We had a successful weekend at the KCKC Scent Work Trial in Mankato. Olivia started of the fun with her searches Friday, then Nelson and I trialed the next two days. Bailie hung out at home with whoever wasn’t at the trial. Since Nelson just turned six months old, it is the first time he is old enough to compete himself. He spiffed up with his bow tie and got down to work like a pro! He was the youngest dog competing and still did great!
The trial was held at the Bridges Community School. Some things were inside, some were outside. It is a really nice location for a trial. The weather was hot every day, but we can stay pretty cool in the car with our fans and car covers.
Mom’s birthday was Friday and she did two Detective searches with Olivia that day. They both love these searches and the hope was to get a qualifying run in at least one of the searches. They missed a hide in the first search, but in the second one, they found all eight hides and qualified finishing in third place. Only three of nineteen dogs qualified which makes it even sweeter! Happy birthday to our Mom! Olivia now has six Q’s, ten are needed for a Detective Title.
I was along to do some simple searches with Mom to work on motivation. For me it didn’t matter if I qualified or not, it was to have fun and I did have a lot of fun. Someone also needs to keep an eye on our little brother which I did as well.
Nelson is the star of the weekend! He entered six searches each day Saturday and Sunday. His very first search was Novice Interior. Mom snapped this shot of him waiting to go in and search.
The only negative from the weekend is that Nelson has turned out to be a box smasher for fun. He only Q’d once in containers and that Q came with a fault for smashing the hot box. Mom will be working with him on containers intensely for a while. He will come around, it is just not as interesting for him right now as other searches like interiors and exteriors.
Saturday he qualified in four of his six searches earning a third place in Interiors and a first place in Exteriors. Sunday he also qualified in four runs earning a second place in Interiors and a third place in Exteriors. Earning three qualifying scores in Interiors, gives him his SIN Title, Scent Work Interior Novice. This is his first official title! Go Team Lime Green!
A bit later in the day, Sunday, he earned his third Exterior qualifying score and his SEN Title, Scent Work Exterior Novice. Look at all the ribbons our little brother earned on his first time out! Mom is super proud of him and they can’t wait to go sniffing together again! Nelson’s official name is now: Ethos Let’s Go Crazy SIN SEN The little fellow is pretty much wiped out after this weekend but his batteries will recharge and he will get used to trialing as time goes on. The KCKC Scent Work Trial was a good time for all of us, and we are happy with our successes as well.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Congratulations, Nelson! You look so handsome in your bowtie with your beautiful well-deserved ribbons!
Thank you. Mom is super proud of me. Now I have to work a lot on boxes.
Very good Nelson, congratulation ! Must have been nice for you to watch !
I did great and I was the youngest pup there too! Sniffing is fun.
oh wow you are such a fabulous pup! a future
champion we bet!!!
I want to be like my sister Olivia and Mom says I might be.
Nelson, you are a superstar! And ….. ya, smashing, pushing, walking all over boxes IS a thing! Good thing you are so cute.
Mom was not happy about it and when I got a Q with a fault, she said I will have to practice doing boxes nicely every day for the rest of my life I realized smashing might not be a good thing for me to do.
What a great weekend, and oh my dog, Nelson, you did fabulous! I’m quite tired today. My mom went to a sleep study last night. She was gone! I did not sleep well. XOXO Sparkle
When Mom is gone, we just doze and don’t sleep really well either. I slept all day yesterday as I was worn out from the weekend.
Well done Nelson for such a young pup
MAY I OFFER YOU ANOTHER AWARD…THE PUP WHO LOOKS ABSOLUTEY GAWGEOUS IN A BOW TIE
HUGS CECILIA
Thank you. Mom is super proud of how well I did and getting 2 of the 3 titles I tried for. The bow tie seems to attract humans, so I think I will wear it more often.
wow! Nelson ~ congrats ~ you are one special doggie ~ and love all the doggie photos ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thank you. I had a lot of fun and I guess I am pretty good at what I do too.
Way to go, Nelson. You’re a superstar already. Excellent. I’m glad you had such a great weekend and that your mom had a great birthday.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We were all worn out by the end of the day Sunday, but it was a lot of fun!
Wow! What does it mean to be a box smasher? just what it sounds like? Oh dear Baby boy will have to practice not being one. Sounds like a super successful weekend!! Your friends Chester and Lilly
We girls are always very gentle in our sniffing sports, but Nelson is a boy and can be a bit wild with boxes. He jumps on them and smashes them. That is not allowed and so Mom is working with him to get him to stop doing that. We have to stop it before it gets to be his habit.
Sounds like everyone did great!!
We are looking forward to watching Nelson grow into a champion sniffer like his sisters!
xoxo,
Sunny
Mom thinks he will be more like Olivia with sniffing and that is a good thing.
all i can say is WOW! what a fabulous start to a career. you might just become the youngest in your breed, beating Olivia. i loved that you were smashing boxes, so cute, but you will learn. Maybe your nickname should be Smashing Pumpkins? great wkend for all and a wonderful birthday present for your mom.
Mom was quite shocked when he started to destroy boxes. She has seen dogs do that, but never her dogs and it is not a good thing. They are working on not doing it already. Otherwise, it was a great weekend for Nelson and Olivia
Well done, Nelson!!!! Team lime green is off to a fabulous start in their career!!! So happy for you girls, your mom, and your little brother who is getting bigger all the time.
Little brother is growing like a weed for sure!
Congratulations to all of you! What a fun weekend. Nelson, you look so dapper in your bow tie!
Nelson was happy to finally get to do something besides sitting in the car, and he did so well too.
Congratulations! You are all so special, it’s great to watch your achievements.
We are scent hounds so Mom likes us to do our sniffing sports since we were born to do them!
Y’all had such a fun and amazing weekend, congrats! Oh, and WOW Nelson, you sure did amazing, we think you’re a star in the making!
Nelson had a lot of fun and did a great job of sniffing.
Such cute dogs! I love that they are so award-winning.
We all work hard at our sports and enjoy doing them. It is most fun when you are successful too.
Way to go, Nelson! π
He loves doing his sniffing!
