A Montana road trip means finding the odd things along the way where we can take photos. We did pretty well finding weird stuff and we had fun with it. Salem Sue is one of the oddest, but we posted about her last week. This adorable giant otter is in Fergus Falls, MN. Madison and Olivia have seen it before, but it is new for me and Nelson.
In Minnesota, we also found the jumbo Prairie Chicken. Who knew chickens could be so large?
Moving along, heading west Nelson found a buffalo. He says he has always wanted to see a buffalo. It is not real, but it made him happy.
How about an artistic buffalo? We found one of those too.
In one smaller town we found a triceratops. It is really an ugly thing, so we sent Nelson out to pose with it. He is not afraid and doesn’t mind posing too much.
Do you remember the movie Fargo? Mom saw it when it first came out, but she doesn’t remember much about it. Anyway, we stumbled across the wood chipper from the movie actually in Fargo. Outside, the one we took a photo with is a replica. The real one is in the building where dogs can’t go.

It wouldn’t be a Montana road trip without a Sinclair Dinosaur. Sinclair gas stations are big out there! This little fellow is just right for Nelson.
Our Montana trip is also the first hotel trip for our little brother. Mom says it is time he learns to stay in a hotel, thus he came along with us for the ride. His first hotel was a La Quinta with a glowing green sign for the lime boy.
He is happy to find out hotel rooms have a TV for him to watch in case he gets bored.
Olivia showed Nelson about the fun of watching traffic out the window.
My favorite thing in a hotel is the bed, so I got Nelson on the bed to relax with me for a while. The little guy did better every night and he will be a good traveler!

Those are huge beasts that you are posing with and you don’t even look the least bit worried and the hotel room looks so plush and fun!
We are all used to weird large things, so we are not scared. The hotel was pretty nice, the next one wasn’t as nice.
Those are some strange things to find, and great photo opportunities. Oh Nelson – the places you will go!

Everything is Bigger OUT WEST!!! So glad you found some treasures to pose with. Looks like Nelson is becoming a real roadie! Good for him. We like the artistic buffalo the most, but the Sinclair dinosaur is a treasure. Mom says she had one when she was about 10 – it was an inflatable for the swimmimg pool!
Nelson is an awesome traveler. He rides well in the car, is quiet and polite in the hotels. Not bad for a puppy.
You do find the “funnest” things for photo ops! Happiness is having a little brother that is a great traveler. XOXO Sparkle
