We had our first Airbnb experience on our Purina Farms trip last weekend. Our breeder booked one and invited us to stay there too. Mom has been leery of staying at an Airbnb, so it would be a good way to see what it is like. It is located in Pacific, just a ten minute drive from Purina Farms. Not only is it closer than decent hotels, it is a lot less expensive too.
From the house to the show site, is where we hopped onto Route 66 every day. The house was clean and convenient. It is not a palace but it didn’t need to be anything fancy as we came back later at night, slept, and left again in the morning. This plate greeted us when we came into the house. Nancy is our breeder. The walls are full of quotes like the one on this wall, and also art pieces. One could say the walls were totally cluttered with stuff, but it isn’t like it was in the way.
Mom finds this odd Kleenex box in the main bathroom rather odd and slightly disgusting. It does fit well into the home decor, though.
There is a lot of space in the yard, but it is not fenced, so no place to race and chase. Even out in the yard, there is stuff everywhere. This lizard is on the post of the sidewalk leading up to the house. In the background you can see the bird bath and other stuff sitting around.
The frog is on the front window. It is a big metal frog, over a foot long and wide. We think it is trying to see what all of us dogs are up to in the house. There were seven of us dogs total but we didn’t hang out together. The house is too small for an all out chase and wrestle party.
Right next to the door to go into the house is another colorful lizard. It too appears to be spying on us.
We didn’t have much room to go for walks because there is a road out in front of the house and no walkway. Across the road is a place called the Landing Hub. It looks very nice, so we checked that out. This plane is outside in the parking area.
The place is actually a Boutique Hotel. We looked it up online. It is kind of a fancy Airbnb style hotel, and very modern.
Our first Airbnb experience went well. We are not sure if we would book one on our own or look for a hotel next time we travel. At least we have a feel for how it all works.
Iβm joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
You guys are sure lucky as I have never stayed in a hotel, motel or AireBnb. We love the colorful lizards and frog!
We would love to meet the owner of the house as she seems like a very “artsy” person. It was definitely full of things on the walls, inside and out!
I’ve stayed in several Airbnb’s, but never one as fun as that!
The owner must be an art type of person as there as stuff on the walls inside and out, not much of a bare spot anywhere.
Certainly an eclectic and fun place … even if a bit limited for serious “pup play”. Glad it worked out well for all of you, though!
Since we basically just slept and left each night, it wasn’t a problem not having a fenced yard or walking paths.
I guess the owner liked frogs b
She likes artsy things of all kinds we think.
Well, at least you gave the airBnB thing a try. I’m sure there are some really good ones around but I think you might not know until you show up.
We are not sure if we want to try on our own or not. Time will tell.
Hip Hip Hooray…good to know about your stay I love the very positive quote on the welcoming plate.
Amen we all need to learn to dance in the rain like nobuddy is watching
I agree about the kleenx dispenser…
Hugs Cecilia
It was a positive place!
Did you say seven dogs! That is a lot of friends in one place. We have never stayed in a airbnb either. We are glad to read about your experience! Have a great Friday. Your friends Lilly and Chester
Our breeder had five and then us two. We were all separated so no big play date or anything.
Interesting report on the AirBnB. In my experience in the UK, the quality and costs are variable. But I’ve never been in one so filled with ‘stuff’ as where you stayed. I have to say, I think the Kleenex holder is horrid. When I’m travelling with Nobby, the more sparsely furnished the better!
Cheers, Gail.
Our breeders dogs were mostly in their kennels and we were in our bedroom, so the furnishings were not important.
I haven’t stayed in one yet but have always wanted to. Yours looks like it was quite nice!
It wasn’t bad, but Mom kind of likes hotels. We may try one on our own one of these days.
Our parents stay at AirBnBs and VRBOs when they travel without s…but we have never been to one.
They do tend to be a bit eclectic.

Sunny & Rosy
Mom feels better about a hotel, but sometimes hotels are hard to find so we may try an Airbnb.
We may try a VRBO for our next trip. By the way, I may be the odd person out – I think that kleenex box is funny!
We are sure some find it funny. Mom thought it was ugly and creepy, but not a big deal.
I love the Kleenex box! We haven’t stayed in an Airbnb for many decades, but I’d be game, especially if there were other dog folks staying there!
It worked well for last weekend.
That tissue box! Oh, my.
I’ve stayed at an Airbnb that someone else actually rented and it was a very nice place, quite convenient, clean and worth it.
It was perfect for our weekend, but we are not sure if we will do it on our own in the future or not.
Don’t give up on the whole AirBnB thing. We rented one that was dog friendly for a long weekend in the mountains to attend my nephew’s wedding. It had a small but fenced yard and a jillion dog beds, balls and other dog related items and worked nicely for our event attendance. If you’re staying for multiple nights, they can be sufficiently more cost effective. And we were able to save even more by cooking there rather than eating out at nearby restaurants.
Mom brings her own food and our raw food, so the fridge is a huge draw! We will see what we can find next time we need a place to stay. If we find something that looks right, we may give it a try.
