We discovered the Yahara River during our stay in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Our road trip took us to Stoughton on Friday to do some FastCAT in the afternoon. After running our FastCAT, we headed to our hotel and looked for a place to take some walks.
The Yahara River is where we ended up. It was not far from the hotel, and there was a nice shady place to park the car. With Mom’s collarbone issue, she can only walk me and Nelson together and then Olivia on her own. Olivia had a shorter walk earlier, so it was our turn. Mom parked the car and we headed out on this trail, starting with the bridge over the water.
Friday, the sun was out and it was in the seventies, so we were happy to see some shade on the trail. There are a lot of fancy homes along the water in the town of Stoughton from what we could see.
We also saw this little fairy village next to this tree on the side of the trail. It reminds me of the “fairy” things we see on walks by Gramma’s house.
Olivia was waiting in the car, so we didn’t want to walk for too long. The trail is pretty long but we only did a shorter section of it. It is well cared for, and even has some fancy dog waste stations. There are also a lot of signs about things you see along the walkway. Right after Mom took this photo, two squirrels raced by us. Thank dog, she had just picked up our leashes or we may have taken off and that would have been a mess!
Here is one more look at the Yahara River from a little lookout area they have made. If we come back to Stoughton some day, we would love to take a longer walk on this trail. It was fun to get out in nature for a walk before heading to the hotel for dinner and hanging out.

I’m pretty good about being calm, but Nelson loses his mind and lunges and howls really loud. If Mom hadn’t been holding our leashes, he for sure would have been gone!

It was super green, and lots of places were standing water still from all the recent rain.
