Happy Labor Day 2023 in the USA! This holiday was originally created to help workers get a day off as they often worked seven days a week and over seventy hours a week at their jobs in the early 1800’s. Many people still work on Labor Day, but labor has come a long way with most jobs having a five day, forty hour work week.
At our house, my siblings and I work like dogs. How will we celebrate this holiday? I for one will be snuggled into my cozy bed in Mom’s office. I plan to nap a lot and not do much else. For one thing it is way too hot outside, almost one hundred degrees. Resting is always a good thing in my book.
Madison also has a day of relaxation planned. Most likely we will all be up early and out for long walks or a run in the morning but after breakfast, our napping and taking it easy will begin.
Olivia is going to be in her favorite spot, the wicker kennel bed. She uses the Furballz as a head rest/pillow which keeps Nelson from stealing it while she sleeps.
Nelson is the odd duck, not only because he is the only boy, but his choice of sleeping spots is strange. When it is really hot out like today will be, he sleeps in the dark, back hall, on the hardwood floor, with his head on the A/C vent.
No matter how you celebrate, we wish you a Happy Labor Day 2023!

Way too hot and humid too but starting Wednesday we will be in the 70’s.
It’s cool here and that’s very unusual. I don’t think the air conditioner came on at all the last two days. We’re enjoying it.

Starting Wednesday it will be in the 70’s and we can’t wait! This heat and humidity is really too much and zaps all the fun out of things too.

He has his own ideas and they work well for him. We girls like something more soft to sleep on and are not sure about using an a/c vent for a pillow.

We have a breeze too, but with the almost 100 degrees it is more like a blast furnace out there.
It’s probably a “guy” thing……Levi only sleeps on the Pergo floors…….and Dakota did too. Happy Labor Day!
That is what we think as Mom has always had girls and we have all likes a cushy, soft bed.

We all have to be there for holidays.
Hot and humid here, too, though thankfully not 100 degrees (“only” 92). Luckily it was cool this morning when we first got up. And it wasn’t too humid yet when we went out a couple of hours ago. But now it’s heating up out there. So, while the Z Kids nap, I’m going to clean the hallway and back bedroom. Then I’ll put the robot vacuum to work. The whole house needs a good cleaning; but I’m only doing one room at a time (yesterday was the bathroom’s turn). I refuse to be a slave to the house any more, like I used to be. Besides, it’ll give me something constructive to do while the Zs sleep in the coolness of the house.

Mom hates cleaning the house, but she says a cleaning lady would be useless because she is the type that would need to clean before the cleaning person comes to the house. She did do some dusting and windows today, though.
The floor in front of the door seems to be a boy dog thing; Zachary likes to sleep like that during the day, too.
Maybe they are being the big protectors?
BOL BOL BOL Work like Dogs…that was funny as I looked at your pictures. I am so ready to get rid of this horrid hot weather. We had to beautiful days over the weekend but we have 96 and 98 today and tomorrow with feels like triple digits. I am not a fan of summer AT ALL!!

Summer is our least favorite season of the year at our house. We have so many things we would love to do on this extra weekend day, but it is too hot and humid. We did get our really early, but it is such a waste of a day when it is this hot out. Starting Wednesday temps will fall to the 70’s and we are excited about that!
yes, it is supposed to get very hot again. it was cool for a few days, I even had to wear a jacket. in the mid 90’s here. I think your Mom needs to celebrate and relax, because she really works like a dog. She works hard so she can buy all of your necessities and fun things, birthday parties and going to all of those events is not cheap. so i think all of you should celebrate your Mom and give her a truly earned Labor Day off.
We give her plenty of downtime, but she is the one who keeps getting us going. The four of us don’t have her energy! She takes it easy now and then.

No laboring because it was a holiday and way too hot out.
I labored, but I’m glad you pups got a day to do as you wish. Nelson reminds me of my Sweetie, he’s a cold seeker.
Nelson can always be found near an A/C vent when it is hot out!
Hang in there, hopefully the heat dome will break soon and we can move on to autumn and sweaters, dare I say. 🙂
