Today we have a variety of outdoor activities to share. The biggest news is that I passed my tracking certification test on Tuesday. Now I can enter a tracking test. I hate so mention it, but Olivia did not pass hers, so she is a bit bent out of shape about the whole thing.
My track was on the field behind me. The grass was still really wet from all our rain, and it was cool out – ideal tracking weather. Joan, the judge, laid my track before we arrived and it aged a half hour. It was just over 440 yards long with four turns and I ran it in about four minutes. Mom was very lost and kept telling me we were failing. I have to tune her out and do my thing. Thank dog, she keeps following me. The judge said I did a beautiful run with textbook turns. Mom is super proud of me and we hope to get a spot in the October test.
Yesterday the 2023 FastCAT Invitational invitations for my three sisters arrived. We are not going, but it is an honor to be invited even if not very many GBGV’s ran. The invitations are for the 2022 year. Bailie is invited and we are so proud of her to make it but she would rather die than do a road trip to Florida. She has been there three times in her life and she doesn’t want any more road trips! If Madison and Nelson get invited along with me for 2024, we may do the trip. Right now we are in good shape, but the season isn’t over.
Finally, my girlfriend next door has been running the fence with me a lot lately. Even Bailie sometimes joins in our fun.
We keep racing up and down the fence line. It is one of my favorite outdoor activities, and I think it helps me train for FastCAT too. Look at my girl’s tongue, it is super long and hanging out the side of her mouth.
Bailie gets tired of racing with us youngsters but I keep on racing. I don’t know why she isn’t running, but I am flying.
Oh dear, I’m overshooting my target. I have to slow myself down somehow!
Time for a quick stop maneuver. I think my girl is toying with me. I’m eleven months older than she is. We first met back in April when she moved in with her family. As she has gotten older, we play more and more. Since she is an only dog, she loves having friends next door to play with.
Iβm joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.
Congratulations, Nelson, and don’t you look dapper in your beret and tie! You pups are lucky to have a playmate to race with even if you are on opposite sides of the fence.
Sometime we may invite her over to play but for now we see each other on walks and through the fence.
We just love reading about all your outdoor activities. Congratulations on the tracking test success and the FastCAT invitations. But I must say, I think racing down the fence with one’s girl looks the most fun of all.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
Racing with my girlfriend is really a lot of fun. I stand in the window and look outside for her and when she comes out I demand that Mom lets me out to play.
Nelson YAY for your accomplishments.
The training helps you keep up with that gorgeous Girl Next door and vice a versa. I’m impressed at how well you keep up with her lovely long legs.
Hugs Cecilia
I’m very muscular and strong. Olivia is a lot faster than me but she is built like a runner. I think because my girl is so big, she isn’t as fast.
Congratulations. Your girlfriend has gotten really big. Can you handle her.
No problem for me. Mom is afraid of when she goes into heat since I am not neutered. She tells me it will be a tough couple of weeks for me and her.
WOW!!! Not even 2 years old and you are beating your star sister. MAybe this is YOUR sport?? Super photos! Just Super!
Well, I am more methodical than she is which is good in tracking. She also had some big distractions on her field as they were removing porta potties but still, she chose to go wandering.
It is so much fun to have friends to play with!!! And, congratulations on your tracking title.
Thank you, but that was a certification test. Now I have to get into a real test.
We are happy have a girlfriend who helps with your training!
xoxo,
Rosy and Sunny
She makes running practice lots of fun.
Way To Go Nelson!! I’m sorry Olivia didn’t get her certification, but I’m sure she will next time. At least she was invited to the invitational!
I’m glad you run the fence line with your girlfriend! I know she must really enjoy having other pups to run with! Ducky used to run the fence line with our neighbor’s Shih Tzu…they were good buddies.
She likes having friends right next door. It gets boring playing with human kids all the time I think.
awe good to see happy dogs being active! They are so adorable, glad Madison is better

We are a pretty active family all the time π
WOW, congratulations Nelson and congratulations to your sisters for the nice invite too. Y’all are rocking everything!
We are having a pretty good year.
Oh congratulations to Nelson ~ and to your sisters too ~ No matter what ~ you are all gorgeous and sweet doggies and great photos too! Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love your days,

Thank you. We have had a good sports year.
Good work Nelson! I’m sure Olivia will get the hang of it soon, also.
It looks like all of you have such fun running and racing, especially with your girlfriend, I do hope you get an invitation for the FastCat in Florida again next year and can go there.
Olivia has been certified before, but it ran out before she could pass a test. Mom will take her again in a few weeks.
Congrats on obtaining this certification! We knew you were ‘pawsome’ and this just underscores it. Well done.
Now to get a test spot and pass the test for my title. We shall see how that all goes.
