Madison, Olivia, and I took a long weekend road trip to Michigan. It is customary for each of us to stop as this smarty pants, pink elephant in Wisconsin the first time we pass by. Being my turn, I donned my bow tie and glasses to also look smart. I guess it is kind of a family right of passage.
We took a quick break at some new exit and found this giant farmer. Being the smallest, it is only logical to have Madison pose with the guy. She doesn’t even clear his shoes! He is holding a sausage and cheese, foods Wisconsin is known for.
This is my first road trip going east. Illinois is a new state for me. We stopped at the Welcome Center to take my photo with the sign to prove I set paw in the state.
Next we hit Indiana, after a lot of traffic around Chicago. Indiana is also a new state for me to add to my list. Their sign is really ugly outside. It was later in the day, so Mom asked the guy in the Welcome Center nicely if she could bring her puppy inside for a quick photo with the pretty sign and he said yes. We got lucky there!
The drive started to get long around dinnertime. Olivia is always up for more, but I was bored to death. Mom says my attention span isn’t as long as my siblings because I am a puppy. I did sleep a lot on the way because there is nothing else to do.
Finally we arrived in Michigan, another new state for me. I get three new states on this trip, bringing my total to eleven. I’m really young, but creeping up on my sisters. Bailie has twenty four, Madison, twenty two, Olivia, twenty three. Road trips are super fun, except for Bailie who hates the car. You can always stay up to date on our states on our The Staff Page.
I guess Michigan is known for their lighthouses. They even have this cute one at their Welcome Center, so I am posing with it. Now I look small like Madison, LOL!
For those of you interested in lighthouses, you may want to travel to Michigan. We like the info on this sign. Now the question is, where will we travel next?

You guys are amazing getting to travel to so many different states and we love that you and the pink elephant both look SuperSmart, Nelson!
Mom calls me a smarty pants so I must be pretty smart π Road trips are fun, but getting home is great too.
oooh we would love to see this farmer… maybe if we use a ladder we can get the sausage and the cheese?
You will need a really tall ladder!
Wow so big animals you have for company
Great job of narrating this trip, Nelson. YOU look so dapper in your bow tie and gasses!
Thank you. Mom says I look really nice all spiffed up.
Oh, Nelson, you are so adorable and a USA traveler. Long, long before my time there used to be Pinky the elephant π in Cocoa Beach according to my mom. Have a wonderful week. XOXO Sparkle β¨οΈ
From what we read about her at the site, there were a bunch of them made up to draw attention to various businesses. Mom loves to stop and visit when she drives by.
You’re getting around very well, Nelson. You’re most handsome and I love it that you let us travel with you. Make sure you thank mom for that.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your wonderful mom. β₯
Traveling is fun, but sometimes it can be a bit boring when I don’t get to do much for a few days.
You guys certainly get around. Keep going east to new York
We were hoping to go to Maryland in December but we didn’t get a spot in those trials π
You are a “travelin’ man”. Maybe you need to learn some games to play in the car. Mom could let you use her cell phone to play games and call Bailie and Grammy.
I pester Olivia sometimes, or I just stare at Mom so she knows I’m bored, but most of the time I sleep in the car and then we stop to have fun.
Yes, long drives can be boring. And then you get to see and sniff (and pee) in all sorts of new places.
All the new smells are a lot of fun, but Mom doesn’t let me pee on a lot of things. She is kind of fussy about that stuff.
WOW! That is a lot of states in one trip!! We always love the fun photo fodder you find, and you know Mama loves that lighthouse!!
xoxo,
Sunny and Rosy
Your Mom was in our mind when we saw that lighthouse and the info on Michigan and lighthouses.
Where were you in Michigan? Don’t dare tell me you were in the Detroit area or you will be in BIG trouble if you were here and didn’t let me know!!!!
Yes, we were in Canton at the hotel and Ypsilanti at the Firehouse Museum for Olivia’s nose work trial. We just didn’t have time to do much else. Some day maybe we will be there longer and have time to do some other things.
Some of your photos made me laugh- such HUGE statues next to your pup!
That was one of the bigger ones we have ever found π
You sure did get to see lots of fun, interesting and really big things!
It was a day for tall things, I guess.
Even though some (!) may have found the trip boring, it had wonderful memories that you’ll have forever!
We are all ready to get back in the car as soon as we get home, but some parts of travel are fairly boring.
OMG! Look at the gian pink elephant and the GIANT Farmer! What a great stop to see the sites! We are hoping the weather guessers are as wrong about how long the cold front lasts as they were NOT prediciting the snow! Right now they are telling us the cold will last for at least 3 weeks! Brrr! Keep on being awesome! Purrs Marv
The cold is coming here now and we are happy about it. Hopefully we will find some snow soon in our area in the near future.
What fun! You’re doing great for a pup on racking up the travel miles and states.
Mom says we probably won’t be traveling as much next year, more local stuff, but we will see.
Looks like a fun trip. We love pink elephants!

Pink elephants are always fun to find π
