It’s just me and the cat this weekend. My sisters and brother are on a sniffing road trip. Well, Nelson is just along for the ride, but Olivia has a trial and Bailie also got into a trial, so she is traveling for the first time in a long time. I’ll enjoy getting spoiled as the only dog for a few days. Mom was going to leave Nelson home but decided I’d probably like a break from him. He can be a pest.
Cat bro Bert is pesty enough. He is staying out all night several nights a week – his choice. Night is when he hunts. The other night he wanted to come back in but had a live mouse in his mouth. No, we did not let him in.
He does go out during the daytime now and then, but pretty briefly these days. Most of the day he is sound asleep since he hunts all night.
Bert loves a comfy spot for his daytime snoozing but he also loves the heat of a sun puddle. The one in our office is a favorite.
Now and then he gets up and takes a stroll through the yard before returning to his napping. He looks funny on the dry patch of grass we have by the famous pine trees.
Mom says when Bert and Sophie first came to live here, they both spent a ton of time in the cat trees around the house. The last few years we rarely see them there. Now with the sun angles, Bert is found there in the mornings once and a while.
This afternoon photo of Bert is funny because you can see he is rather tired. His eyes are droopy. The past couple months, since he has been an indoor/outdoor cat, he has really aged. If you look at that post from two months ago, you can tell he is now looking his age of about sixteen.
Mom loves taking photos of him in the evening light. We also have noticed he is crossing his paws/legs more and more when he walks. Maybe he is dipping into some neighborhood moonshine we don’t know about?
Bert can also walk with serious purpose, ears back, go! We found a big patch of gray feathers under one of our trees. Our best guess is that he caught a bird. It seems like sometimes he eats what he catches and other times he leaves it for Mom to take care of. At least he is a hunter like the rest of us!
Enough about Bert. It may be me and the cat for the weekend, but I think it will be more me and no cat if I can work that option out! Enjoy your weekend! Remember you can follow us on Facebook and maybe figure out where in the world my siblings are going.
We are joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop held by Comedy Plus.
Bert truly is a very handsome kitty. Have a great time while your mom and sisters are off, Madison!
Enjoy your alone time
I’m making the most of it.
Take care of brother Bert. He is such a sweet kitty to tolerate a hound household! I worry about him being a semi outdoor kitty. XOXO Sparkle β¨οΈ
Well, he has always wanted to be outside and he sticks around the house. He is old and still doing well.
Happy travels to Mom, da Girls and Nelson. Looks like Nelson will have his paws full with 3 females
You and Bert can ‘bond’ BOL BOL as much as one can bond with a feline. We all know they have their own rules that change at the drop of a hat
Hugs Cecilia
I’m not a big fan of the cat. He is cranky and causes a lot of trouble. Nelson will have fun and enjoy his trip, I’m sure of it!
we hope you two will have a good weekend and we wish your sisters a lot of success and fun for nelson…
From what we hear, they are all having a pretty fun time so far.
Bert is most handsome and it’s always nice to see him. Yes they roam the house all night long. It’s the way of cats.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
He really should sleep at night so he is on the same schedule as the rest of us!
Bert remains a handsome fellow at sweet sixteen (gorgeous photos) and it’s good that he is so active and has
a loving companion as well.
Everyone has always loved that cat. Mom and him have never gotten along very well, but adoption is for life, so she does the best she can for him to had a good life.
Cats are truly a very different species! Hoping you, Madison, have a restful weekend.
They sure are!
Good for Bert being a mighty hunter in his older age! We were surprised to not see you in the travel photo on Facebook, so had to come see what you were up to! We hope you enjoy your quiet weekend, Madison. β₯
I’m letting my sitter spoil me and I am enjoying some quiet time.
How fun! It is nice to be only dog once in a while. Love the photos of you and Bert together, and yes, I’d have droopy eyes too if I hunted all night
He is exhausted all day!
We bet you and Bert have a nice relaxing weekend, enjoy!!
xoxo,
Rosy
He is doing his thing and I am doing my thing. That works best for us.
Have a good weekend with your cat bro Bert. It is nice to see he comes in to sleep in sun puddles.
He loves a good sun puddle.
It looks like you two are taking good care of each other and I hope you both have a calm and restful weekend!
Cats like to hunt for themselves and for their people. They know we don’t jump or chase after things very fast or have claws and big, sharp teeth so they hunt to be nice and provide for us.
Maybe he’s noticed you dogs don’t actually catch much prey, either, and he’s just trying to share.
He brought our pet sitter a dead mouse this morning. She wasn’t impressed. Bert has always enjoyed hunting and sometimes eating his catch.
Bert has been getting into trouble, but I’m being a good girl and having fun.
When I was going to college one of the neighbors had a cat in our apartment complex. It would go hunting in fields across the road and seemed to think that I would enjoy waking up to a dead mouse at my front door. I don’t know why I was worthy of the prize from the previous evening hunt but I was not fond of cleaning up the remains.
Yes, I’m sure baby brother Nelson can be a bit of a problem child for his sisters, but he is a handsome young man. Have a blessed week.
Cat bro Bert brought the pet sitter a dead mouse this morning. She was not impressed, LOL! We all love Nelson but he is a puppy and sometimes pushes our buttons.
