On this day in 2011, My GBGV Life made its debut. That is right. We are officially starting our fourteenth year of blogging! Mom says she can’t believe it has been that long. Emma’s first post was all about how it began. In the beginning the blog was random, a free version of WordPress, and just for fun with no real plan. Then Emma discovered BlogPaws and it grew and grew, along with social media.
Emma ran the blog for almost seven years. She was five when she started My GBGV Life. Emma was very special and had a talent for promoting the blog as well as our breed. She was a photo model for the blog and for Target. It was her wish that Madison would take over the helm if anything should happen to her. Sadly, she did pass away on October 30th, 2018, and Madison then took over the job of Chief Blogging Officer.
Madison was only two years old when she took over Emma’s blogging dynasty. She did an amazing job keeping everything running smoothly. Things changed with time and the loss of BlogPaws. We became a three GBGV family and eventually there were four of us. Reviews started to dwindle, and Madison still was able to run a good blog.
As you all know, Madison passed away very quickly, but she still had time to discuss the future of the blog with me, Bailie, and Olivia. Bailie has been with the blog the longest, eleven years! Olivia likes being featured in our sports posts, but she has no desire to run a blog. Madison and I decided that I would be the best choice to take over the reigns. I’m only two years old, but I am a hard and honest working hound. We discussed quitting blogging but we all enjoy it, and Mom says she loves having a record of all our lives. So, here I am, Nelson the guy, running a blog with a bunch of girls.
Looking back at the blog, there are a few interesting statistics.
- Including this post, there have been 3,303 posts. The blog went from random posts to posting seven days a week, to our current five day situation.
- In 2014, Emma had the logo created. It is really her on the logo, but generic enough that we can all be seen in it.
- Over the last thirteen years we have accumulated 134,385 comments!
- This is our third theme for the blog.
Starting out there was Emma and Katie, the Kuvasz, Cat Bro Bert, and Sophie. All four of those fur siblings have passed now. Hopefully for a long time the three of us, Olivia, Nelson, Bailie will be stars of Emma’s empire. We all feel like things are a bit boring with only three of us, but hopefully that will pass.
Most of all, we all would like to thank all of you for loving us and our blog, following us, and caring about us all so much. Some of you have been with us almost since day one and that is really special! Cheers to year fourteen, may it be a good one!

We love your blog and enjoy reading all of your adventures, which there are a LOT of! Happy Blogaversary!
Thank you. We are kind of shocked at how long it has been going but for now we want to keep it going to onward and upward to year fourteen.
wow happy blogoversary… amazing how long we are together in blogville… the one who said online connections last not long was so so wrong!!!!
It is amazing how many we have known for so long but others we used to know that have vanished from the blogging world and our lives too. We love our online and blogging friends and we think of you two every time we see Weims at our trials.
We do care, and we do love you all! We weren’t here in the beginning ~ but congratulate you on an extraordinary journey and thank you for continuing it and sharing it with all of us, even in the hard and sad times. You are the
Best of the Best!
Awwww, thank you. We decided we would not know what to do without the blog, so it is not time to quit. As long as we enjoy it, we will keep going.
Congratulations!!! Mom was thinking… she has been following you all for most of these 14 years!!! She loves you all. And, Dash, Lilly and I have been big fans. Always mom says — we get daily walks because of you all and your great advice (Thanks like a million times for that!!). Also we have great looking leashes and collars because of you all!!! AND we love staying in a Drury Inn when we can – BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS!!! So thanks for all the great stories, advice and pictures. Happy Anniversary!!! your friend Chester
Mom always thinks of you guys when we stay at a Drury. This last one had a no dogs on the elevators policy which we have never heard of before. Luckily we don’t mind walking the stairs. We are all happy to have good friends like you that we have met through blogging, gone through losses and happy times with. In some ways it is an odd world, but it is also a very nice one. Thank you for being such good friends and followers.
You’re the only blog I read. Please keep it going. I feel like I am part of the family. The uninvited guests.
LOL, uninvited guests! We are not ready to stop as we all enjoy it and it is just a part of our lives. Even when we take time off for tragedy like losing Madison we feel weird not posting or doing photos. Thank you for being a good friend for so long.
2011 WOW Happy 13th year. Emma got things up and running. Madison had a good foundation thanks to Emma.
Nelson will carry on the traditions they started and he has a great sibs and Mom to help his with photos.
