Olivia and I earned some bonus titles and Q’s at Purina Farms last weekend. It was more than just a show weekend, we got to do other things as well and it worked out great for us! Last year there wasn’t much going on except my dog show things but this year was different.
Mom read about CGC testing being done on Friday. I am the only one of us that doesn’t have a CGC Title in our family. We did some training here and there the past couple of weeks to prepare. Right after my first trip to the show ring, we headed over to give the CGC test a try. Two of the ten required items gave us some trouble, but we managed to squeak by and I now have my own CGC Title!
The evaluator told us that if we have a CGC Title, we can get a Novice Trick Dog Title by doing only five tricks. Of course, we felt the need to try for that too. It was super easy to do my tricks and I earned my NTD Title. Not a lot of dogs were coming for testing, so Mom grabbed Olivia and brought her in to try for a Trick Dog Title. Olivia also passed easily and earned her NTD Title. We each did shake, high five, paws up, and puppy push ups. I also did jump into a box and Olivia did her leap. They didn’t have any ribbons for our titles but we will be getting them in the mail along with our certificates. Above is a photo of the ribbon we will each be receiving.
Hey, check out you what you see behind us! We didn’t mean to lie last week when we said our FastCAT season was over for 2023. Mom found out two days before we left for Missouri that they were running FastCAT on the weekend at Purina Farms. Friday was a busy day with my dog show stuff late morning, then the CGC and NTD stuff, and Sunday we left right after my dog show appearance. Mom surprised us on Saturday by entering us each in two FastCAT runs. My dog show time was eight in the morning, so we had the whole day to do other things.
Both of us had been cooped up in the car and in kennels a lot for two days. Running some FastCAT is a great way to burn off some energy. It is also fun to run in a different place because the sport is the same, but the way the clubs work it is different. Saturday I did my dog show thing, then a while later we practiced some nose work just for fun on our own with Mom, and topped off our day with FastCAT.
Saturday was not too warm, the course was nice and flat, and we ran great! Several people even commented on how happy and excited we were to be running. Both of us Q’d on our runs and we each ran one personal best! This truly is a great way to end our season! Both of us are over half way to our next titles now with all the points we have earned this month. We’re thankful for bonus titles and Q’s and for a great time at Purina Farms this visit!

congratulations… you are fantabulous that’s no trick… yep!!!
We really went for the dog show, but found all the other stuff was happening, so they are accidental titles and points.
I canโt keep up with all of you. Where does the energy come from?
We love doing our stuff. The season for us ends in another 6-8 weeks and then we have a couple months to practice and relax.
I can surely understand running off the car ride confinements being fun in such a beautiful location.
Hugs Cecilia
We do a lot of sitting around when we travel, so FastCAT is ideal to run off some energy. Mentally we are worn out but not physically.
Bravo to you sweet doggies and sweet photo ~ Xo

What a weekend!!! We love that you got Trick Dog Titles!! Now youโre tricky as well adorable! and Fastcats!!! Well done!! Congratulations. your friends Chester and Lilly
Mom told the lady that we don’t do tricks but then we saw the list and the option to do something special we do that others don’t and we tried it. Now we get more letters after our names!
Way to go Nelson and Olivia! So good to see you again. Wish we would have been able to watch you run FASCAT. We found out that there will be more fastcat weekends at Purina this Fall. Olive is ready to run and I am getting over my rash, so I want to run also. Jimmy Parker
It’s a bummer you couldn’t run. Since we didn’t know about FastCAT until Wed last week we did day of show and they put us at the end of the day. Thankfully, it wasn’t too hot Saturday. We are really done with FastCAT for this year now, and it was a great season. Hope you guys get some more runs in.
You two had an awesome weekend! Maybe we should look into trick dog things!
We have no idea what other levels require, but novice is pretty easy. It was a busy and fun weekend with a lot of success.
Both of you are so smart! Congratulations!
It was a fun weekend and the Trick Titles are a nice surprise. We learned that things we do all the time sometimes count as tricks.
What a fabulous weekend, congratulations to two super-hounds!
Usually we plan for titles and things but these were accidental which makes them all the more fun!
WOW, what a fun and exciting time you had there. Big congratulations on the new titles and your fast runs too! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
It was a super fun weekend all around!
We love the sound of ‘bonus.’ Well done!
We had no idea we would get new titles and FastCAT points. It really made the weekend perfect!
