Last weekend we were at the Michigan Firehouse Museum in Ypsilanti, Michigan for another Elite Nose Work Trial for me. Finding trials that search fun places is not always easy, so when I got into this one, I could not pass it up.
I was a bit tired the morning of my trial, but I will do almost anything for nose work, so I managed to get up and head on over to the museum. It’s funny how we sleep a lot in the car on a road trip, but we are still tired when we arrive.
One thing about nose work trials is that we are all pretty well behaved and when we finish a trial, the site is usually even more clean than when we arrived. For this trial we got to be in the museum and search all kinds of old trucks and equipment.
For all our searches we waited outside for our turn. This is a shot of me in front of the garage doors.
Inside we could see all kinds of fun old stuff. Most of it we didn’t get to notice because we were busy working on nose work, though. There were also fake people randomly placed around the museum but they didn’t bother me at all.
They also have fake Dalmatians placed here and there, but no one was worried about them either. I don’t think we got a photo of any of them.
When we were searching Mom could not believe how many vehicles they placed in this one building.
Just for fun, they have this clown car like truck up high when you come in the place.
Seeing and sniffing all the old trucks and equipment was a really great time and experience, something most dogs never get to do. I’m thankful Mom looks for out of the ordinary trials and we get to search them together.
In the end we found fifteen of seventeen hides and earned 88 points which is great. We were way too slow, so we didn’t get any placements. It was a fun trip with super fun searching! If you are ever in Ypsilanti, you should check out the Michigan Firehouse Museum, it is really a fun place to see…or smell.

Love the antique fire trucks! My gram lived in Ypsilanti for years but I haven’t been back since I was in elementary school. Congrat on your finds, Olivia!
Wow, that is funny Gram lived in Ypsilanti. Mom lived just a couple towns away when she first was a flight attendant and some of her friends lived in Ypsilanti. The fire museum was so much fun to search!
oh what a super location… that is a super part of your sports… you can visit places no pup ever saw…. congrats Olivia!!!
Mom tries to find fun places to search when she can, not just boring schools and stuff. This weekend it will be a baseball stadium.
Oh wow! What a great place to go sniff….and then to go back and really see the museum! We do that you did get a shot of a Dalmation in picture #6!!!
Well, we didn’t go back to see the museum, but Mom got to take time to see the old fire trucks in the main hall during the awards cermony.
What an awesome time you had! And, yes, my brothers and I have always been exhausted after a car trip! Even though we sleep in the car the whole time!! We loved these pictures what an awesome place. Have a great day your friends Chester and Lilly
It was very special to get to search in such a cool place. The only thing better would be if I was a Dalmatian!
I think of all the places you have searched, this is the most intere What fun you two have!!!sting and complicated/distracting. Your mom DID get a shot of a dalmation! What fun you two have! REALLY enjoyed this “tour”
Thank you. We have so much fun sniffing together. It was truly one of the best trial sites we have ever been able to search.
What a fun adventure. I always enjoy going along with you.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
We are full of adventure around here, that is for sure, and we love it!
I love all the fun places I get to go with you!
This place was super special to search, that is for sure!
Colorful and interesting, love all the old stuff … and congrats on your good work while there! Then and now, we appreciate the hard and dangerous work of our great fire persons! And the dogs who accompanied them.
Firefighting is not an easy job, but compared to the early years it has sure gotten a lot better!
What a cool place to go smelling! We are so glad that you get to go to such exciting places as that means we get to see them! Museums are such cool places it is wonderful that they allow you guys to have your scent trials there. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and keep on being awesome! Purrs Marv
Most museums are terrified of the thought of dogs in their museum so we rarely get such an opportunity. We keep the place very clean and don’t cause any damage so hopefully we can go back again one day.
Congrats on your hard work and I love all the old fire engines! Cheers!
Thank you. What an amazing place to be able to search!
We totally understand being wiped out after traveling all day! Sounds like you had a great job sniffing things out, and know you’ll just get faster with practice π

Well, I’m pretty fast, it is Mom that is slow to finally call that we are done. She tries, maybe she will get better.
That looks like a really fun and interesting place and racking up those points is a good thing! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I’m getting close to my champion title, just a couple more tries.
I can see how it would be such a fascinating place, you’d forget to go fast!
I am pretty fast most of the time but my mom is slow to call finished. She always thinks there might be more things to find, but she is working on it.
What a cool place to visit! We love firemen.
We don’t really know any firemen, but the museum was amazing to see and sniff.
