Team Orange is in their happy place. Mom and I are always so happy when we get to play sniffing games together. It is our favorite thing to do. I love to sniff more than anything else, and Mom loves to be at my side. A special thank you to the best photographer ever, Caprise Adams, for capturing these still photos of our team. We have purchased them for our personal use.
This photo is from the archery range. I was out by the targets when I caught a whiff of odor and headed back to the source.
And my nose doesn’t lie, here is the odor. If my teammate isn’t fast enough, my paw will get involved! There is really no doubt when I find odor. I have my ways of showing Mom and she can’t miss it.
The most fun search of the day was the large amphitheater search, it was all in play. Mom and I had a wonderful time searching but it was not a good search for us. I think I may have been too fast to catch two of the hides we missed. Thankfully Mom and I both love running!
When I’m on odor, I don’t like to waste any time. Mom happily runs along with me. She even jumped over a couple of these benches during our search. I guess they were in her way. It may seem like a lot of benches to a human, but my nose only bothers with the ones where I notice odor which knocks out most of the benches.
The grassy area between the top benches and the woods was also in play. I was cruising the perimeter when I caught odor and made a quick u-turn. Don’t worry. Mom was able to also slow down and make the turn with me. Do you see something lying in the grass? I smelled it and then saw it.
Oh yes, this old can has odor in it. I am one hundred percent sure of it!
My teammate, aka Mom, seemed to question what my nose and I were telling her. She is looking at me like, “are you sure?” I’m looking at her like hey stupid, call “alert” and pay me. Humans like to think and that is BAD in nose work. I have the nose and I know where the odor is, so simply trust me. She usually does, but I think she was double checking.
Of course, we heard a “yes”, and I got my snacks for all my effort. Can you tell I really like getting paid, and I think you can see my Mom’s smile too. This is truly our happy place! This was one video we really wanted to see, but of course, our “bad” GoPro, ran out of battery power shortly after we started. Such a bummer, but we have the still photos at least.
Mom and I are both looking forward to lots of practicing this winter and coming out stronger than ever in the spring! Our happy place shows as we are told at all our trials by multiple people how fun we are to watch and that also makes us happy.

We run together most mornings which keeps us in shape so she can run after me when I am doing my nose work. Both of us enjoy fast.
we we are sure not onoy that old can has interesting smells… and such a place is sure the all you can eat buffet of smels :o)
Old leaves have the best smells and we know exactly which squirrels and rabbits were in our yard when we were in the house by sniffing the leaves.
