Why do I love walking and teaching so much? Walking is something I’ve been doing forever, and since Nelson arrived, I’ve been teaching him some walking manners. Well, attempting to teach him. He is not always up for following my advice. We do walk together almost always, because he is big and strong and I am small but not as strong as my sisters. It is easier for Mom to walk the two of us together and I like to walk with a buddy too.
Like Bailie, this is the first year since I turned one that I am not running with Mom. With my limp issue, the vet said I may want to stick to walking instead. I do run FastCAT and I run in the yard, but “running” a few miles is hard on joints. Walking is a great exercise because it isn’t so hard on the body, yet it keeps a girl fit and burns calories so I can keep eating my treats.
Walking and teaching with Nelson has really been fun and it really builds the bond between us. He learns from me better than from Mom I think. If I do it, he will do it too. Even though I am a lot smaller than he is, he respects me, and we have a lot of fun.
Sometimes I walk alone with Mom which I like. We can walk at our own pace without the crazy guy needing to pee on everything. She lets me chase squirrels up trees, and other fun stuff like that.
The only time I don’t really like walking is when it is really hot outside. Being extra short means I get a ton of heat from the ground hitting my belly. Because of this I heat up faster than my siblings. Mom is always careful about taking me out when it is really hot out.
Dog friends are not so much my thing, but I love people. I have a lot of favorite folks in our neighborhood and getting to see them when I am out walking always makes me extra happy. Most of the time my tail starts to wag a lot, and then I stand on my two back paws to greet my human friends. It’s fun to hear them tell me how adorable I am.
I like to have my picture taken. When Mom takes me for a walk with just the two of us, we sometimes take more photos, and that is really fun. Modeling uses a lot of skills like staying put, listening to direction, etc.Β Besides that, I really love to have my own alone time with Mom once and a while.
My GBGV Life is happy, so weβre joining Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday!
I like meeting peeps on my walks better too, Madison, and if there’s dog that I don’t know, I have twirling and lunging leash issues, which mom doesn’t like at all.
Most of the time we ignore other dogs. Our two best friends that we saw on walks a lot both passed away this year and we miss seeing them but we still greet their people because we like them too.
(Zachary) I used to “run” with our mom when she did actually run/walk. Now we just walk… We really love to get out early in the morning when there are very few people and dogs out. We have a group of people that we frequently walk with, who always fuss over both me and Mia.
Walking with a group of humans would be fun, but we usually just walk with our mom and sometimes with a human friend who has a dog.
How awesome. We did not realize the size difference between you and your brother. Its awesome that you have each other and that Nelson listens to you!! We love our walks too – and mom always credits Emma to making sure that we had walking as a part of our daily routine. Happy walking! your friends Lilly and Chester
Emma was an avid walker until the end which came to soon, just like your brother. Walking is so healthy and easy to do. If you have it in your routine, it becomes addictive, and if you don’t walk, even a short walk, you feel off all day. Happy walking to you all too.
That first picture makes my heart smile. They are looking at you with such love.Β
We do a lot of things in twos around here as it is more manageable. Nelson and I make a good team. Nelson and Olivia are the sports team types. Nelson and Bailie are hunting buddies. It works well for us all.
Madison you are such a petite little GBGV.
As for boys learning…I think it takes them a tad longer to catch on because they have so many other adventures on their minds.
Happy Walking
Cecilia
Nelson is pretty good for a young guy and we are thankful for that. He can be pretty crazy, but he does know right from wrong which is huge and he also knows when he has to buckle down and work.
Madison, You sure look small next to your little brother! I’m glad you are sharing your walking experience with him and with us! You ARE a cutie (so is Nelson, but don’t tell him – it might go to his head and make him even taller!
Mom always calls me her living stuffed dog because I am so small, cute, and sweet. Nelson is sweet too, but he is really big and strong so he has to be careful he doesn’t knock people over.
I love going on walks with you and mom and you’re an excellent poser. Beautiful too.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday.
Scritches all around and a hug to mom. β₯
Thank you. We all are used to the photos so we know what to do and how to do it. Even Nelson doesn’t mind usually.
What a good walker, and great example for your little brother. We forget sometimes, how big Nelson is compared to your more petite frame.

Rosy & Sunny
He is almost twice my size. I’m about 30 lbs and he is about 50 lbs. Still, he is nice and doesn’t try to crush me to death or anything, LOL!
I’m sure you are the perfect partner for Nelson, I’m glad you get to go with him and then sometimes just with your mom. It’s a great arrangement.
Mom tries to have a routine that we follow most of the time but she also mixes things up once or twice a week so we don’t get too set in one way of doing things. Even meal time gets pushed out once or twice a week.
Your walks do sound like lots of fun and I’m glad you were so nice in showing Nelson how the walk things work.
He is a work in progress, but he just enjoys having his fun times. He is still a young guy.
You’re such a good teacher for a little sister. π Not everyone is as good as you.
I love to be the boss, so teaching is a good job for me.
