Welcome to day one of my birthday week! I was all ears and an adorable little guy. Now I’ve grown into my ears and am quite a handsome fellow. To start off my week, I looked back and selected some of my favorite puppy photos from my first few months of life. Can you believe I will be two in a few days, January 18th to be exact? Mom and I talked about it and I’m ready to be the big two year old guy at our house.
Here we go! This is Mr. Nelson as Mom likes to call me, right after I was born. My puppy litter name was Banner and I have the red/white/blue ribbon. My fancy name is Ethos Let’s Go Crazy SWA SEE SCE SCM SEM RATO DCAT TKN CGC NW2 L1C L1V L3-I L3-E My litter is a music litter and Mom chose a Prince song, Let’s Go Crazy, to be my name since Prince is from our area and his full name was Prince Rogers Nelson.
There were eleven of us in my litter. Here is a shot of all of us after the last one was born. We all made quite a pile of puppies! Even as a new born, I was a smart guy, finding a spot in between everyone to help keep me warm.
Mom tried really hard to not get a puppy, but she just couldn’t resist. She decided it was time to get a man in the house, and she chose me. How would I get from Missouri to Minnesota? My breeder suggested using FedEx. The lady was real nice but she said it would not be a good idea to ship a little fellow via FedEx. I ended up getting a ride with my breeder to meet Mom in Iowa.
Lots of people tell me I’m a confident guy, and I think I am. This photo of me before I moved to Minnesota shows me confidently trotting across the yard. Being confident comes easy for me because I trust myself.
It seems that I was a bit chubby as a youngster. Food has been a love of mine from day one. This is a shot of me in one of my food comas. I think I polished off whatever my ten other siblings didn’t eat and then crashed.
Now I have a few photos of me right after I moved to Minnesota. In case you didn’t know, I’m really all ears! No wonder I tripped and fell over them a lot as a young sprout.
My sisters and Mom tell me I’m a crazy guy. I am not sure I agree with that, but this photo may be evidence for their case!
The family put me to work as a gardener right off the bat. Aren’t there rules about puppy labor? Actually, I enjoy picking up sticks around the yard, always have really. My goodness, look at my huge paws. Good thing I grew into them as they look like clown shoes!
Hope you enjoyed some of my favorite early puppy photos. Being handsome and all ears seems to be working out well for me my first almost two years! Stay tuned next week for more about me. I will post updates about Madison now and then as well.
I’m joining my friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.

Your were the most adorable puppy and you’ve grown into such a handsome boy, Nelson, and that is quite the fancy and very long name that you have!
Thank you. I have to make a good impression at our house so Mom knows having a boy around is a good thing.
Nelson happy day one of your birthday week. Yes you were all ears and as you grew we learned that you also had a very very good nose. Many hugs
Please share with Madison
Dear Madison,
I am so very sorry to read about your emergency surgery. I know it was a very scary few hours. I send you
healing hugs. Your Mom was most observant and quick acting. Thankful for you wonderful vets too.
Hugs Cecilia
We are all watching over Madison. I think she will be fine because she is a strong girl, but Mom worries a lot. I did grow into my ears and paws, and I really love my sports. Olivia have a lot in common there.
Nelson, you are exactly one week older than me. What do you think about this “no longer a puppy” business. I’m not sure I will go along with Gail’s idea that at two years old one is supposed to be calmer and better behaved…
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
I have a sports friend that is exactly one week older than me, he is a Dalmatian. Good boys were born in January 2022! Mom hears all the time about boys not growing up, not having a brain, but honestly, I have always been really well behaved and focused. Maybe her next boy will be a hot mess?
WOW! Nelson!! how could you be almost TWO!! Except with all the titles after your name, it seems you should be at least 5!! You have done an amazing performance job in a VERY short time!!! Olivia ,Watch out!!!
Olivia told me when you are one you earn the most titles and now at higher levels of everything there will be fewer. I guess she is right but I have lots of titles to get on my list when I am two.
You really were a super cute pup Nelson and now you’re all grown up and handsome!
Thank you. I think I turned out pretty well.
I love all these pictures but especially the crazy picture.
I fit in well with my crazy sisters.
Yes, Nelson, you have grown into those paws and ears!
It’s crazy how big my paws looked and my long ears!
You just keep getting cuter and cuter Nelson!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Awww, thank you.
I love the photos Nelson – gosh you were an adorable puppy. Now you are one handsome fella! Looking forward to celebrating your birthday week!
Mom says I was a cute, chunky monkey!
Nelson, you were such a cutie pie and…..you still are! Hope you’re taking good care of Madison. ♥♥♥
Thank you. We are not allowed to interact with her for a while. Mom says she is too fragile right now, but we can be near her when she snoozes in her kennel.
You were a most precious pup, and look at you now!
Now I’m a handsome young man according to my mom.
Eleven! Your poor Mum. You did make a very cute pup tho, Nelson.
All ears and all adorable.
Awww, thank you.
