The other day, Mom and I took a spring walk in February along Nine Mile Creek. Back in November, Madison and Mom walked there for the first time. This time we went the other direction to see what we could find. I’m game for anything with Mom and it got her to stop driving me around for a while. I can’t stand riding in the car. It makes my head furs stand on end, LOL!
One reason we stopped here is that we thought it would not be too muddy and we were right. We have so much mud at home, we don’t want anymore, and not in the car! The creek is way down below the road, so we passed the sign and headed down the hill on the trail.
Whoops, SQUIRREL! I could not focus as I find squirrels more interesting than modeling. Notice all the snow/ice on the creek behind me? Some places it is all water and others it is still partially frozen because of the shade.
They have some benches along the bank of the creek. I prefer to stand on them rather than sit. We didn’t see many people on our walk, so it didn’t bother anyone that I was on the bench.
There are many trails back up the hill to different neighborhoods. This one is rather funny. It doesn’t look like a really good one, but at least it is a natural trail.
In some spots there are small areas of rapids. While the creek isn’t very full, but at least there is enough water to keep things flowing along. They are doing a lot of work on the trees along the creek. This branch must have escaped during the work.
We did find a few mud spots along the trail and one spot actually was icy, but for the most part, the trail was hard as a rock. Being down low and with lots of shade, the area stays pretty cool.
Our walk was only about forty minutes. We will come back again some day and go further. It is a nice, quiet, and pretty place to go walking.

What a pretty walk and we love the log steps in the woods. We have those at Sleeping Giant here and they’re always fun to climb.
Good thing you didn’t mention sleeping giant before my walk or I might have been afraid to climb those steps. It is a nice place to walk.
that was a great walk… we love the 9 mile walk… maybe there will be a movie once about that area? like 8 miles and 700 miles westwards?
700 hundred miles westward would be a very long walk! We don’t know that movie.
BOL BOL Squirrels do require lots of watching…they are sneaky.
I am amazed at the lack of snow in Minnesota. WOW I hope mother nature and old man winter don’t decide to deliver winter in spring.

We are happy to have winter whenever they can bring it, but we don’t expect to have one this year and that is so sad. We can’t even play in our yard now because it is so wet and muddy, a huge mess!
The hike looks very pretty especially that there was no mud.
Mom is not a fan of mud for some reason, so she finds places where we can walk and stay fairly clean.
That is a terrific place for a walk and yes, that ice and snow in the creek sure looks cold!
It was nice to see some signs of winter down there.
What a lovely break from being indoors.
It was a nice walk, but we still miss the cold and snow like we usually have.

So do I. Mom walks me alone and that is our special time together plus we both love walking.

We are getting some colder weather, but still warm for this time of year and no snow in sight. It is a sad bummer.
It looks like a wonderful spot for a meander. You’re right, your head furs stand right on end, car rides are tough so I’m glad you got to get out for a while.
The car is a terrible thing but Mom says it is a necessity as we simply can’t walk 20+ miles in the same amount of time we can drive, even in traffic.
