TNT will make this a very long holiday weekend. With the 4th of July on Monday, we will have at least four nights of fireworks to deal with. Every year it gets worse, and this year with so many cities not doing fireworks, even more people will be doing their own. Two of us are terrified of all the noise, Olivia, it just depends and Nelson seems fine with it all for now.
What don’t we like about fireworks?
- They are so loud and random.
- Some are so loud our house shakes.
- The smell from the stuff that makes them burn.
- Weird lights in the sky.
Why can’t we do something to not be scared?
- Knock out pills don’t work.
- CBD doesn’t help much at all.
- Turning on lights and loud music or TV doesn’t cover the noise.
- There is nowhere to go where we don’t have fireworks.
- We have tried everything we can think of but nothing comforts us, heck, even Mom gets scared with the loud booms.
What do we wish?
- People would be reasonable and only set off fireworks around dusk, not all weekend and until all hours of the night.
- Dog parents should keep their pets in the house so they don’t panic and run away from home.
- All dogs need to have proper ID, just in case they get spooked and take off.
- MomΒ wants lots of time to nap because with all the TNT being sold, we know there won’t be much sleep at night.
Have a safe 4th of July weekend, and make sure to take good care of your furry ones and also be considerate of your fellow humans.
We hate fireworks and wish they were never invented! Stay safe.
We do too. Mom says they used to be illegal here but when she moved back from Germany they were legal and it has been a nightmare every since.
we dislike this sudden starts of loud noises everywhere… from i*iots who buy there firework-crap and who have to try it immediately. to have one big firework at midnight for some minutes is more than enough…
If people would just use their fireworks for a few minutes a few times of the year, we would deal with it, but they have to keep going on and on and on and we know this weekend we will get no sleep.
I agree with you all. Luckily, my Alex sleeps through the fire works. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not have consideration for others. I do enjoy watching fire works when our township does it. I wish you all and your readers a great weekend and stay safe!!!
Great tips. Our Angel Little Bit hated fireworks. We did everything we could to make her safe and as comfortable as we could.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We did alright last night, but there were not too many.
I’m pretty good with the ruckus, but my sister is terrified. I guess the increase in prices has not bothered my neighbors since the fireworks began last night. Mom wished they would just ban them. She says she remembers a time when Florida did not sell them, and people had to go to South Carolina to buy them. We also are concerned about the birds, other animals, and Veterans suffering fro PTSD. Hang in there! Big hugs! XOXO Sparkle
Mom loved it when they used to be banned here too but now everyone has them and it is not nice for anyone.
Callie was really my only loud-noise anxious dog. Kissy never cared one way or another; Shadow would startle at the louder noises but settle down right away; Ducky would bark once or twice at the louder noises and then go back to whatever she’d been doing; Radar and Bogie never seemed affected by any noise – other than the doorbell – at all. I think we’ve had only one short-lived thunderstorm since Zen came to live with us and he slept through it.
When one gets scared the others start to get scared. It is a chain reaction around here.
We sure agree, it’s awful here too, a big show across the street at our Lake and then the yahoos all hours of the night for days. Our ferals will be so scared and we usually lose one or two this time of year as they run off. Good luck sweeties.
It is so sad for all the animals, pets, ferals, and wild animals. Stay safe you kitties.
A lot of towns around here aren’t doing fireworks this year, mostly because of the expense. I hope maybe that will slow down some of the people in your area. We haven’t had too much trouble here, but we’ve gotten a few new people in the neighborhood so who knows? We have no idea how the new pups are going to react either, I kind of dread finding out! Good luck to everyone with pets!
We never had an issue until we were 2 or 3 years old. The fact that towns are not doing fireworks makes it even worse because people now want to do their own. Good luck with your new furry family members!
I DO NOT LIKE THEM EITHER!!! Crazy people who like the loud pops!!
Take care and stay safe
Hugs Cecilia
Mom hates them too because she goes to bed early and they wake her up and keep her up half the night.
We are with you all about fireworks – hate them. And here in parched California, we are worried about fires from them. Not a fun weekend at all.
They are dangerous and unnecessary for so many reasons. They can’t be good for the environment either.
Fireworks! Mom says in our neighborhood they are illegal, but people use them to celebrate birthdays in additon to July 4th. I’m new in our house this year, so I’m not sure how bad it will be for me. Jimmy Parker
Hope they don’t bother you too much.
It’s illegal here but that does not stop them at all, which is sad.
That is a bummer. The one moron lights off ones just to be loud and they shake our house. Even Mom flies out of bed when they go off. Just ridiculous.
We are lucky, fireworks are illegal in our regional district unless done by a professional and most of the surrounding districts have passed those laws too so they are hard to get. Our village puts on a terrific fireworks display and most of the people in the surrounding towns come too. BUT we are close to the US border and only 5 miles from the closest town down there. Right now we can hear some fire works and they too will be letting them off tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday and Monday! Luckily they are far enough away that they are mostly like pops but Cinnamon will be hiding under the bed in the basement all four nights. We hope things go well for you and that you guys have a less noisy weekend. Purrs Marv
That used to be the case here, but then they realized a lot of money can be made selling the stuff, so it was legalized and we just hate it!
We hate the fireworks too but hope you guys survive all the craziness. Have you tried Thundershirts? Sometimes in conjunction with CBD and the Thundershirt, along with a high quality lavender essential oil. Good luck.
No, they don’t help. Even the knock out drugs don’t keep us down. We shake, drool, pace, try to hide, etc. It is just a mess.
