Oh well, we just humor him and hang out with him sometimes.
I’m glad Bert is feeling better. Hope that tummy heals fast! Yes, baby cardinal – surprised to see it this early at that stage of development. My first thought was adult female because of the mostly drab color and around here they are just starting to build nests – NOT feathered or flying.
We are not into birds, so we had no idea but he is super cute.
We are so happy to hear that Bert is doing better- and that bird is so pretty! have a great Friday!
He is better than he was. Hopefully that will continue when he is done with his meds.
We sure are glad to hear that Bert is acting like himself again. We hope his bell without furs will be okay. That was a good save on the bird, hooray for you Mom.
Mom was sad because the bird is so cute. We’ll see how Bert’s belly does when his pills are gone. Hopefully fur will come back.
Glad to hear cat bro Bert is acting more like himself! Hope the tummy skin calms down some more really fast and that those furs grow in too! Kudos to your mom for saving the baby bird! He looks like a baby male cardinal to me, too; but it does seem rather early for him to be out of the nest already.
That is a big baby bird, but it would explain why he flew into a window. Just learning about flying I guess. Bert will continue to heal we hope.
We send good thoughts that Bert continues to heal. And we are very glad that bird survived its encounter with your window!
I am glad Bert is doing better and hope his tummy improves too. I am glad the baby bird survived. He wouldn’t have stood a chance here as Eric and Flynn were out in the garden most of the time.
Mom would have forgotten and let us dogs out and that would have been really bad. She always takes anything injured outside our fence.
It’s good to hear Bert is better, i hope he fully recovers.
The bird does look like a cardinal.
We hope Bert gets better and stays better. Time will tell.
We are glad Bert is better, and that your Mom helped that cardinal survive his meeting with the window. You girls are good about not bothering either oneof them while they recuperate.
Well, we would have probably hurt the bird if he was not moved. We are not into birds but something alive sitting there would be interesting for us.
I am glad that Bert is feeling better – like a “cranky old man” again!
He is such a cranky old man, it is really tough to live with him.
Keep getting better Bert.
We hope that belly fur comes back. I guess we will wait and see.
Glad Bert seems to be improving-hopefully he’ll fully recover and new fur will grow in. That little bird is beyond adorable. Bless your mum for giving him a fighting chance to get over what was no doubt a big headache.
She felt really bad for the bird because he is so cute and she knew he had to relocate if he wanted to survive.
Glad Bert is feeling better
His furs are still MIA, but his cranky old, pestering self is definitely back.
We’re so glad Bert has shown those improvements, and we hope things clear up completely. β₯
We don’t know if the furs will come back or how long it will take. Hopefully they will come back.
