Growing up as puppy Nelson, with three sisters, in Minnesota has not been all that bad! Actually, the past nine months or so have been a lot of fun for me and the whole family I think. Today I’m looking back at how I changed since moving here. I’m posting more photos from the earlier months, since we all forget those more. My New Years post also had most of my milestones, so I’m leaving them out too.
How about this photo from my first week at my new home? I think I am a guy with a purpose. My mom says it brings her to the 1970 song from Santa Clause is Coming to Town – Put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking across the floor. You put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking out the door.
Here we all are in the car in Rochester, MN for FastCAT. It is the first time Mom took all four of us anywhere. Shortly after this photo, Madison had her accident on her run and her weekend was over.
Madison stayed home the rest of the weekend, so there were three of us. This is my first photo shoot at a point of interest. I think I did pretty well.
My entire life people have told me I am handsome. My sisters told me about some magazine for women with sexy men photos in it. At four months old, I posed and wanted to know if this is the kind of thing girls are looking for. My sisters just laughed at me and said I look like a beached seal.
The next big accomplishment was going to Wisconsin, my fourth state visited. Bailie and Olivia had Scent Work, and I rode along. On the way home we stopped at the creamery to take this photo. I guess Wisconsin is famous for cheese and cheese curds.
For a puppy, sometimes I am very focused. What concentration I have at just four months old!
Mom likes to go to the Summer Solstice Event every June. This year she took all four of us. It is the last time all of us have gone anywhere. She says it is so much work and she was exhausted. My sisters all competed in Barn Hunt and Fast Cat, and I needed to have walks and some attention too. Just getting all the kennels in and set up, our fans, treats, etc, all takes a lot of time and energy.
In July, Mom said it was time for her little man dog to start wearing a bow tie for special occasions. I really don’t mind, and it makes her happy. Can you tell I am growing up a lot at six months old?
My paws are still really big, but here as a younger pup on the couch they look almost too big for me.
Going to Montana was exhausting for this cowboy. It is a long drive, but now I am kind of used to the long trips. It was my first really long trip.
In September I also headed off to Des Moines for my first dog show. Growing up as a show dog is kind of fun, but right now we have a pause on that plan.
Halloween is a really odd time of year. All this odd stuff pops up in people’s yards and on their houses. I like this Frankenstein guy. He is quite friendly, at least to me.
November brought the first measurable snow to our house. It sure is a lot of fun! I never thought we would have about four feet of the stuff just two months later, but I still love it. Growing up in Minnesnowta is a load of fun.
In December this thing called Christmas happened. I was shocked when Mom brought a tree into our house. Being a good boy, I never even tried to pee on it. I did try to chew on it, though. Lying underneath it to eat my treats and chews was a lot of fun. Madison showed me that trick.
And just like that my first year of growing up is about to end. I’m a happy guy and I’m excited to see what my next year brings!
My GBGV Life joining Comedy Plus for the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
we love you and we have so much fun to read about your adventures…
Thank you. I’ve had a pretty fun first year.
Nelson your sisters were wrong… that photo of you posing on the deck is EXACTLY what the gals are looking for…OMDs. A man in a bow tie makes me weak in the knees. And in closing I must say I’m very jealous of your gawgeous long chocolate brown ear furs
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you very much. I like my ears too and I will tell you a secret. I sometimes suck on my ears after I eat my meals because they taste like my food. Since they are so long, they sometimes fall into my bowl π
You sure are a well-traveled boy for one so young, Nelson, and you look so handsome in your French beret!
Thank you. I’ve had a pretty darn good first year.
awesome photos! we loved this year’s adventures and look forward to years to come! Happy Birthday Week Baby Boy! your friends Lilly and Chester
I hope there will be lots more adventure in my life but Mom says the traveling is going to slow down for a while because Olivia will be done with the level of nose work she is at. Still we will be going places and having fun.
You’ve fit right into the pack, Nelson. You’re handsome and your sister have been there for you. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for all of you.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your mom. β₯
I’m pretty excited to see how my sports wind up. Running FastCat will be a lot of fun and I am going to challenge Olivia in all the sports and we will see who is the best.
You are a gorgeous boy, Nelson. Your sisters were just playing with you. And, you have definitely grown into your paws.
My sisters like to tease me, but I don’t worry much about them. I am the little man in the house, after all.
You are quite the Stud Muffin in that cowboy hat! Even a s a puppy!!! Anxious to see what you will do this year!
The girls all seem to like me. I ran into one of my barn hunt girl friends at the trial yesterday. We had some fun together, as much as we could have on leash with our moms right there. She says I’m handsome.
Yo have had a very exciting and full first year. You truly are a lucky puppy!
I think I am pretty lucky. Lots of dogs don’t even get walks but I got to go all over the place and it sure has been fun.
You had such a pawsome first year and we bet year 2 is even better!!
xoxo,
Sunny and Rosy

I’m excited to see what all we end up doing this year. Right now we only have one big thing on the radar, but I’m sure there will be more.

I do enjoy a lot of fun. We are all looking forward to see what 2023 will bring.
Nelson, you’ve had an adventurous life!
I really got to do a lot of things for a young pup. Hopefully being one will be even more fun!
What a great first year, Nelson!
I’m pretty happy with my first year. I never thought about doing all the things I have done, but it has been Grand.
