We had some springtime fun and playtime recently. This past week there were a couple of gorgeous weather days with nice temperatures for getting outside and having loads of fun! Even our crazy little brother got more wild than we thought he could get! All of us got out in the yard and did a lot of racing and chasing and everyone has been sleeping really well.
Olivia and Nelson are bonding more and more which also means sometimes getting into some trouble. For the most part, they just have a great time together. Mom took this short video of them one evening in the backyard.
Mom no longer runs in the winter since she broke her ankle on the ice a few years ago. She started up running with us again this month. Bailie is her favorite dog to trust when it comes to running. We normally alternate running days with Bailie, then Olivia and me together. We can be a bit much sometimes, so Mom eases into things with us.
Since Mom’s heart attack she hasn’t run more than two and a half miles. She has actually really wanted to get back up to four miles but is a bit afraid. In previous years she would just go run four miles but now having only run two miles in any run adding distance has been slow going. This week the goal was to hit three miles with Bailie. Guess what? They hit three and a half miles and nothing bad happened. Mom says it feels so good to run further again, and they have four mile runs planned for the near future. Olivia and I will also ramp up to three miles right away. Once a runner, always a runner is what Mom says.
We love being outdoors, having fun, getting exercise, and staying fit, so we are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
We think your “title” is misleading today … it is ALWAYS fun-and-playtime here, even when the puppers are working hard, or in their trials! The hide-and-seek game with Olivia and Nelson was adorable to watch …
Those two pine trees have provided so much fun for all of the dogs in Mom’s life in this yard. We always play ring around the tree or hide and seek.
The video is fun watching. Reminds me of Puffin and me when she was younger. She would run and hide behind the sofa when we played just like Nelson hides under the tree! Congratulations on running. XOXO Sparkle
We often start in the house, but Mom tosses us out because we get too wild.
Oh our goodness! that is one great video! Baby boy has figured out how to use the evergreen trees!!! Well done Nelson. Tell your mom to keep taking care of herself! Have a great Friday — your friends Chester and Lilly
We all love the evergreen trees. They are the most fun things in our yard. Mom does keep taking care of herself. She’s doing well.
WHAT FUN!
It sure was fun!
Good for your mom for increasing her milage slowly. Take good care of her, girls! We LOVED your video!
She hates the slowly thing but she is afraid to not go slowly.
I know mom will do her exercise the right way. Hubby loves to run, but his knees won’t let him. He walks now.
It’s always good to see your precious pups. They make me smile.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your wonderful mom. β₯
Mom hopes she never has to stop running because she loves it so. We all enjoy running around the yard playing together.
i love the way Nelson hides in the trees, and comes around with a surprise attack. he is little enough now that he can just glide under the trees, hide and surprise attack. your girls and boy take care of your mom, i am glad that she is doing so much better. did she ask her dr abt her workouts and what she could do. she could also get a treadmill or elliptical to work out in the house, if the weather is bad.
Mom despises treadmills. In the winter we just walk more and that works. Rehab had her on treadmills and she could not wait for it to end.
Oh my…Nelson and Olivia are going to be a force to be reckoned with BOL!
We are so happy to hear your Mom is working to get back to where she was before the heart attack…we know she can do it!
xoxo,
Rosy,Jakey and Sunny
You guys have the perfect backyard for playing chase and wrestle and Gail and I are both hugely impressed by your mom’s running efforts.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
We are lucky to have a nice fenced yard to play in. Mom loves to run, so we are happy she is running again.
Wonderful pictures and video! Going slowly is the best way to improve.
Mom has never been a warm up and start slow type, so it is not easy for her.
that video was so cute! Kudos to Mom with her running but tell her to take it slow!!
She isn’t very good at doing things slowly but we try to keep her from doing too much.
That was a fun video and some fun yard romp n’ roll times! Hooray for Mom and Bailie hitting that goal, be cautious Mom!
We love to play in the yard, especially in the evenings for some reason. Mom is happy to be running more and will keep increasing her distance carefully.
It’s great to see Olivia and Nelson having so much fun, like when Coda visits Lulu.
Great job running further! It will just keep getting better, i know it.
We two youngsters really enjoy some good chasing and wrestle games!
We loved your video. You sure did have fun out there! Nice job on eclipsing that running goal, Mom and Bailie. π
We have been having more and more fun together and often get kicked out of the house and into the yard because we are too wild. Imagine that!
Looks like y’all had fun! Glad your momma got to run again.
We have lots of fun playing together. Mom loves running and has since she was little, so it is good she can go further now.
Wishing you many happy runs spent joyfully together.
Mom loves to run with us doggies.
We love to walk and it adds the ‘gravy’ to our day ~ Sweet photos of you handsome pups ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

We walk every day too, but Mom loves her running.
Aw, that video of Olivia and Nelson made me smile! They remind me of Ducky and Bogie. I wish Zen could have Ducky to play with and learn from…she was a much better teacher than I could ever hope to be. And she learned from a great teacher – Callie. You girls are doing a great job of teaching Nelson!!
Nelson does learn a lot from us and we help Mom teach him by example. It works out well. At least with just one pup, Zen gets all your attention.
