Hey, I may have found the Great Pumpkin! On the weekend, Olivia read me a book about the Peanuts and how they were looking for this Great Pumpkin. I really wanted to find one of my own for the upcoming Halloween night. It is my first Halloween, so it should be perfect.
When Mom and I went shopping I saw the most beautiful, big pumpkin! I had to stop and have a closer look to see if it could really be the pumpkin Olivia read to me about. Hmmm…I am trying to size it up. It is definitely bigger than all the other pumpkins, and it sure is nice and shiny!
Oh my dog! I am certain that this big beauty is the Great Pumpkin. Boy does it make me happy to have found it, and so easily too! This is just my first time even going out to look for it. Look at my happy face staring at this beauty!
What? My mean mom says “no”, we are not going to buy that big pumpkin. She told me it would be a waste of money since we would just get rid of it in a couple of weeks. “Please…” I begged with her. “No”, it is not the pumpkin Charlie Brown was looking for, and it is not the right pumpkin for you either she told me. Even my sad puppy eyes could not cut through that “no” word. I guess I will settle for a small pumpkin instead, but this big one would really have been great! I’m thankful at least I believe I found the Great Pumpkin!

We absolutely love that picture of Olivia reading the book to you, Nelson! Those big pumpkins can be really heavy and if you leave it outside, the squirrels will be most appreciative!
We only would give it to get the squirrels into our yard so we could chase them. Mom would not get the big pumpkin, so I am out of luck there.
oh boy oh boy you really found that big pumpkin…. da Phenny said that pumpkin looks different fur efurrybuddy, it has not even to be big to become the big one for one of us… no idea what it means, I want the biggest one, that’s for sure…
I wanted the biggest one too, but Mom said no. Bummer.
Nelson well at least we all know you have excellent pumpkin shopping skills. It is gorgeous and shiny too
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you. Too bad we couldn’t bring it home with us.
Nelson, are you a big enough boy to carry that giant pumpkin? Didn’t think so. Some things we have to enjoy without taking them home! XOXO Sparkle
Mom says I’m a huge heavy weight, but I don’t know how to carry a pumpkin, so we had to leave it at the store.
So precious. I see you’re doing your part in your wonderful family. Mom should have let you have the great pumpkin though.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
She said it was way too big for us. I don’t agree, but what is a pup to do?
That is a big ‘un fur sure … we saw a 2000+ pounder in the news today, but it was “white not orange” and not nearly as pretty or shiny … so yours qualifies as the biggest and best we think!
I saw on the news that a pumpkin from Anoka which is right by where Mom buys our raw food broke a largest pumpkin record at 2650 pounds. Now that is really too big!
you know what Nelson? I DO think you found The Great Pumpkin!!!!
I think so too. I may need to take my sisters to the store to verify, but someone else may have taken it home by now.
To big. All the squirrels would eat it and drive you craz.
Oh, they already make me totally nuts!
That sure is a big pumpkin! That would make a whole lot of pumpkin pies!
I don’t know how to make pies, but maybe we could make a lot of cookies?
That really was some pretty pumpkin and you did good sniffing it out. I agree with you though, you should have adopted it. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It would have been fun to have on our front porch but Mom didn’t want such a big pumpkin.
No??? Oh, I’m so sorry, Nelson. I could never have withstood those eyes. You did your best. But hey! Little pumpkins make the best pies! Tell Mom that!
My sisters told me Mom never gets the really big pumpkins, so I guess I have to deal with that.
Even if it’s not The great pumpkin, you did find A great pumpkin. You’ll find a decorative pumpkin at your house doesn’t have to be that large to be enjoyed.
Mom says they just get tossed away after a couple weeks, so she doesn’t want a really big one. Oh well, I fell in love and had to leave it behind.
think of all the doggie treats your mom could make with that pulp! It freezes very well for over a year even!!! Pumpkin is high in stuff we dogs need, like probiotics and a bunch of other stuff. My mom was reading a dog thing about how nutritious pumpkin is for dogs. My sister, Olive, and I have asked for pumpkin on our food at times, too!
your friend,
Jimmy Parker (the GBGV that almost was your dad)
We do get pumpkin in our food too but Mom doesn’t want to deal with the mess of getting it from a pumpkin. She prefers to buy it ready to serve, just the plain pumpkin.
Oh Nelson, that was so mean of your mom. You should have asked if you could use your allowance. That was the Great pumpkin for you! After all, your mom could plant the seeds, and cook the inside. I did this year. Pumpkin is good for you and your sisters. That was so sweet of Madison to read the story and even dress up. I think you should walk down to the store and charge it to your mom’s account. I am sure someone would deliver it for you.
Mom says she doesn’t want such a big pumpkin. She also doesn’t want to deal with making pumpkin as it is messy and a lot of work, so we will just have to make due without the Great Pumpkin this year.
That sure looks like the Great Pumpkin. Don’t you just hate when Mamas say no….?
xoxo,
Sunny
It is the worst word humans have. I hear it a lot and it really spoils the fun. Hope you are feeling a bit better after your surgery.
