Prost! It’s Oktoberfest time! Did you know over half of Oktoberfest is actually in September? This year it started on September 21st and goes through October 6th. I’m always up for some good food and something to drink, so I decided to celebrate. In Bavaria, the guys wear Lederhosen, but I’m not going to wear something like that. A hat will do for me.
Rather than drinking German beer, I filled my Bierstein with yummy Bowser Beer instead. Dogs shouldn’t be drinking human beer is what I am told. After the Vikings big win I was truly up for some celebrating.
Mom taught me the song to sing when at the real Oktoberfest in Bavaria. I tried my best to howl it out. It sounded better after polishing off some of my Bowser Beer.
“Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Oans, zwoa, drei, Gsuffa!”
After my singing, I was escorted away by my sisters to sleep it all off in the comfort of our home. Maybe I should get over to Germany for this event next year? Mom doesn’t want to go, but I bet I could do it on my own???

Love your hat and your song was wonderful, Nelson!
Thank you. Mom teaches us German sometimes.
we saw the opening… and we are glad to be not there…the people acted like crazy monkeys…
We guys would fit right in, LOL! Mom never went during Oktoberfest but she visited the places in the off season.
We enjoyed it “once upon a once” … (very young, what they call one’s “salad days”) … nothing quite like those big, rowdy beer halls … so yes, sleeping it off after is a very good idea. And oh, love the hat.
I love a good time, so it might be fun for me, but no Lederhosen, please. Hats are fine.
Nelson I 100% support this decision , “Lederhosen, but I’m not going to wear something like that”. They look very uncomfortable and besides a man in a Hat is quite handsome! I like yours too
Hugs Cecilia
I don’t mind the hat at all. I wonder if I showed up there if I could get a bowl for my beer? It would be easier to drink that way.
Once upon a time….many, many moons ago, I was actually in Germany during this celebration. I was just a teenager then, so my cousin an I played miniature golf, while our parents enjoyed the celebration. I had forgotten about that!
I love this post. Great pictures.
Thank you, or I mean Danke.
Nelson, too funny!! Adore these photos! Your sisters were very wise and kind to escort you to your bed! What a lusty voice that beer gave you!
I’m a party guy at heart, always love a good time.
And you do indeed look cheerful and then cozy – 1,2,3,4!
Drink up!
Such a fun post and you sure were ready to party!!!
You know we are a party kind of family.
That is quite the hat ~ of course ~ you look adorable ~ great photos ~ hugs,
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Danke. Mom has some German things from when she lived over there.
I love Octoberfest very much. The last fun one I attended was a yacht club in the bay area. A fun celebration. I’ll come and sing with you. What a fun post.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥
Mom isn’t a fan of crowds and she isn’t keen on Bavaria as the people there were not very friendly to her but I think it would be fun to visit there. I’ll call this practice in case I ever make it over to Germany.
Boy did your Vikings do good this weekend, you definitely deserved to do some celebrating!

I waited to celebrate until after the game. They are on fire, but we are all worried that they will fall apart like they always do. Hopefully not, but they are beating up some good teams so far!
What a Grand hat! We know that all BGV’s have wonderful singing voices – you don’t have to go anywhere; you can celebrate just fine at home.
My singing can be heard for miles right from my house. I have a super loud deep voice. Mom says it is a bit like a fog horn, whatever that is.
Oh our goodness! We love this post! We think we can hear you singing all the way over here!! Keep it up! your friend Chester
You should come join me for some Bowser Beer and cheer, Chester. I could use another guy around all these girls in my house.
You had quite a celebration there, and maybe your mom will change her mind and take you to Germany one day. It’s beautiful, and she knows because she’s been there.
She lived there for a total of almost twelve years, ten the last time and she has no plans to go back. It is a good country for being a dog, but Mom traveled the world most of her life and now she likes to travel in the car with us in the US only.
I’ve been to the Oktoberfest in Munich…so much fun. It’s so different here in the states. They had one near our house and it was nothing like the real thing. I don’t think a heavy metal band sets the stage very well. It’s certainly not authentic.
Americans try, but it is nothing like the real one in Germany. Actually, it shouldn’t be because it is Germany’s thing and something that is worth checking out if one happens to be there during that time.
