Today we have the final odds and ends from our Montana road trip. Not all the things we see fit in their own post, so we put those all here for you today. This is a shot of me and Nelson at Bozeman Pass. We drove through here on the way to and from our nose work trials Saturday and Sunday. It is a beautiful place. Mom said even if our trial goes bad, the pretty drive makes it worthwhile.
I had me Elite Trial on Saturday at the fairgrounds and Bailie had her NW3 Trial on Sunday. My trial day was one hundred degrees out, but we survived.
The view of the mountains from the parking lot was gorgeous on Saturday. On Sunday the mountains disappeared in the smoke from all the forest fires.
My trial was fine, but it didn’t end up as good as we thought it would. Some new things happened that we didn’t know until everything was finished. I still earned a nice amount of points towards my next title and I earned a third place in my first search of the day.
Bailie’s day was typical Bailie. She did not feel like searching and it was a long tough day for her and Mom. Still, she enjoyed meeting all the people and getting lots of attention. There is a reason, actually more than one, that Bailie doesn’t travel for trials anymore. This photo was taken while she was waiting to do her exterior search.
Nelson went to the trial with Bailie. Mom took him for lots of little walks in between Bailie’s searches. They found these concrete barriers and thought they would make a funny photo. I got to stay at the hotel and rest with our navigator.
On the way out of town, they stopped by the big mural. I was not along on Sunday, but Nelson was. Because the mural is super long and on a busy street, Mom left Bailie and crossed the street to take the three photos. She doesn’t trust Nelson to stay put like Bailie will, so only Bailie is in the photo. Three photos are necessary to capture the full length.
The buffalo is on the left of the Bozeman part.
A grizzly bear is to the right of the Bozeman part.
Mom says this photo of me is rather funny. I definitely was not ready to get up for the day, but it was time. The explosion behind me is kind of humorous too.
Leaving Wyoming on the way home from Montana, Mom and our navigator stopped for some white water rafting. Thankfully, they had a photo taken so we could see what they had been up to. Next time we want to go along!
Our final photo stop was in Sturgis, the place where the motorcycles all meet up at the famous Motorcycle Rally. Since the event is in August, it is safe to stop. When it is going on the place is crazy! At this point, we were all pretty tired and it was almost one hundred degrees again. Nelson let his true feelings show! Hope you enjoyed our last odds and ends!
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Fun times! I could not believe how beautiful the mountains were and the next day you could not see them. I bet the air was bad quality too and affected everybody’s noses! Happy tails to you! XOXO Sparkle
It kind of smelled like an old campfire, but we dogs can sort our the smells, so it didn’t bother us much.
What fun pictures…especially those last two!
Thank you. We like variety and goofy stuff too.
oh what a fabulous adventure… maybe you can go to that whitewater ship next week for da pirates day?
That would be great, but it is a very long drive to get back there.
Sounds like a great trip
We had a really good time.
How fun. I love Montana. You sure know how to have fun with your precious pups.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to mom. β₯
Mom says life is short so one needs to take it all in when one can. She wants us to see as much of the world as we can and have fun doing it.
Great photos! What a great trip — complete with a rafting trip!! You all have been in a lot of awesome spots in our country! We can’t believe you went to Sturgis!! We heard about it a lot when we lived out west. Sounds like you had a good time on this trip. And it certainly was pretty. your friends Lilly and Chester
The west is beautiful, a different look from going east or south. It is a lot of fun seeing and smelling all the new places.
what an adventure! Wild ending!!! Does the altitude affect your breathing/searching?
Altitude can effect the way odor travels but it also depends on how the dog sniffs. This elevation wasn’t so high, but in Laramie, WY some dogs had difficulties. Olivia is an air scenter, so she has better luck in higher elevations.
Montana is a lovely place to visit and have fun! Especially river rafting!
We had a good time even though it was a short trip.
What a fun road trip, looks like you all had a great time!
It was fast and furious but we packed in a lot of things.
That mural is really something special, Bailie, and we love the volcano behind you as you’re waking up to start your day, Olivia! Your mom looks like she’s having a blast in that raft!
We all had a fun trip except for Bailie who hated the car portion. The raft was a fun find for photos.
I know nothing, but am wondering if the fire smoke affected the dogs’ smelling that day. I totally loved the pic in bed!
Thank you. Mom just took my waking up photo and later realized there was an eruption behind me which looked really cool. Smoke could effect sniffing but it wasn’t enough to make a difference at our trials that weekend. A nose work instructor once explained how we find odor like this: If you go into a flower shop looking for roses, at first you smell all the flowers but then your brain and nose narrows down the smell to just the roses. It is like that for us looking for specific odors. Mom loves that analogy.
WOW, it sure looks like you all had lots of fun and saw so many interesting places!
It was a fast and furious trip, but we packed in a ton of fun stuff to see and do.
You had a wonderfully fun time stopping at all those places and it shows.
We love seeing fun things and getting out regularly to stretch and do photos makes the long rides easier.
love the picture of of your mom and her friend rafting. maybe all of you did not do as well as expected but you had fun and got to see some beautiful places.
We have no trip regrets and we can’t be at our best every day!
Now I understand why they call it the Big Sky state!
It is a beautiful place with all the big sky!
Great photos, and congrats doggies on your accomplishments. The mountains are beautiful, and I love that mural!
It was a fun and fast trip. We all had a good time.
