Happy Howloween 2024 to everyone from our hauntingly nice house to yours.
We are all set for the trick or treating. We probably won’t actually participate as it is scary out there in the dark with all the creepy kids roaming around. It’s best to stay safe in our own house and enjoy treats with Mom. Thankfully, we will all hang out in the back room with the lights out and the TV on. All the people coming to the door also tend to stress us out so we don’t want to deal with that. Mom doesn’t like having to be at the door for a few hours either.
I, Bailie, am going as Glinda, the good witch of the south from the wizard of oz. She may not have worn purple, but I see no reason why purple and black can’t work for a good witch.
Olivia, is going as a sports hound, surprise, surprise. She has her orange sweatshirt and timer and is ready to coach anyone who is interested in some nose work.
Nelson is going as a cowboy. The other day he saw his first horse up close and personal. Boy did he howl. I don’t have the heart to tell him he has to like horses to be a cowboy. He is headed to Oklahoma for nose work soon and thinks he will see cowboys there. While it isn’t really the wild west, they do have cowboys and lots of rodeos and things, so the boy isn’t totally off.

we love your costumes… and we want to be cowboys too…do you have a gun nelson? we want one , but the mama said we are dangerous enough without… sigh… happy howloween …
Mom wanted to get me a toy gun but they don’t really sell them anymore.
We handed out candy at the Trunk or Treat, so part of me wants to shut off the lights and ignore the world tonight. But we will be handing out candy until 7:00, or earlier if we run out of candy. I don’t want to disappoint the neighborhood kids, Halloween was always such a fun night when I was growing up.
Mom handed out candy for several years but as she had more dogs and we like to be loud it means we have to be crated or the kids need to skip our house. Mom ruled in our favor. We have to pack for our road trip anyway.

Your costumes are really cute! We hear you with turning the lights for the evening, it is a stressful evening.
It makes Mom nuts. She says for about ten minutes she wouldn’t mind but it is like two hours and that is too much.

The constant noise and ringing the bell makes Mom more nuts than us I think. She did it for quite a few years but finally gave up. We have to pack anyway as we are going on a small road trip tomorrow.

It was another hard day as she was the first to pick out her costume this year and then she was not here to wear it. We keep going and with time, lots of time, we will smile more and not cry as much.
