We found some fun sites to see on the road to Oklahoma. You know we love to find the weird things but we also found some almost normal things to pose with. This photo is me and Nelson in our Wichita hotel room. Mom had taken the luggage to the car and we were horrified to see her at the car without us. Lucky for us, she remembered to come back in and get us for the rest of our drive home. The navigator told mom how we reacted to seeing her out there and they both found it funny. Nelson and I did not.
On the way down, our first “touristy” stop was in Leavenworth, Kansas. In the run down, old section of town, we found the Dr. Spock mural on the side of a building that housed a gaming place. We are not fans of Star Trek, but Spock is an icon, so we needed a photo with him. As you can see we got a photo of Mom getting a photo of us with him.
If you are curious what his little sign says, we have it blown up so you can read it. Ideal words in some geek language for a gaming place mural.
The next morning we started our day with the GreetingsTour mural from Raymore, Missouri. They make fun murals all over the country and we always check to see if we can find one where we are going. Oklahoma City had one we planned to visit, but with the flooding and devastation after the tornadoes, we decided to avoid that city this trip.
We made other stops that day which we will post tomorrow, but our next stop for this post was the Hard Rock Tulsa. It is hard to photograph because it is so tall. They have like six foot guitars all around the property but they are for specific musicians and we wanted a shot with the big kahuna.
Our last stop of the day was in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mom and the navigator love baking shows and if you watch those you may know Ree Dummond, aka the Pioneer Woman. Dogs are not allowed in The Pioneer Woman Mercantile but across the street by this abandoned building Nelson found this old truck to pose with. Mom and the navigator left us in the car and went in to do some shopping. After this stop, we drove to our hotel in Shawnee, OK, picked up food for the humans and settled in to relax for the night…not knowing about the impending storms that would disrupt our sleep. On the road to Oklahoma there is not a lot to see but we managed to find a few things and it was fun.

Your mom would NEVER leave you behind. Don’t worry! You guys always find the best stuffs! Love the Spock mural!
We don’t think she would ever leave us, but to see her with all our stuff at the car was a bit concerning. At least the navigator was with us so we were not completely alone.
oooh how great… this truck!! we love it… and we love the big guitar
The big guitar was playing music too.
You certainly get around. Have never been in any of those states but they sure look interesting..
They are not as interesting as some states but we always find fun things along the way.
We love having you share all those fun and great murals and places with us (all that we’ll never see!) … and we’re glad Mr Spock didn’t “beam you up” cause we’d have missed you!
We would not want to be beamed up, that would be scary. Even in states where there isn’t a lot going on, there are still things to find and we enjoy finding them.
OMDs I loved the pose of you two obviously looking very intently at mom. I bet you were sending here telepathic messages. I rea;lly liked reading Dr. Spock’s palm.
What a wonderful pose with the red truck
Hugs cecilia
We were really worried. She has never left us but at least we had out navigator if Mom didn’t come back. It was a scary moment but all ended well and Mom told us she would only leave us if she was dead and she isn’t planning on that happening.
Our mom must have radar or something to be able to find such neat photo ops! The guitar really speaks to us.
You would love all the 6 foot ones around the parking lot. There were way too many to start counting.
Oh you doggies are such gems ~ great photos Mom took with fun scenes and you fur babies ~ hugs,
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

We love finding new places and things to pose with.
Mom would never leave you behind, but you did make me chuckle. I’m glad you had a great time. How fun. Your mom is a most wonderful tour guide for you.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to mom. ♥
She likes us to take in as much as we can as our lives are short and we all need to get the most out of the time we have on this planet. Mom always takes the luggage out but we have never seen her outside at the car with it before. It was a scary few minutes.
What wonderful photos! My mother lived in Muskogee, OK when my father was in the military. I always wanted to visit the state, so thank you for letting me be an armchair traveler! I love the pic of them peeking out the window! What a fun adventure!
We have some more photos tomorrow. The states we traveled don’t have the most interesting things to see in the world but we still find fun stops to make and take photos.
You found some really interesting things to take pictures with on this trip. That is one really big guitar! Hopefully, your mom and the navigator found some cool things in the cooking supply store.
No worries, they always find things to buy along the way, LOL!
I’m glad there were a few fun stops along the way. When we’ve traveled, everyone I’m with just wants to get there and we don’t get much chance to stop and look for the fun tourist things. Someday I’d like to travel that way.
On the way there we plan for most of our stops because on the way home we just want to get there. We have had some trips with lots of stops on the way home but it is rare for us and only if we are going a different way specifically to see different things.
You always get to see the most interesting places and things on your travels!
We love our fun travels and finding odd things and good things too.
Great pics from the road! Love the Dr. Spock mural.
It is in a perfect spot on the side of the gaming place.
Great set of photos. I grew up in Tulsa and I still refer to it as my home, even though we have lived next door in Arkansas for 37 years. Looks like we both found guitars for photo ops recently. That Dodge Power Wagon belongs to Pioneer Woman’s husband. One just like it sits at the entrance to the ranch outside of town. Pups are funny about having the owner leave the room without them.
While we spent the week in Nashville, a couple of the grand kids watched Lucy and the house for us. Now that we have returned, Lucy will not let us out of her sight and she gets a little nervous when she sees us doing laundry. She gets really nervous when she sees luggage on the bed. Have a blessed week.
Mom rarely travels without us and when we see luggage, we get all excited because we know a trip is coming up. Bailie hides because she doesn’t want to go along. We dogs know everything you humans are up to.
Wow!! We really like the Star Trek mural…and our Mama is with yours and is a big fan of Ree and her family!
We will definitely have to put Oklahoma on our list(when it’s not Tornado season)
xoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
We would suggest not tornado season as a top priority, LOL!