Sending hugs
Cecilia
Nelson will do a good job since he has grown up on the blog. We just told him no posting about chasing girls and stuff like that but he loves sports so he will do fine. Thank you for being a friend.
Yay for 14 years! I am so glad Nelson is going to keep it going – I love reading all about your pawsome family Nelson – looking forward to the new posts. And thanks for the history of the blog – it makes my heart happy to think of meeting Emma and Madison in person and as part of the blog.
You knew both of our sweet sisters and it is very sad they are gone but they both would want us to continue and be happy. Thanks for being an in person and online friend. Maybe Olivia and Birdie can do some tracking practice in 2025. It’s time those two get their TD’s. You know more too having been a track layer.
Huge congratulations on entering your 14th year of blogging. Gail and I love following your exploits and we are sure that Nelson will carry on the tradition doing full justice to his predecessors.
I, Nobby, have not yet been blooming for three years, but for Gail it all started with my predecessor’s predecessor Hamish the Westie in July 2008. She says she has no idea where all that time went ..
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
Mom says it just kind of because part of our life like getting up in the morning and we love doing it, so we will keep on going. We love seeing your posts as well. It is so different where you live.
Happy Blogoversary gang! We’re glad you are still blogging, we’d be lost without your wonderful posts and we love keeping track of what y’all are up to.
Thank you. We love your blog too with all those kitties, there is always something going on.
Our mom started reading your blog after Emma’s book came out – the whole blog thing was something new. Now, there are so many blogs out there (of all sorts of subjects). We do love all of you and your sharing your life with all of us “uninvited guests”.
Happy blog-anniversary.
Mom and Emma started the blog to find out what a blog was and how to pair it with social media for Mom’s job in real estate. They had no idea it is a whole world of its own, but found that out very quickly. Thank you for being blog friends and everyone is always welcome at out blog.
Happy Blogaversary!!! I don’t comment much, but I love keeping up with your adventures. I cheer with you, and I cry with you. I sure do miss Madison, although I know it’s much worse for you all. Thank you for letting us be part of your pack each day!
Oh, and I started following you just before Katie passed. <3
Wow, so you have been following for a while now!
Awww, thank you. Commenting is not a requirement for anyone. We love writing about our lives and we are thrilled others are interested in our lives. It helps a tiny bit to get the word out about our breed too. We are happy you stop by to visit us whenever you do.
14 years! WOW! So, Nelson, did you mean three is boring and you will all just have to get used to it, or… a 4th is on the horizon? My mom says I am the last puppy for her, but she is not opposed to rehomed older dogs like she did with my older siblings -Jimmy and Olive
Mom loves puppies, so an older dog would not be an option for our family. We thought going from three to four would be easy, but it is a big jump for some reason. Friends who have four also agree three to four is a big change. Two to three isn’t so big. Right now our loss of Madison is far to great to take on another family member. We are adjusting to being the three of us for now. Oddly, Mom has gotten a puppy every three years starting with Bailie, and she had joked earlier this year that number five would be coming in 2025. We will see how things are going in a few months but probably will stick with three for now.
We enjoy your blog very much. And we have learned so much. Thank you for keeping the blog going. Hope and Dazy
Thank you. We love keeping it going and writing about our lives, so thank you for being online friends.
Cngratulations on your blogoversary ! Keep up the good work !
Thank you. We are now committed to another year for sure.
Happy Blogaversary!! We are so happy Emma decided to start blogging!1
xoxo,
Rosy and Sunny
It is amazing how an idea with no goals or expectations has turned into all the things it has been. Blogs constantly evolve which makes them interesting. So many of our original friends have simply disappeared which is sad. We are so glad we met you at BlogPaws once at least and we remain blogging friends.
Happy Blog Anniversary and may you all three have many years of blogging fun to come.
As long as we enjoy it and others enjoy it too, why not keep going?
Happy Blog-aversary ! Your blog was one of the first ones we began to follow and have loved seeing it morph into what it is today. Keep up the great work. We know that with Nelson at the helm, the blog is in great paws. Congratulation and continued success.
We have known your blog for a long time, but for some reason some blogs get lost when we don’t get the posts in our inbox but some, like yours we find again. You guys are fun and we love that the new guy is from Missouri since we are all from there. Thanks for being friends.
Happy Blog Anniversary ~ Madison you did great work and do hope blog continues as I love reading it and seeing the sweet doggie photos ~ lots of hugs to all ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
