Today I am baking pumpkin bones! Pumpkin spice is all the rage for humans, but what about us pups? We enjoy some pumpkin spice as well. Let’s take a few simple ingredients and create treats that will make your dogs go batty! All you need is pure pumpkin, eggs, powdered milk, cinnamon, and whole wheat flour.
Start the process by mixing the ingredients together in a bowl. The dough is pretty thick, so you may need to add a bit of water. Eventually, ditch the spoon and finish mixing with your bare paws. (I love this because you can lick your paws when you are done.)
Once mixed, roll out the dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness. Use your favorite bone cookie cutter to cut out the pumpkin bones. Next time I might use a smaller cookie cutter, but it really depends on how big you want your cookies.
Before you get too many of the cookies on the cookie sheet, make sure and sample the dough. I like to sample a big piece to be absolutely sure it tastes alright.
Once the cookies are all cut out and placed on the baking sheet, they can be popped into the oven.
After they are completely baked, let the pumpkin bones cool, and then place them in a festive Halloweeny bowl.
They look good but taste Grand! I highly recommend these for all pups. The small amount of cinnamon makes the spice. I’m sure you are indulging in pumpkin spice, why not let your pup enjoy some too? Grab the recipe here.

Thank you. Baking is a wonderful self rewarding behavior.
Yes, baking sure is! We like it simple as well. Why do you use powdered milk?
Mom has never drank milk, and now she doesn’t do dairy, so rather than wasting milk, powdered works well.
If I have time, I may bake up a batch to have for trick-or-treat, sometimes people bring their dogs with them. The rest can go to all my grand-dogs.
That’s a great idea. They are simple and don’t take much time at all to make.
Oh boy…you had me at pumpkin!
