If you are five, it is time to drive if you are are French Scent Hound named Madison. In my year being five, I traveled to thirteen new states which is crazy! Before I was five, I had only been to nine states. I must say, I had a blast riding around the country in our car, exploring new places and doing some sports too.
We did some of our usual travels in the five state areas and the end of August we ended up in Nebraska for the first time. For something fun, we over the bridge that crosses the river and is partly in Iowa, partly in Nebraska. They call it Bob.
Over the course of the year, we also did a lot of our usual five state area travel but in September we busted out of our bubble and headed east, in December, south, and in April west! We have been looking for fun murals along our routes. On our trip going east, we added Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York to our new states traveled list. Ohio had some fun murals for photos like this one in Cleveland.
We traveled south to Florida for FastCAT Nationals. This was a really big road trip and we saw so many new places! Nashville has a fun mural on a coffee shop. For new states on this trip we added Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
Atlanta had the Olympics a while back. Since we are sports dogs and we were on a sports trip, finding the Olympic rings is kind of a must for us. Sadly it was raining so we took a quick shot and then kept on going.
We made it to Florida! Disney World is not dog friendly, but we still needed to stop by and see something of it. We found out it was also the fifty year anniversary.
On the way home we stopped in Birmingham for this mural. Other than the mural, it was kind of a depressing place.
We found Memphis in large letters. It was a nice park where we got to get out and really stretch our legs after a long day of driving.
Our third and last big road trip came in April when we traveled to Wyoming. On this trip we added Wyoming, and Colorado. We found this mural as we exited the Black Hills in Custer. The Black Hills sure are beautiful and so fun when you have the place all to yourself because of the time of year.
The highlight of my being five and finding it the ideal time to drive was my title at the prison in Larmamie, Wyoming. I sure hope I get to travel a lot when I’m six. Time will tell. Getting outside and seeing nature in other places is sure a lot of fun.
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard is for their Nature Friday blog hop.
You are a lucky girl, Madison, and you’re certainly more traveled than I am or will ever be!
Mom loves to do road trips with us.
You are the champion traveler. So many places and so many good memories and pictures. I flew over a bunch of states, but I have only been to Minnesota, Florida, and Georgia. Happy Birthday Week! XOXO Sparkle
We are not really the norm, but Mom enjoys road tripping with us and we love to go along.
Wow Madison, you are my role model for living an adventurous life. How I would love to see all those places (although perhaps not Birmingham!)
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
Birmingham was a bit of a dud, but most of the places we go are fun and interesting.
My goodness, Madison, you’ve seen more of this country than many of its human citizens – me included – ever have or will! Such an accomplished little traveler!
Mom has traveled the world her entire life, including the US. Now she finds it fun to just drive with us and see places.
Iβm impressed! I havenβt been to most of the states and I have traveled quite a bit so youβre ahead of the game
Mom wants us to see as many of the 48 as we can. Alaska is pretty much out and so is Hawaii.
I love that you get to travel. Your mom rocks.

Hugs Cecilia
We kind of have one. She is our navigator and she comes along on the longer trips so Mom doesn’t get lost.
Darlin,’ I absolutely adore your pink sunglasses with the bow! Quite the thing for cruising the USA!!!
Thank you. I enjoy being fashionable.
What a fun, and probably exhausting, year! Hopefully this coming year you will add a few more states to your record.
I don’t think we will add thirteen again, but hopefully four or five. We shall see.
I always love reading about your travels…and I’m hoping 5 is the year I get to drive too!
xoxo,
Rosy
