Today we are introducing our new pack member, Nelson! He comes from a music litter so his fancy pants name is Ethos Let’s Go Crazy, from a famous Prince song. He just came to live with us this week, so we are all adjusting.
Nelson was born on January 18th this year. He is one of the eleven puppies born to Sweedie and Crooner. Of course, he is from the same breeder the rest of us come from in Missouri, just different parents. We don’t know which one he is in this pile. The photo is from right after they were born.
Mom calls him a little lunker because he is solid and heavy. Right now he is a real mom’s boy but we see each day that he is feeling more comfortable here and he is doing more things without Mom being right there with him.
He enjoys the yard and thankfully we have had better weather this week. We all love to run and he tries to run with us, but he is not fast enough. Actually, he looks rather goofy when he runs.
Our new pack member seems to have some big paws as well. They are not as big as Olivia’s jumbo pillow paws, but they are big and soft. He enjoys showing them off when he struts around the yard.
Mom has started him on some sports already and he seems to enjoy that. His attention span is about zero, so practices are short and sweet. Nelson does tons of sniffing around the yard and the house on his own, so we think he will be a good sniffing hound.
We don’t have a family photo just yet as we are all adjusting and since Nelson won’t sit still, it is impossible. You know we will post more photos on social media and on the blog as we take them. Now we have to get back to learning to live with a boy for the first time!

We live close to the compound. Bailie was there after he passed away. It’s like half an hour from our house.

He is a mom’s boy at the moment, but with some time we will all figure out the new pack order and get along just fine.

He isn’t interested in felines which is fine with us. We are teaching him our rules and he is learning quickly.

Go right ahead! We are trying to stay away from him because he is a baby and kind of a pest. Mom says we are all going to be friends but we are not so sure. A boy hound is something new for us.

He is already a serious sniffer out in the yard, and he is learning fast in the house about things too. Today he is learning the sit command and we are all helping train him in return for treats.

It is very rare that more than one or two of us go to an event, so not really worried about it. Bailie doesn’t travel, so travel will be a max of three of us. Mom thought it over for a long time and she thinks it will all work out.
