What are we thankful for today? Today is a tough day to be thankful I have some weird growths that Mom is taking me to the vet to have looked at, and we have some of the worst air quality in the world. Still we manage to find good in everything. This is a photo of me on my walk earlier in the week as this morning the air was just awful.
I’ve had some bumps/growths on my nose over the last year or two. Mom asked the vet about them last year and was told they are nothing to worry about. Since that time, I scratched one on the side of my nose so much that it finally just disappeared. Now I have a bigger one on top of my nose. It is hard to see, but it is also growing and it bothers my mom.
There is another one on top of my one back paw, and there are a couple tiny ones by my ankle. The one on top of my paw has grown a lot and the other day I started licking and biting at it. Mom called the vet and I am lucky to get an appointment to have it looked at today. They may need to remove it since it is bothering me. My furs around it are slowly turning color from all my licking. It is really ugly, but since no one usually looks at my paws up close, it isn’t seen by anyone.
I will keep everyone posted when I find out what is going on with my bumps. Getting into the vet the end of this week is truly something to be thankful for with all the people taking off for the holiday weekend.
We are also super thankful for a home with air conditioning. Those darn Canadians have been sending their smoke down here for several weeks now and it is really bad. We live in the red area. Since we are not going out much, things are pretty boring after a few days of indoor life. Even when Mom lets us go out, we really don’t want to be out. When we come in, we all smell like a campfire.
Who has the worst air quality in the world? We come in fourth place, but it really is not something we wanted to have a top placement in. Thank you to NBC for this wonderful placement. Feel free to find new winners asap.
If you wonder what the numbers mean, this little chart will help you out. Supposedly the air will be better later today, and we hope that is true. Until then we are thankful we don’t have to be outside and can keep our windows closed too.

we hve all paws crossed for good news. and we hope the vet can chase all that bumps away and they never come back..
The one on my back paw is really ugly and it bugs me.
Mystery bumps are no fun at all. It seems we all (canine and human) get some over time, and sometimes it is just a relief to get rid of them.
We send you sympathy on your air quality; we had some of those days in the past few years here in Northern California, and it was both awful and scary to have fires all around. Be thankful it is not a permanent condition like some of those other cities on that list!!!
Sadly, it has become more and more common around here the past few years with the drought conditions.
Please let us know wha the vet says. So glad you got an appointment.
Mom didn’t think they would have space, but luckily they do.
It’s really ok, BaIlie! the bumps are REALLY common, especially as we get older. My vet just freezes them off if they get to be too annoying. They bother Mom more than they bother me! Our air quality today is STAY INSIDE – especially if your lungs are compromised – which mom’s are. I wish Canda could get their fires under control – that would help a lot. Mom is wondering what seeds, critter eggs, bacteria and molds are in the soot that is blowing over our Country. Lookout for weird things next Spring! WE are thankful for AIR CONDITIONING and COOL water! Jimmy Parker & Olive
The one on my paw bugs me and the one on my nose that I removed on my own bugged me too. We will see what they can do for me.
We hope the lumps and bumps aren’t anything serious, Bailie. Paws and fingers are crossed!
Hopefully not. Mom says getting old isn’t always pretty.
Bailie…sending lots of human prayers and and hugs for you and Mom.
I heard about the air quality on last night’s news. Makes it hard to get in walks when the air is thick with smoke.
Hugs and purrs
Cecilia
We still go out in the morning and do our walks or runs but it is not really nice. Hopefully it will keep clearing up and stay clear.
We have all of our paws crossed. let us know. sending only good thoughts. We have yucky air too. But you are good to think of the good things to be grateful for. Have a good day. your friends Chester and Lilly
We try to always find things to be happy about.
We are sending POTP in hopes the Vet can take care of those bumps for you Bailie!!

PeeEss…Mama sure hopes the air quality gets better tomorrow when they fly into Minneapolis. Looks like the place they are staying(a few hours north of Minneapolis) has better air, thank goodness!
The air is better today and they say it should stay better the next few days. Sometimes it is worse up north, sometimes it is better. It all depends on the winds. Make sure then wave when they fly over our house just prior to landing. We will be the four hounds waving from a fenced yard south of the airport, LOL!
Hoping the growths turn out to be nothing! As for the air quality, I’m afraid we have you beat…BIG TIME. Detroit has the SECOND WORST air quality in the entire WORLD.
It has been nasty and we are really tired of it. Hope it goes and stays gone!
I hope those bumps that are bothering you are gone soon and that they are nothing to be concerned about at all. Purrs and hugs from all of your kitty pals here. We hope your air clears soon. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I pray the little things are annoying but not dangerous and can be easily removed if they are bothering you.
As for the air quality, i hope that gets better for all of us soon, as well as an end to these fires.
I would need to have surgery to remove the two bigger bumps. We are going to try some medication on the paw one to see if it will stop bothering me first. Mom doesn’t want surgery if we can avoid it.
It seems all wrong ‘liking’ a post where growths and bad air are at the center of it. We hope the vet appointment went well and you’ll soon be recovering from having them removed and that bad air clears out soon.
The bad air is gone for now and I am putting medicine on my paw growth and hoping it gets better. Mom doesn’t want me to have surgery unless there is no other option.
