Meeting Mr. Claus means a trip to the shopping mall. It’s hard to find a place to meet Santa with a dog these days. Options are quite limited. Mom booked Nelson an appointment online and they headed out last Monday to meet him.
All of us go see Santa when we are puppies. Mom says it is the best time to meet the guy. The mall is a big place but Mom didn’t know where Santa was located. At least when they went in the mall, there was a sign about Santa, so he is there…somewhere.
Nelson wore his Christmas bow tie for his Santa photo. The problem he has is that his long ears flop down and cover up part of the tie. Mom has to adjust his ears and then he needs to stay still. Even though they had an appointment, the only entrance was for no appointment. Hardly anyone was there, so it wasn’t a big deal.
They got right in to see Santa. Meeting Mr. Claus was not a real warm and friendly event. Mom said they felt like they were stuck in a temporary whirlwind, sucked in, and pushed out, without a chance to really get the photo they wanted. Since it wasn’t busy, that was a bummer. Before they knew it, they had a photo in hand and were being ushered out of Santa’s house. Oh well. Mom says most Santa visits don’t go well, but usually it is because it is so crowded. We don’t know what was up with this crew.
They also made a video for Nelson, you can click here to view that if you would like.
On the way out, Nelson posed with the snow monster. People around the area all loved Nelson and couldn’t believe how nice he sits for photos. I guess Santa is the problem in photos, not Nelson! Our little brother can now join the rest of us in having had a meeting with Mr. Claus, and getting a photo of the event.

You look much more handsome in your striking bowtie than Santa does, Nelson, and we love the picture of you sitting under the no reservations sign with a smile on your face! We liked the video!
Thank you. Santa was a bit disappointing, but I know I am a good boy and he will come to our house Christmas Eve after I go to bed.
ooh nelson you are our hero of the day!!! and we love the hoto with santa …
Thank you. If you boys were here we could go together and get a better photo I bet.
I’m sorry you didn’t get the time with Santa you wanted and all the photo opportunities that you needed. Nelson is most handsome though.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
It is always an assembly line with Santa, but at least I got to meet him and we got some kind of photo.
My mom says it’s so commercial just like some restaurants. They want to get you in ( not necessarily in a hurry) but out in a hurry! I’m happy you carried on the Family Tradition, Nelson. XOXO Sparkle
It was important to meet this guy, so I did get that done, but it is disappointing because I am a very good model, but they didn’t give me time to settle in. Oh well.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY DOGS Nelson I have never in all my 100 years seen a personal video from Santa to anyone. WOW what a special memory and I loved your visit with the Jolly St. Nick
Hugs cecilia
Thank you. Santa was a fairly nice guy. I was so rushed, I forgot to tell him what I need for Christmas, so I guess I’ll write him a letter.
Everything these days seems so rushed and impersonal. You did get a picture with Mr Claus, but the pictures with just you and the backgrounds are much cuter.
Mom was really not happy with the entire thing. She was expecting it to be bad as she says it always is, but still not alright.
We love the photo with Santa! you look very grown up!! And the photos in the mall are awesome. well done baby boy!!! Mom doesn’t think I am up to it. We could go over to our vet, but she thinks I am too silly to behave like you did! (my sister agrees with mom!) Have a great day. your friend Chester
You probably haven’t been a model most of your life. Around here photos are on the necessities list with food, water and exercise, LOL! You didn’t miss much. I still have to send me list to the guy because I forgot to tell him what I want in all the rush.
Such a good boy Nelson was! Even though things were. not perfect with Santa’s visit you got lots of love from others and awwwws from seeing how good you were. Santa will be good to you this Christmas fur sure!
I hope he is good to me because I have been a really good boy since I was born.
Nelson, you look dashing with your Christmas bow tie!
Thank you. Mom says I need clown sized bow ties so my giant ears don’t cover it up.
Santa was not very nice but the video is cute. He wasnβt even in a Santa suit. I think Nelson deserves a redo.
Mom doesn’t have much hope of a better Santa. It is hard to find a time and place where he will see dogs and we don’t want to pay for another bad photo. I had my experience and now I can move on, maybe the Easter Bunny will want to see me?
awww very cute! Great bow tie too!
Thank you.
That’s too bad, Santa looked pretty Jolly but it must have just been gas. You looked fabulous though Nelson!
He wasn’t mean or anything, but just not overly friendly either.
We have a local dog rescue that does pictures with Santa every year at the pet store. The guy who does it loves it. Maybe you could find something like that near you.
It is kind of hit and miss around here and a lot of those things are not well advertised, so we don’t know about them.
Santas never give you enough time to settle. I think you deserve a retake. Bowties for little boys work the best for us GBGV guys. I inherited quite a collection when I moved to St. Louis! We are still working on Christmas outfits for a photo shoot. Perhaps you saw our Halloween photos in the GBGVCA newsletter that just come out??
I like the bow ties and Mom always wanted a boy she she could get some bow ties. Good luck with your outfits. We did see your photos in the last newsletter.
We have found our only fun Santa visits have been the get togethers with dog friends where we hire a Santa. Maybe one of your sporting event clubs can do something like that.
xoxo,
Rosy
I think there was something with holiday photos at one place but we were doing sports that weekend. It’s alright. I’ve met the guy and I don’t have to see him in person anymore since we have already met.
You “spoke my words” at the end of your post … I thought Santa was the problem, NOT Nelson, he was a very good boy. Santa gets coal in his stocking and Nelson gets treats and pressies!
Santa was not a real dog kind of guy. He just wanted to snap a photo and be done, but at least I got to meet him.
Adorably cute! No doubt Santa thinks you are quite the good dog.
He only said he likes me long ears.
