Have you visited Gobbler’s Knob or met all the groundhogs in Punxsutawney? Madison’s nose work trial cancelled because of an ice storm and we were already in Pennsylvania, so we went to see Phil, the famous groundhog. The town has thirty two statues and then there is Gobbler’s Knob where Phil comes out every year on February second.
Punxy as the locals call it is a cute old town that is full of groundhog. We would never go there around Groundhog Day as it would be nuts!
Our timing was perfect as it was cold and snowy, no tourists around. We could pose anywhere with any groundhog without interruption. Madison started off with this money bags groundhog.
Nelson also found a groundhog at a bank, but his was talking about a famous saying. It looks like Nelson is hungry for some cash!
I found a hardware groundhog. Calling all handymen out there, this one is for you!
Madison also came across the Wendy’s groundhog. She is a cutie, I mean the groundhog.
This is the only one we saw the back of and she sure does have a cute behind π
My next groundhog had a broken paw. I guess he is advertising for a medical place.
Last but not least Nelson met the gardener groundhog.
Once we had found a few groundhogs to pose with, we headed up the hill to Gobbler’s Knob. This is the actual entrance people will use on Groundhog Day.
We were the only folks at the site that day. They were super friendly, and dog friendly as well. We could go to any of the spots and it was not a problem. It was all icy, though, so Mom could only take us one at a time. She didn’t want us to pull and hurt her.
Behind me is where the TV thing takes place every year. It is pretty cool to see it for real.
Look at me! I am up on stage! Mom says we are going to watch Phil in February because we can say we have stood where Phil forecasts the weather every year! The plan was for all three of us to be on stage for a photo, but with the ice, we would have to get up there one at a time and it is a downhill walk of about one hundred fifty yards, so Mom said I could just do it alone.
In case you don’t know what Groundhog Day is, this sign gives you the full scoop.
Madison found another place for a photo with a pretty cool metal groundhog.
We had a great time except for the ice. If you are in the area, we recommend visiting the town and Gobbler’s Knob. After our little groundhog stops, it was back in the car and off to my trial the next day. Road trips can be so much fun and so interesting too, that is why they make us so happy!
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
Punxsutawney is very impressive and we love all of the creative groundhogs! What a fun place to visit!
We recommend stopping if you are ever in the area. There is so much to see, we barely got started.
Very interesting – all the groundhogs are in the same position, just with different decorations! My guess is that all of you would like to sniff out a groundhog!
We really wanted to meet the real Phil, but he would not come out of his house. I guess he is firm on the February 2nd thing.
My favorite dog groomer lives on Punxsutawney.
How fun! Does she groom groundhogs too?
Wendy’s Ground Hog…lol I used to work with a lady who roomed with the real Wendy in college.
Gobblers Knob I love it
Hugs Cecilia
How cool is that! Did she look anything like the Wendy we found? She is pretty funny looking, especially from behind. Watch TV on Feb 2nd and you will see the stage I was on and the place Phil comes out of too. Pretty fun.
It certainly is a fun place and they’ve capitalized on the old weather prognostication legends beautifully. What most don’t realize is in old days, each area looked to the creatures nearby, not everyone in the country looking to one place to predict for everyone.
It’s still fun, and i always enjoy Groundhog Day, it’s such a simple day to celebrate.
Fun holidays are always a good thing whether they are nonsense or not. This town really has done a great job celebrating their groundhog predicting the weather and we had a lot of fun in our short visit.
So fun. I would love to visit there and on the day that Phil shows up.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
That is the one time of year we would NOT want to go there. It would be so crowded, yikes! We enjoyed our time having the place all to ourselves π
What a cool stop to make! We love the movie Groundhogs Day –we bet it was cool to see the sights in real life. You all look so great in your pictures and the groundhog statues are adorable. Nice work!! have a super day, your friends Lilly and Chester
Thank you, it was one of our top fun adventures probably. It is fun to see everything and having it all to ourselves was a real treat. We got to take all the photos we wanted without anyone bothering us.
Before we know it …it will be Groundhogs Day again! Cheers and Happy New Year!
Mom says we are going to watch Phil this year since we were just there. I can say I sniffed Phil’s log too!
WoW! What an interesting place to visit, and those groundhogs are really cool! We sure enjoyed seeing you with them. Keep on being awesome! Purrs Marv
We just loved our visit to Punxy. What a fun place to see and since it was cold and snowy, we had it all to ourselves.
That is one super cool visit and how cool you got to see all of the sights and stand on the Phil stage!
I know. I feel pretty special getting to do so many things. We can’t wait to see Phil in 2023 because now we know all about where he is at.
I always liked groundhogs! What fun to actually be there!
It was pretty special and a lot of fun for all of us.
Sorry your event was cancelled but what pawsome pics in the land of Groundhogs.
Mom was thrilled we could visit the groundhog place but she was still bummed my trial was cancelled.
