The falling of fall happened on Tuesday morning when we woke up to temperatures in the twenties. Everything is late this year. Normally the leaves are all down by the end of October, but this year, many were still hanging on until this week. A hard frost causes the leaves to drop off the trees like crazy. As you can see around me, the ground was rather white from the frost at sunrise.
It’s amazing as the leave just start to drop all on their own. Then we got some really gusty winds as the day continued on, and the rest of the leaves clinging to their branches floated down to the ground.
Not all the leaves made it to the ground. The strong winds caused some lone leaves to rest in the pine tree branches.
The berries on our trees are all set for the birdies to come by and have a feast. There are no more leaves to hide them.
Lone leaves are always so pretty. Yellow ones are nice but we all like the bright red and orange ones the best.
Once the leaves hit the ground, they dry up and lose their pretty colors quickly. The falling of fall happens fast once it starts. We enjoyed it but are now ready to let the snow fly! Everything is starting to be ugly and a fresh blanket of snow will spiff up everything right away. Paws crossed for a long, cold, and snowy winter around here this year.

A hard frost is exactly what we need to get our leaves to finish falling and we are very much looking forward to snow too!
We thought our Maple tree was going to keep its leaves forever and then the hard frost came and they were all down right away.
we noticed that too… everything happens later this year… will it be a short winter tehn or will we have spring later too? can you send us some frost please? the vet said the evil harvest mites what lure in the grass for peeps and pets will be gone after the first frost…
The past few years we have all been saying that it seems like everything is moving to about a month later. Spring is also later here. We really want a good cold and snowy winter and hope it will arrive soon and stay around until April.
Same here dear friends except thankfully no 20 degrees days yet.
However we had wind and a very chilly rain yesterday (1.4″ which we needed). I enjoy walking on the carpet of leaves the smells and the crunch.

We’ve had some rain too which we needed. Now we are ready for the snow to fall.
Your Fall does indeed seem to have happened very suddenly. Let’s hope your snow arrives soon. Temperatures here in Aberdeen have been unseasonably mild for the last month, but we are promised that Arctic air is arriving at the weekend.

City snow is not a good thing but in our yard, we adore it.
That is a lot of fall falling. We having had a hard frost here yet, we’re still hoping for more warm.

Paws crossed. Last winter was so disappointing, we really want a good one.
We felt like we had a sudden change from hot to cold out here, also. We are about “seasonal” for the temperatures and had some rain this week, which is early for us. We enjoy watching you play in your snow – not something we get.
We love some good snow, it is always fun. It is getting colder here now, thankfully. Hoping for snow this year.
I do hope you have a long, snowy winter, I know it’s good for you. We hope we don’t have snow, the swamps just don’t like it.
We are supposed to have snow, so hopefully we will get it this year like we should.
Despite a foot of snow (*now mostly melted) there are still leaves on some trees. It’s just crazy this year!
Grass is still green in places around here, but most of the leaves are now down.
