We spent most of our Easter weekend at the Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie, Wyoming. It is a really fun place to do some nose work! Olivia and I both had a chance at a big title and we actually achieved our goals!
The prison is an historic site which was built in 1872. It operated as a federal penitentiary from 1872 to 1890, and as a state prison from 1890 to 1901. It housed many famous criminals back in the day, and has been really well maintained. A stockade surrounds the prison where prisoners would report to work at the broom factory.
Olivia got to search the broom factory in her Elite trial on Friday. This photo is her waiting for her turn to search.
We both spent time in the prison yard area which is surrounded by the big wood fence to keep the prisoners from escaping. Despite the good fence, many did escape.
My last searches of the day on Saturday took place in the museum area. Here I am waiting for my turn to go in and search. They have pictures on the walls of some of the famous prisoners like Butch Cassidy.
They also have some really fun wagons like this one around the prison site.
Olivia competed in her second Elite level trial on Friday. Remember her first one was in Pennsylvania in March. She was awesome as always, but Mom was not on her game. Thankfully, Olivia is good enough to carry the team. She missed four hides, two of which were Mom’s fault. Even without those hides, she earned her Elite 1 Title. At this level the ribbons are so long, they drag on the ground.
Saturday I competed in my thirteenth NW3 Trial. Mom really wanted both of us to earn our titles but since I have tried so many times without success, she didn’t think it would happen. The first half of my searches Mom worked really hard as I was keeping hides a secret from her, something I love to do. We got a “no” in my second search. At this point I had to be perfect the rest of the day. Amazingly, the second half of my searches I was a new hound. Mom said searching became super fun, I told her about hides, and was all business. Yes, I finally earned my first NW3 Title.
It is safe to say, we escaped from the prison with our titles on Saturday afternoon. Mom is ecstatic that we both achieved our goals and we did it at the Wyoming Territorial Prison, a really fun site, and on a great road trip! Our traveling is coming to an end for a while, but we will be entering more trials and hopefully bring home even more pretty ribbons! We sure have a reason to be happy!
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
what a fabulous prison break… even with ribbons well done!!! the mama said that would be the right lace for us, but we have no idea why LOL
It was very fun to sniff around there. Olivia even got to go into prison cells.
Wow! What a great event for you both. Congratulations!! We loved your picture yesterday too! We took a short road trip compared to yours and still we were all wiped out all day Sunday. We even slept through our dinner time!! When we woke up we let mom know it and she gave us a late dinner! We are so impressed with your success in Wyoming. Hooray!! Have a great day. your friend Lilly
Mom is totally amazed we both did what we were there for. It makes for a much happier ride home, for sure! Hope you had a fun little trip.
Congratulations, girls and we are so happy that you made it home and didn’t have to stay in prison for long although it is a pretty impressive site!
We enjoyed visiting, but it didn’t look real comfy for staying longer than a few hours.
Oh how fun. I would love to see this in person. I spent 25 years working in this counties correctional facilities.
If you had been locked up there are many of us that would have come to your rescue. Not having you good pups locked up.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
It was super interesting. Olivia got to search in the old broom factory where the prisoners were sent to work every day. Finding unique places for searching is always fun. Good to know you would have saved us!
I am so happy and proud of both of you! All 3 of you road warriors work so hard and are relentless in your searches. PAWSOME! XOXO Sparkle
We work hard but we love our work, so it is a good thing. The pretty ribbons make it all better for Mom too.
What fun!!! Glad you escaped with your titles! Don’t trip over those ribbons!!!
They get longer as you get better!
What a pawsome place for sniffing! And those ribbons are way fancy and pretty! I (Zachary) know all about the stubborn game of BGV’s – both Petit and Grand – LOL.
Olivia searches her heart out no matter what, but I can be a challenge and it wears Mom out! We are thrilled we had success at that trial.
Well done ladies.
Thank you.
Wow Double Wow what a beautiful building to be a prison. The masonry work is just gorgeous. It was built to stay. No snow on the ground either. You had a very fun and successful visit. Congrats on your trails!! My husband has been watching lots of Wells Fargo reruns. I’ll be sure to show him these photos
Hugs Cecilia
No snow, but 40+ mph winds, so it was cold and it did snow Saturday night so we had iced over roads in the morning to start our drive home. Still it was a fabulous weekend for us all!
Wahoo!! Congrats to both of you(and your Mom)!! What a fun place for an event, so much fun historical stull…our Mama would love it!
xoxo,
Sunny, Rosy & Jakey
It was super fun for all of us at the prison. Mom loves to find special places for us to enter trials.
Congratulations girls!!
Thank you.
Great work, both of you!
We all did really well and achieved our goals.
WOW, congrats on those titles! That really does look like a fun road trip and I’m sure glad you won enough to get out on bail!
Nothing better than escaping prison with awards.
Congratulations! And that looks like a cool place, too!
It was super cool and fun to look around there.
Congrats to both of you and your mom on a great weekend!! I would love to visit a place like that! Glad you escaped with those pretty ribbons!!
It was super fun to see the place, get to do some sniffing, and both of us getting the titles we came for.
Glad you were released from prison with some well deserved titles. Way to go-congrats.
We’ll go to prison again if we can get out with new titles!
Congratulations! That looked like a fun place. Fun to visit, but not stay. π
It is fun to visit but we have no desire to stay in a prison.
