Do you know what is in your hometown? We figured out that we do not! Mom never goes into the town we live in. We’re on the far northern edge and have no reason to visit downtown…until now. Lakeville was on the news the other night and Mom almost fell out of bed when she saw some good photo opps in the background. Tuesday morning, she grabbed me and we headed into town to take a couple photos.
Our first stop is at the dinosaur outside a bar. It is all painted up for the University of Minnesota. Isn’t it cool looking? Goldy Gopher is front and center with those nice buck teeth! We think the guy about half a mile from our house makes these dinos for a living. For a long time he had four of them, each made up differently, but the same shape, size, and grass base in his driveway. Bailie posed with them if you care to have a look. Right now he has one with nothing on it. We are super curious as to what he is up to.
Right down the block is the Lakeville Arts Center. We found a few fun items there as well. Butterflies are really in these days, thus this display behind and above me. They are quite pretty.
On the other side of the building we found the bright and beautiful moose. We saw the moose on the news in the background which is why we decided to take this little photo trip. It looks like he is really walking through that tall grass he is in.
Our trip was short and sweet, but we found out a lot about how our town is growing! There are new stores and gas stations, roads, and lots of new neighborhoods. It is a good reminder to visit the hometown downtown now and then. Since we took our little excursion before breakfast, my energy level was low. I took a quick rest on this pretty flower bench. Do you visit your town’s downtown much?
We are joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
What beautiful and colorful creations! Love the moose and the bench you’re sitting on is wonderful too, Olivia!
We had no idea these things were so close to us. We also didn’t know our town is the 7th largest in the state. I guess we never pay attention to those things.
These are great! How cool to find them right near you!! Have a great Friday!!!! your friends Lilly and Chester
We were surprised! I guess one should know more about where they live, but Mom has only been here for 16 years, LOL!
Not being travelers as you are … exploring our hometown is what we do! You’ve found wonderful, charming, colorful spots … imagine there may be more!
We will probably take another look around one of these days.
wow the mose!!! and this bench… how great!!!
Some fun stuff.
We live between 2 towns that are growing too fast! We walk a lot in the one town, and it is pretty dull if we compare it to those photos of your town!
We never have a reason to go to the town itself, so we rarely do. There is more there than we thought, but it is growing too.
OMDs I love all the colorful out of doors art and your poses are perfect
I think the Moose is my favorite. Thank goodness mom’s timing on seeing the info was perfect for a trip to snap all the fun
Hugs and happy weekend
Cecilia
We always love bright and cheery, so these things are perfect for us, and close to home too.
Love all the photos of the colorful animals and butterflies! But I especially like the one of you on that beautiful park bench!!
I don’t think people sit on it very much because it is in an out of the way spot. I was careful to sit on the far side so I wouldn’t damage any pain or anything with my paws.
We love all those colourful creatures – especially the moose.
As Aberdeen’s ‘downtown’ (‘city centre’ in British English!) is less than a mile away we do go there quite often. But it is nowhere near as colourful as Lakeville. It’s always fun to see the areas where our blog pals live.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
We are surprised at the fun things they have out and about. The little downtown is still not an area we will go often, but it was fun to see what all is there and find the fun art.
Wow! Isn’t it amazing how you can live near something for a long time and never visit? You found some really cool stuff, I thing the moose is our favorite!!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
It is amazing but we then realized we never to to the actual town, so we will got there once and a while now to see what we can find.
MY GOODNESS!!! I LOVE that moose!! the other ones are also quite fun, but Moose have big noses – like we hounds do, so we are quite fond of them. Olive &Jimmy
He is a cool moose!
Your town has all kinds of things that are pretty to see and very colorful!
We love colorful at our house, so we must live in the right town.
Your town looks lovely. Unfortunately, ours is not so much. In fact, if you go to the downtown of the largest town hear us, you find a circus that never ends called the state legislature. and the extremely high crime areas around it.
That is sad. In the cities just 20 or so mins away there is a lot of crime. We hope our area stays safe for a long time.
What fabulous local photo ops your Mom managed to photograph. LOVE that moose and the flower bench. Beautiful artistry. Perhaps we need to visit other parts of town to see similar local stuff. We’re getting bored with the same ole, same ole.
We get bored too and then something usually pops up like this.
I live in a very small town and live way out in the country near woods and I live in Bruin, PA.
I know near my town Indians lived and played and the town was named for Bears and still is.
My town is probably so small it may not even be on the map LOL.
We’ve been in PA a lot the past two years, but not north of Pittsburgh, mostly east and/or south, also in some pretty tiny towns.
