I’m thankful for Waterloo in 2022! May 1st, 2022, Mom, Madison, and Olivia drove to Waterloo, Iowa to meet me and bring me to my new home. My breeder drove up there with me from Missouri for the “hand off.” Now two years later, I’m feeling like such a lucky guy with a really great life!
Mom was in Shawano, Wisconsin for Olivia’s Elite Nose Work Trial on April 30th. They drove four hours home that night and got up early on May 1st to drive three and a half hours to Iowa to pick me up. Once Mom decided she wanted this guy puppy named, Banner, she wanted to get me as soon as possible.
We met at a parking lot in Waterloo. Mom got to hold me, but I was pretty attached to my breeder. I wasn’t very interested in my new Mom who called me Nelson all the time. Madison and Olivia had zero interest in meeting me. My thinking was that I should go back to my dog parents in Missouri and continue my life as Banner. My new mom seemed to not mind my not being gung ho to go home with her, so I would end up going to Minnesota.
I howled and carried on the entire three and a half hour drive to my new home, and I refused to go to the bathroom too. My new mom didn’t give up, but my new sisters were a bit frustrated with me. When we arrived at my new home, I got to go out into the yard. Mom took this shot of me sitting in the grass.
Madison and Olivia started to get pretty curious about me. Once we got inside, they tried to play with me and they gave me a really good sniffover.
Bailie on the other paw was not pleased about me. Now I know it is because she doesn’t like puppies for some reason. Now we have so much fun together, but the first year or so, she avoided me for the most part. Luckily, I don’t give up and she has learned that I’m actually a good addition to the family. Cat bro Bert wasn’t really sure about me either, but his curiosity would get him over his uncertainty.
Two years later, Ethos Let’s Go Crazy, aka Nelson is one lucky fellow. I have so many dog friends. Girls are all around me, and I love girls. My mom loves me to death and gives me everything a guy could need. I have lots of sports, and most of all, I have a super fun life! Mom says I’m such a good boy, who works hard and never had that “boy brain” everyone warned her about. She has no regrets about adopting me. Happy Gotcha Day to me!

Happy Gotcha Day, Nelson! You have the best home with the best mom and best sisters and best life!
I think I’m a pretty lucky guy. Mom says I’m a bit spoiled, but she doesn’t mind.
Happy second Gotcha Day, sweety boy. We’re so glad your Mom adopted you. You’ve been a wonderful addition!
She is happy she has me and so are my sisters. I, myself, enjoy being surrounded by girls.
Happy Gotcha Day, Nelson! Look at those puppy paws – you did grow into them!
I still have really big paws, but they look like the right size now.
I’m so glad she adopted you. I loved watching you grow up with all the girls.
I’m glad too. In the last two years I’ve traveled all over creation, and gotten to do so many fun things.
I’m so happy for you, Banner Nelson! You are one very lucky dog!!!
Can you believe Mom decided not to adopt me but then she couldn’t stop thinking about me and the Let’s Go Crazy song from Prince kept playing on the radio whenever she was driving. Finally she decided it was destiny for us to be together and she was right.
Oh Nelson ~ great photos of you and what facial expressions you had ~ now you look happy ~ You are a treasure and your home is the best ~ hugs,

I’m pretty happy with living here and I am glad Mom decided to adopt me.
I wish you many happy returns of your Gotcha Day, Nelson! It was a “banner” day when you got to meet your mom, although you didn’t know it yet.
I was not at all sure about her and my new sisters weren’t very welcoming at first but I made friends with everyone quickly. Mom fell in love with me after I stopped screaming in the car and I realized it would all work out great.
