Today I’m remembering my birthday parties of the past. Most of them are good memories. Many of them have siblings who are no longer with us, but their memory makes me happy because we had time together in my life.
Being one was rather fun with Katie and Emma. For some reason, Mom had us celebrate in the house. Being in June, my parties and the mess, are usually outside. How funny I was all decked out in pink! It was before Mom decided on our team colors I guess. Katie never did sports, so she never had a color.
At two what did we do? We went outside, but not at the table. I think we chose the grass and a picnic style party for Katie. She was not able to sit in a chair at the table.
Three was a tragic day for my birthday. This is my last photo of me with my big sister Katie. That morning when we got up, Katie was no longer able to stand up. She passed away on my birthday, but she always loved me and we wanted a last photo together. Mom misses Katie so much still, but she will never have another Kuvasz because of the shedding. Katie taught me a lot my first almost three years and was a big influence on me.
Score at four – we started partying at the table on the deck. This was Miss Manner’s Madison’s first birthday party with our family. She was ten months old and already a pro at attending a party.
When I turned five, things came alive! I had a huge cake! Boy, I wish I still had some of that cake right now! it was even purple. Madison picked it out for me when she went birthday shopping with Mom. Our first Furballz is in that red gift bag. Madison picked it out for me. This was the last party Emma attended, sadly. We had no idea she would be leaving us just a four months later.
Antics came with turning six as we welcomed crazy Olivia. She was already a big paw full at just three months old. It is a lot of work training in new siblings but we manage I guess since I have now got three siblings that were puppies at our house.
Lucky seven was fairly civilized. As you can see, I sure did enjoy my birthday treat. I think we had cookies that year.
Turning eight was pretty great. All the attention is focused on me, the birthday hound, as it should be. Finally my sisters had some respect for their older sister.
Nine was quite fine with the addition of a boy, Nelson, at our table. He was pretty young and refused to wear his party hat. The guy figured it all out in a pretty short time but for my birthday, he wanted to be a rebel.
The perfect ten party was Grand. We had blueberry cake with purple frosting. Everyone was old enough to behave like civilized hounds unlike some parties of the past. With four of us, someone is always doing something silly, but parties are supposed to be fun.
Pawty all the time is the motto at our house and we do our best to stick to it. The four of us are really just clowns in fur coats and we so love to have fun all the time. I’m excited for turning eleven. Who knows what my siblings have in mind for nonsense this year?
We’re joining our friends at Living Laughing and Barking in Our Backyard for their Nature Friday blog hop.

So many wonderful memories and sad ones too for you, Bailie. You sure did have the bestest pawties and I like your motto to pawty all the time!
We are a wild and crazy pack and parties are just a small part of our silly fun times.
Y’all always do have the best parties ever and are such terrific party planners!
We all love our parties as they are fun and the treats are usually super yummy!
Oh dear me I was sorry to read that Katie passed on your birthday…in the same breath I’m happy you have so many photos of her with you all. Katie paved the way to Mom’s heart that lead her to all of you.
What fun bdays. I love the party bone too
Hugs Cecilia
Trine was mom’s first dog, a lab/newfie mix. She was ten when Mom got Katie. That is when Mom realized she wanted more than one dog. Katie was an only dog for a couple years after Trine passed away but then Emma came into the family. Mom loves her doggies 🙂
I don’t know why but I started to cry looking at Katie and Emma.you all love each other so much. Happy almost birthday.
Mom misses them very much and she still misses Trine who was her first dog and lived with Katie for a year or two before passing away. We all have a special relationship of our own with our mom and our own spot in her heart.
What lovely party memories – a couple very bittersweet. Our mom always says every day with our dogs is a gift.
So is every day with our humans 🙂 Life can always change in the blink of an eye.
We loved seeing your pawties through the years Bailie! As a girl of two packs myself, I know how nice it is to look back on all the fun through the years.
xoxo,
Rosy
You do understand. It is sad those ones are no longer with us, but we now have new family members to fill our hearts. No one is ever forgotten.
What a lovely post, looking back at all those birthday parties with siblings past and present. We’re sure your eleventh will be a a day to remember too.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
I sure hope so!
I’m so glad you shared your birthday reruns with us!!! What a trip!!
I think our parties are always a trip, and they sure have evolved too.
Happy Barkday Bailie !
Thank you.
I very much enjoyed your walk through past parties and hope this next one is just as great.
I sure hope it will be fun. You never know what will happen at our parties, some of my siblings are a bit wild.
You guys definitely know how to ‘paw-ty.’ Great look at all the past celebrations.
Mom’s been having birthday parties for dogs since she was a little girl 🙂

My day is off to a scary start with lots of rain and storms. It is scary as I am afraid of thunder. It will clear up in a bit and then I can feel better.
what a wonderful trip down memory lane! I loved all the photos.
We always love looking back and remembering too.
