Welcome cold weather and warm sunshine! Yesterday morning the grass was all white, covered in frost. It was in the upper twenties and the cold gives us hounds a serious energy boost! After lots of wild play in the yard, it feels good to come in the house and sit in some sunshine. Mom had to turn the heat on for a couple hours because it was too cold inside for her.
Cat bro Bert is not going outside much the past few days since it has turned cold. He is also giving up his all night outside hunting trips. No more overnight hunting for the old man cat. He is not a fan of the cold like we dogs are. Bert is usually seen stealing our dog beds to relax in the sun puddles during the day.
Bailie has her big donut bed she loves, but with the colder weather she moves over one bed to sleep in the sunshine. I guess everyone loves to be warm after walking and running in the cold air.
Madison, aka, Gladys Kravitz is thankful her neighborhood spy bed is in the sunshine most of the day. She enjoys sitting there keeping watch and often falls asleep on the job.
I am not big on too much sunshine, but I am able to get enough from the wicker kennel bed. This is my favorite napping spot and the sun stops by to kiss me in the face now and then. Nelson and I are playing chase and wrestle around two hours a day in the cold weather. Both of us get pretty worn out from all the exercise.
Nelson is the odd duck. He is the only boy, and he rarely lays in the sun or on a bed. The guy prefers hard floors for some reason. I think he is napping by the door to make sure I don’t slip out without him! By the way, all the mess on the glass behind him is his doing. He insists on pawing at the door to come in and it makes quite the mess.
We are thankful summer is gone and we have sunshine to nap in!

It’s that time of the year agaiin!
We are happy for the cold weather, but the sunshine feels good too.
Wow – high 20’s is cold! I love the warm blankies and beds and sun puddles this time of the year too.
Caution! Cozy times are just ahead! We love this cold weather.
Brrrr. That’s cold! Bert looks so mild and sweet in that picture, but we know how deceptive those cats are. We do agree that cooler weather is invigorating to play in.
Nelson and Olivia are totally wiped out and go to bed on their own quite early from all the wild play.
Cold weather sounds great! I am like Madison, being the neighborhood busy body. I love my window bench. We survived Ian! Did not lose power, but we do have a very messy yard. XOXO Sparkle
Glad you guys are alright. Mom is glad we no longer have a house in Fort Myers as she didn’t want to go there much anyway, but right now it would probably be a real mess. Hopefully it can all get cleaned up and back to normal quickly in the worst areas.
I keep an app on my phone for weather in northern Indiana where I have family, so had seen the cold weather coming in there last night. Most pups do love romping out in that fresh crisp air and certainly yours proved that! But the sunshine-naps after are always the best thing.
None of us, including Mom like summer. Cool or cold is much more out thing but we also love the cozy aspects of the cooler weather.
We’ve not turned on the heater yet, but it’s chilly in the mornings.
I sure enjoy seeing all of you. It’s nice to hear about your preferences when it’s cold.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my very best to your wonderful mom. β₯
Mom turned on the heat yesterday for a couple hours. It was only 61 in the house with highs of upper 50’s so she knew the house would not warm up and since it was in the twenties, she was cold too.
wow you won the white grass challenge, we only had white cars…. but that’s the second place, is it ? :O)))
We got the bundle deal, white grass and white cars, LOL! A real life two for one.
I want to live in your house and watch their habits for a week.
We are definitely creatures of habit and we love our routines.
So happy to read that Bert prefers the warmth of home to cold outside hunting trips!! Good boy Bert!!
He still goes out for a while during the day, but he wants to be in at night.
You are all cuties. I am glad Bert is staying inside where it is warm and safe.
He never leaves our yard when he is out, but there isn’t really any good sleeping spots outside if it is cold.
This is really the first place we’ve lived where there is a fall….we are loving the cooler mornings and nights too!
Will you guys get snow too? The cool air is so very nice.
WOW!!! Keep the white stuff up north!!! I still have watermellons on the vine! We’ve had 50’s at night and use our electric fireplace for a bit in the mornings .
We will gladly keep cold and snow at our house.
We have colder nights but the days are still warm. The cats are in before bed time, they too have given up on the all night hunts and Cinnamon likes laying on her bed but NOT in the sunshine! We love how you guys all sleep differently! Keep being awesome! Marv
As Mom always says, we are all the same but very different. It makes no sense but she says it does.
I agree with Bert: no more outside till it’s better. Like in May. When my cats went outside, they used to want me to open the door for them each day, as if winter had mysteriously disappeared. But when they saw it still was there, they were still hopeful that it had left the other side of the house, so we would have to check at another door. They are so silly!
LOL! Our cat only goes in and out one door, so he never thought to check the weather on the other side of the house.
That’s plenty cold already and it sure looks like everyone has a good plan going to enjoy the warm indoors! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It has been a chilly week, but we are ready for it.
Housecats are descended from African desert cats, so it makes sense they love warmth and don’t do as well with cold. A very different heritage from you wonderful hounds.
Enjoy the cool, sunny days!
This is awesome weather. Bert is not only a cat, but an old man cat, so the cold is really not something he is a fan of.
20’s?? Yikes…I’m all in favor of cooler temps but not quite ready for 20’s just yet.
It was quite frosty that morning, but then it warmed up and now is only in the low 40’s in the mornings. We don’t mind the cold at all.
