Would you like five reasons to walk your dog this weekend? I hope so, because that is what we have for you today. Actually, there are probably a million plus reasons, but we chose our favorite five for this post today.
Reason Number One
Did you know walking and being out in nature without technology, just you and your dog clears your brain? Have you ever noticed how many great ideas you get when out walking? Brains need quiet time, down time to be creative. If you disconnect and go for a walk, your brain will explode with thoughts because of the freedom you give it. Most of our blog post ideas come to us on our walks.
Reason Number Two
Try an early morning walk. If you plan your walks first thing in the morning, there will be no excuses about being to busy, or something suddenly came up. All you need to do is get your behind out of bed and out the door. Being outside in the fresh air, peace and quiet, and getting your exercise in will get your day off to a perfect start. You will feel better for it all day long.
Reason Number Three
Fresh air is healthy, for both pups and people. When you are outside exercising, you breath deeper and you are breathing in the fresh clean air. it gets rid of all the old air and germs that are in your system. It actually improves the immune system in your body.
Reason Number Four
Walking can become a healthy habit. If you walk regularly at the same time, it will become second nature. Just as waking up and getting dressed is part of a morning routine, waking up and walking will become a routine. There is no need for a gym, simply step out your door and start walking. Not only will it become your habit, it will be your dogs habit too. Healthy habits are a good thing!
Reason Number Five
Our last good reason to walk your dog this weekend is to wear your pup out. You too may enjoy a nap on the weekend, but your pup will feel so good after some fresh air, exercise, breakfast, and bonding time with you! A nice long nap will be in the cards. As many humans say, “A tired dog is a good dog.” Happy Friday!
We’re joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.

Those are all great reasons to go for a walk with your furry bestest friend and as long as it’s not raining, we will be out there!
We have to go rain or shine, cold or hot, 365 days a year, but once we are out in the rain, it is all fine. Hopefully there won’t be any rain for a while as Mom would have a tough time drying off four of us with one arm.
that are very good reasons … we love all 5… happy walking and happy weekend…
Try to have fun and stay out of trouble, boys!
Excellent post. We agree with all of it!! I think we told you about our streak. We have been walking at least 30 minutes every day since Thanksgiving. Now, mom gets all worked up because we did miss a day so she says it isn’t a streak anymore — but it was totally out of her control because she was sick and it was snowing! One day ain’t going to stop me from keeping it up! I love the streak. She even has a check list so she marks off the day everyday. She loves that part! So in addition to all of your great reasons, add mom’s satisfaction with checking off a list! Have a great day and enjoy your walks! your friend Chester
So happy for you two finding your groove. It is a habit now and you will both be upset when you don’t get to walk but some days it is hard. We walk no matter what, but sometimes just short walks because of time. Happy walking this weekend!
Clover and I do a 2 mile walk in Central Park every Saturday and Sunday morning. During the week she does a mile walk a day.
That is so awesome! It is great for both of you.
I 500% agree with all the reasons…a walk does wonders for the mind and soul.
Loved all the photos too
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you. Mom is always unhappy when we have to take short walks because of early appointments, but we still get out there.
Those are all very good reasons and I hope you enjoy those walks!
We all do. Walking is loved at this house and we get our two a day every day.
I am pleased to say you are totally preaching to the converted here!
And we love seeing photos of you guys out walking.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
Walking is that best way to start our day every day but we love it anytime we can go.
We completely agree with all those reasons, and a few more! We walk almost everyday – though, on rainy days we occasionally skip, but here in California we get rain only in the winter. Our mom has done the morning dogwalk with several generations of dogs.
Mom has been walking every morning with her dog(s) since she got her first dog in 1994. We walk in all weather and we always get up early enough for even short walks if Mom has to go somewhere early. It makes her cranky if she doesn’t walk in the morning. Luckily that is only a few days a year at most.
Envy your stamina! yes, a tired dog is a good dog resonates!
We all sleep a lot but we walk and play a lot. Nelson is very busy all day and after dinner his batteries are almost empty.
What great reasons to take us for walks!!!
Have a pawsome weekend!
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
Walks are always fun and we are lucky to get two every day.
We can think of 60 reasons to take a walk this weekend…that’s going to be how warm it is and that’ll be nice. Enjoy your weekend.
We are not happy about the warm weather, but winter was so lousy, it really doesn’t matter. Mom is happy it is warmer so she doesn’t have to wear a heavy coat as it hurts her broken collar bone.
I have lots of reasons to take Becca and her dog on a walk every Sunday when I’m over there, and my favorite is because it’s just what we do.
That’s the best reason there is and I bet she loves it too!
