Mural, mural on the wall, we love to find you all! Back on our first bigger road trip in September 2021, we started finding murals along the way. They are always fun to find, and they are a good reason to stop and get out of the car for at least a few minutes. On our way back from Michigan, we found Jackson, Michigan is a mecca for murals!
They actually have a contest going on right now called Bright Walls. Let me tell you, in the art district, almost every wall is bright! Some of these murals are not made for posing but we are posting them anyway. The are either up high, behind dumpsters, or in parking lots full of cars.
The other door has this sign language on it. We love how there is a wide variety of painting. Some of the buildings are completely painted but they are too tough to get a photo of that would make any sense.
Mom went to take a photo of a mural on top of a building and she says she was sucked into mural alley. This is a mural on the wall of a parking lot in a back alley. We have never seen so many murals in one area before.
The butterfly mural above is huge! We are closer to Mom than the mural as we have to sit and stay and she doesn’t trust us in a strange area off leash. Yes, leashes are on, but if we are close enough, she can grab us. Mom did manage to get most of the mural in the photo.
Isn’t this dog one super cool? You feel like you can actually see your reflection in it but, of course, that isn’t possible.
Mom wanted a photo of me with the rhino in this mural. I’m so small, so we put the arrow on the photo so you see me. Since I am pretty good at staying when I am alone, Mom was able to get far enough away to get the entire rhino in the photo.
The favorite mural in Jackson is Look on the Bright Side. We all love bright colors and positivity. This building and its mural are just so much fun.
Traveling on, Chicago has a mural from @greetingstour We have been to quite a few of their postcard murals around the country. You can follow them on social media to find where all their paintings are, with addresses. The only bummer is they usually have their postcard murals in the not so nice parts of town. We still stop when we can. The one in Chicago is in a weird spot, but we managed to get a shot.
Murals are not nature, but we have to be out and about to find them, so we are joining Nature Friday without much nature!
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Wow – so many beautiful murals! My favorite is the butterfly and pretty flowers.
It is a huge mural, and quite pretty but could use a bit of fresh paint.
Wow, those murals are quite incredible. We especially love the butterfly one with you three guys posing so handsomely in the foreground.
Happy Nature Friday!
Thank you. They were a nice surprise find!
ooooh that is super art… we love the doxie that is amazing!!!
That city was amazing with all the murals and painted buildings.
Love these, all of them. We have many in Baltimore, have wanted to photograph, but cannot. Narrow streets, too many cars and too much traffic and not able to get a decent distance away, but much of the “visual wall/building” art is superb. Outdoor art brightens up a town or city so well. Your photos are great!
We couldn’t take photos of all the pretty painting either, but we got some nice ones. We will have to hit Baltimore one day. We had hoped to go to Maryland the beginning of December, but we didn’t get into the trials.
Wow! We can’t pick a favorite. We really love the flowers and butterfly and then we really love the shiny dog! and then we love the bright side. They are all so wonderful! We can’t imagine being able to paint something like that. Wow! We are impressed with how good you all are sitting for the photograph. I would be very good, but my baby brother is so so on sitting and staying… Thanks for so many great photos! Have a great Friday. Your friends Lilly and Chester
Jackson has a real variety of beautifully painted buildings and murals. It was a complete surprise to us as we went to see the postcard and found another, another, another… Finding murals adds to road trip fun.
Great murals, especially the
βMirrorβ dog.
That one totally freaks out our Mom as it looks so real, not like a painting at all.
Many of the murals hadcnature in them. How cool! XOXO Sparkle
You have a good point there, thank you! They were all fun to find.
The murals are fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome. We have a thing for finding murals on road trips.
These are fabulous!!!! my favorite is the zinnias and butterflies, but the mirror daschund is pretty incredible and the three of you did well staying. Nelson, you need a little more work on the SIT-Staying in the one photo, but practice will help that, and we know your mom will definitely give you opportunities. The huge mural on the parking lot has a TON of religious symbolism and hope in it. I coud look at that for a long time finding new things.
Nelson has some conflict as he was taught to sit for everything his first months at our house but then when he started the dog show thing, Mom said no to sit and asked for stand. He does do stand pretty well at least.
Awesome mural photos and love the doggies ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Thank you. Most of the murals are so big, there is no point to posing with them.

It is crazy amazing how real it looks.
A most colorful Nature Friday. Beautiful. You have such wonderful adventures.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to mom. β₯
We enjoy our adventures. Mom has been around the world and lived in Europe for ten years but now she only wants to do road trips in the USA with us pups.
Those are some great murals!!! Our Mama is also a BIG fan of murals!

You should take a little trip to Jackson, it is less than an hour from Detroit and super amazing.
Wow what beautiful murals and such a fun thing to do as a family

It is part of our road trip things to do.
Your Mom sure finds the most interesting and pretty things for you to see!
She does her best but our navigator is really good at finding fun stuff.
Those are great, i wish we had more murals and less graffiti here.
Graffiti can be good but usually it is just a mess. Murals are fun to find.
Those are some amazing murals!
Jackson, MI is #1 for murals in our minds right now.
